Westbrook
10:48
What do you think of Russell Westbrook's market ahead of free agency? Most guys who get bought out and sign for the minimum don't get significant contracts the following offseason.
Luke Adams

Yeah, Westbrook's days of earning $40MM+ are definitely over, but based on his play with the Clippers so far, I doubt he's entered his vet-minimum stage permanently. Could see him getting a deal similar to the one Kemba got from the Knicks a couple summers ago (two years, $8-10MM per year).

Is there any way Sacramento could potentially acquire another star in the off-season? I do wanna see a championship team start to develop here
Luke Adams

The traded 2024 pick to Atlanta complicates their ability to trade future first-rounders a little, and if you assume Fox, Sabonis, and Murray aren't going anywhere, their ability to build a really strong package for a star is somewhat limited, especially since Richaun Holmes' contract (which would probably be necessary for salary matching) is a negative. They'd have enough to acquire a solid rotation player, but probably not an All-Star caliber guy.
CBA
10:53
What change do you like the most out of all the CBA details that have been leaked thus far?
Luke Adams
10:55
This will likely put me in the minority, but I'm actually looking forward to the in-season tournament. It won't be perfect, but those Nov/Dec regular season games can be a bit of a slog (the excitement of the start of the season has faded, the trade deadline's still not close, etc.). Giving those games some added importance and then getting a brief little single-elimination tournament should be fun.
10:56
From a Hoops Rumors content perspective, I guess I also can't argue with the third two-way contract slot, which will give us another 30 signings to write about each offseason! (though I'm begging teams to spread them out a little instead of doing them all during the first week of July).
Suns 1st round Opponent
10:57
Cyrstal Ball - who are the Suns going to face in their 1st Round series ?
Luke Adams
10:58
The race for the Nos. 5 and 6 spots in the West is very funny right now, since teams badly want to avoid the play-in but also really want to end up with the sixth seed (ie. facing the Kings and then the Grizzlies) instead of the fifth (Suns, Nuggets). It's a real fine balance.
10:59
Anyway, I'll take the Clippers, since:
A) They hold the No. 5 spot now.
B) I can't imagine them losing at home to Portland on Sat.
C) I suspect the Suns may rather face the Clippers than the Warriors and won't go all-out in the regular season finale on Sun. to beat them.
Rookie Scale Extensions
11:00
What do you think of the CBA change of adding an extra (fifth) year onto non-max rookie scale extensions? Good for the owners or players? Or both?
Luke Adams
11:01
Think it works for both sides, but more for the owners. Guys like Jaylen Brown, Dejounte Murray, etc. who signed below-market four-year rookie scale extensions would be even further from free agency now if they had been able (and willing) to sign five-year deals.
11:02
Thanks for all the questions today, everyone. Enjoy the home stretch of the regular season and we'll be back on Tuesday with our next live chat!
