Just assume me here. What would it take for the Magic to acquire Trae if he was available? Could you pull this off without any of Franz/Paolo/Suggs? We have some nice expiring, plenty of picks, just not sure what longer term asset we could use. I’m not sure WCJ or Anthony Black moves a needle

There would be no incentive for the Magic to make a move like that if they had to add Franz or Paolo to the mix.  But I would think Suggs and pretty much anyone else on the roster would be in play, plus multiple first rounders. That's the kind of scenario I could see Trae getting dealt in the offseason -- an up and coming team looking for that one big star to push them to another level.

Who is the best fit for the Knicks?  Brogdon?  Clarkson?  BBRown?  And do you see them getting any of them?

With Fournier's contract, draft picks and seemingly Grimes available, I think the Knicks will make a move or 2. Brown makes a lot of sense, since they wouldn't have to commit to him beyond this season. Clarkson would also be an obvious fit -- they need more offense from their bench. Put it this way -- I'd be quite surprised if the Knicks stood pat.

do you think oladipo will get traded? maybe to the pistons in a killian deal?

I thnk the Pistons would jump at the chance to do that deal. It seems like they've finally realized Hayes has no future with their organization and need a fresh start elsewhere. The acquiring team could evaluate him for a couple of months and decide if they'd want to commit to him beyond this season.

The Timberwolves need a back up PG on the books because they have no mechanism to add one if they can’t bring back Mike Conley.  At a minimum, Tyus Jones costs them Kyle Anderson, but Monte Morris could be acquired with Milton and Troy Brown Jr.  Which makes more sense?  Any other possibilities without a Towns trade?

Wouldn't trading Anderson be a robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario? He's playing about 20 minutes a game. I would think the Wolves have to attach an asset to make a Morris deal with the Pistons. I think the best care scenario would be acquiring Jones without having to give Anderson.

Any Heat chatter before the deadline?

They gave up arguably their best asset when they dealt Lowry's contract. They've had these midseason doldrums in previous years and overcome them. I don't know if they could construct a big deal without giving Herro.

Tell me (lie to me if you have to) that the Grizz are going to pick up some draft compensation and/or a player that helps them next year before the end of the week

If they get a solid offer for Kennard and/or Smart, your wish will be granted.

What's up with the Thunder? Any ideas? Will they upgrade.. trade Giddey

If they're planning to do anything significant, they're certainly keeping it under wraps. They might add a rotation piece but that's about it.
Cooling market?
10:59
With reports coming out lately that trade market is cooling, and with some buyers dealing with major injuries, do you think we get reduced prices or reduced activity or that both the prices and volume stay at about the level that's been assumed? Like does a Bruce brown or a Clarkson or tyus get moved for a weak first vs for a couple seconds vs just not moved?

In general, you'll see some moves to improve rotations or benches. It would be a shocker if any All-Star level talent, beyond perhaps Murray, gets traded this week.

That's all the time we have for today. Join Luke Adams on trade deadline day for our next chat.
