Do you have a favorite type of article to write for Hoops Rumors? (Free agent signing, speculative article on predictions, gossip news, etc.)

I love the stuff that lets me dig deep into an aspect of the CBA or salary cap, though we're always so busy when they're most relevant (around the trade deadline, during free agency) that there's not always time for me to do as many as I'd like to.

Chances Raptors could actually pull off a first round upset?
Luke Adams
12:40
That series is fascinating to me. The Raptors' swarming team defense can give Embiid problems, but the Sixers will probably still win his minutes -- if Toronto can dominate the non-Embiid minutes like they did back in the 2019 series, they have a real shot.

Where do you think Houston would shift in the scenario that they fall to 4th in the draft? Seems Holmgren, Banchero and Smith are likely gone by then. Do they take Ivey and create a logjam at G? Trade KPJ with his impending FA?
Luke Adams
12:42
If Ivey's clearly the best player on their board, they'd have to take him. They're not far enough along in their rebuild yet to start worrying about fit over talent, especially drafting that high.

Pick a winner, clips rwolves
Luke Adams

The Clippers seem like a popular "upset" pick in that game, but I'm still leaning toward the Wolves. They've been great since January and they should have a real home-court advantage tonight -- that building will be loud.

Biggest winners and losers from the Lakers trading for Westbrook instead of Hield at this point.
Luke Adams
12:46
Besides the obvious losers that we've dwelled on all year, I'd say it was a loss for the Kings -- they potentially could've gotten Kuzma in that Hield deal. Indirectly, it also turned into a win for the Pacers. Hield was really good for them down the stretch, and who knows if that Haliburton deal would've been possible if the Kings had traded Hield last summer.

Who do you think the Grizzlies will pursue in the offseason? Robert Pera is the NBA's third-richest owner, so we probably have the space to sign Ja to a super-max and re-sign Tyus and Kyle. Could we realistically get someone like Jalen Brunson?
Luke Adams
12:49
Theoretically, the Grizzlies could be a Brunson suitor. There haven't been any reports suggesting he's going to be near the top of their wish list though. I've gotten the sense that the Grizzlies are more comfortable building through the draft and via trades than free agency, so I think re-signing Jones and Anderson is more likely than a pursuit of any top FA, but maybe they'll surprise me.
Celtics
12:49
If you were the Celtics who would you want to face  Nets or the Cavs
Luke Adams
12:50
Absolutely the Cavs. Even if Jarrett Allen is playing, he's not going to be 100%, and Cleveland hasn't looked the same without him.
Obi Toppin

James Bouknight and Kai Jones played in a total of 304 and 63 minutes this past season, respectively. Which one is more likely to play in over 1,000 minutes next season?
Luke Adams
12:51
I'll take Bouknight, but I won't be surprised if neither one gets there again.
Rookies
12:51
Who do you think will be the best player of the 2021 draft class five years from now?
Luke Adams
12:53
It's a great question, and one that's maybe even harder than picking a Rookie of the Year for this season. I'll take Cade Cunningham five years from now, but I could easily see Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes, Jalen Green, as All-Stars by that point too. And I don't think Franz Wagner or Josh Giddey should be left out of the conversation either.

Given the talent of Kuminga and Wiggins underwhelming performance since Klay came back could you see an offseason trade.   What about a package for Julius Randle?
Luke Adams
12:54
A Wiggins trade will likely be something the Warriors consider, but I wouldn't expect Randle to be a target. Not sure he's a great fit there.

Pelicans can get 2 picks in the top 4?? So they have the Lakers I'm assuming. That's crazy!
Luke Adams
12:55
Yeah, the most likely scenario is that they just end up with one lottery pick outside the top four, but two top-4 picks is technically in play. The Lakers' pick has a 26.2% chance to get there and the Pelicans' own pick has a 9.4% chance (assuming they don't earn a playoff spot via the play-in).
Jarrett Allen

If I'd played 10ish more games, would I have been a DPOY contender? Why is Bam getting so much more attention when we both played 56 games and my D stats are just as good or better? (Not saying this as a knock against Bam, just confused why I'm not getting more consideration for DPOY or at least All-Defense when the Cavs cratered without me and were good when I played.)
Luke Adams
12:56
Your DPOY case and Evan Mobley's ROY case have both been hurt by the presence of the other -- guys like Bam and Gobert are considered the lone frontcourt anchors of their teams' defenses, and the fact that Cleveland has two of those guys means that neither of them is getting quite as much credit.

Any chance I am traded to Golden State?
Luke Adams
12:57
My general attitude is "never say never," but, uh... no.

Thanks for all your questions today, guys! Enjoy the play-in games tonight and tomorrow, and we'll be back on Thursday with another live chat (hosted by Dana Gauruder).
