Are the Lakers in trouble? They are not very good without AD. Do they trade Caruso and Kuzma in a package?
Luke Adams
12:41
Kuzma will be very tricky to trade this season due to the poison pill provision (https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2018/10/hoops-rumors-glossary-poison-pill-...), so I don't see that happening. The Lakers are probably thinking that if Davis comes back at 100%, they'll be fine -- especially since they should receive serious consideration from most of the top guys on the buyout market.

What do you think about an Oladipo (expiring) for Porzingis (2 yrs after this one) based swap? With trade exception, salaries could work. Who would need to add a sweetener to the deal to make this happen?
Luke Adams
12:44
I'm skeptical that the Rockets would be into that sort of deal, given Porzingis' contract and his potential fit alongside Wood. I also don't think the Mavs are looking to sell low on Porzingis -- it sounds like they still believe in his ability to improve.

Is there a good chance that Wolves make a trade for Arron Gordon or Larry Nance Jr?
Luke Adams
12:47
In theory, I like the idea of the Wolves adding a talented PF like one Gordon, Nance, or John Collins. It's just hard to envision what they'd give up. They've already traded one first-rounder -- are they willing to give up one or two more, despite the fact that they're the league's worst team? If they're willing to make Anthony Edwards available, that could make things interesting, but it seems awfully early for that.

What is the likelihood of the magic and heat making a deal centering around Vuc? If so, what would it take for the heat?
Luke Adams
12:49
Again, I don't think we'll see Vucevic traded since it would take a mammoth offer. BUT the Heat are one of the teams that could get there -- they have the expiring contracts to match his salary, and I think the Magic would have more interest in a combination of some young players like Herro, Robinson, Nunn, and Achiuwa than they'd have in the future draft picks a team like Boston could offer.

Any truth to Allen Robinson saying Drummond will sign with the Nets?
Luke Adams
12:50
If so, I guess we'll have to start following an NFL wide receiver on Twitter. (I'd wait for an NBA reporter on this one though -- there's no indication so far that the Cavs are even willing to buy Drummond out).

How do you think the state of draft picks in the league will affect business going forward the next few years? Do you think some teams might want to put off blowing up their team for picks since it will be hard to match the treasure chests of picks teams like OKC and New Orleans have?
Luke Adams
12:52
Interesting question. I don't think so that will be a major factor in teams' decision-making though. It's possible that many of those picks won't actually amount to anything, especially if they land in the 20s.
12:53
This is sort of the inverse of "Will teams be willing to go all-in if they know they can't beat the Warriors?" from a couple years ago. Teams were still buying and trying to win then, and that was a much more concrete obstacle than a stash of draft picks.

Do you think that Christian Wood is the only player on the Rockets roster that can help them win?
Luke Adams
12:54
No, but it certainly seems like he's the most important player for helping them win. Their drop-off since he went down has been incredible.

Are the Jazz contenders or pretenders?  Needs?  Options?
Luke Adams
12:56
They're a really good team, but it's been a while since we've seen a team win a title without an MVP-type player, and Mitchell and Gobert aren't in that tier. I'd love to see them make the Finals, but I'm still in "I'll believe it when I see it" mode.
12:57
One more two-way wing who can score and who can guard the Kawhis and LeBrons of the world would be a great addition to help get them over the top, but there aren't many of those players out there.

Does Morey pull of anything big before the deadline in Philly?
Luke Adams
12:59
Depends on your definition of "big." Embiid, Simmons, and Harris aren't going anywhere, but I could definitely see them putting together a package that includes some expiring money + draft picks + Maxey and/or Thybulle for another impact player (Kyle Lowry is the most logical target, but there are other options).

Could you see the Nuggets being interested in Drummond or another defensive-minded big man given some of their front-court injuries (Green, Millsap, etc.) and a potential desire to give Jokic a few more minutes off down the stretch?
Luke Adams

It couldn't hurt, but the wing is probably the more pressing concern. It'd be great if they could upgrade on Harris and/or Barton.

Do you think the Knicks can make a playoff run?
Luke Adams
1:01
I think they can realistically make it, but if a "run" means winning at least one series... I can't see it. Not yet.

Dose anyone think the grizzlies need to trade for a new small forward
Luke Adams
1:03
I think they'll want to give Winslow a longer look -- they envisioned him as their SF of the future when they traded for him and they've waited a year for him to get back. He's still only played six games. If he doesn't look great the rest of the way, they could get serious about finding a small forward in the summer.

Does John Collins get traded? And if he doesn't, do we match the inevitable Max offer he will get?
Luke Adams
1:05
Collins is one of the guys I'll be watching closest this month -- he's one of the top players who could realistically be available, and I could actually see the Hawks making a move with him. If they don't, they should absolutely match any offer he gets. Like the Warriors did with D'Angelo Russell, you could always trade him down the road to the team that really wanted him.

Can Morey get Lowry for Maxey and a first(+Green & Mike Scott/salary match player)? Wouldnt want to give up more than that.
Luke Adams
1:06
It will depend whether Lowry wants to be dealt. If so, I think that package is probably in the ballpark. The Raptors would likely push for one more first-round pick, but you should be able to get some protection on it.

Thanks for all the questions today, guys! These chats should only get more interesting over the next couple Tuesdays as the deadline approaches and teams' intentions start becoming clearer. See you next week!
