The Pelicans would be the most fascinating No. 1 team to me for this reason. The logical pick would be Holmgren, Banchero, or Smith, but how confident are they that those guys could thrive alongside Zion? I imagine they'd view that No. 1 pick as a co-star for Zion, not his replacement, but they'd certainly be in a great position to trade either the pick or Zion for something else, and they'll have to take that into account.

I don't get the sense that Zion wants out like AD did or that he'll be moved this summer, but the Pelicans getting the No. 1 pick this year would be very reminiscent of them getting it in 2019 when they were about to trade Davis.

Of all the teams in the lottery tonight, which one has the best core of players to win right now? Which one needs the most help?
Luke Adams
12:47
Best core to win right now is probably the Pelicans or Cavs. The one that most desperately needs that No. 1 pick might be the Blazers -- they have more talent on their roster than some other lottery teams, but they're under the most pressure to add talent this summer to help Damian Lillard contend. The No. 1 pick would make the future in Portland look a whole lot brighter.

Thoughts on a new era of basketball shifting from "Big 3" superstar teams to 3&D versatile supporting role players and camaraderie? If you look at the final four remaining, they all D up man-to-man, guard multiple positions and can all shoot. The Al Horford's, Dorian Finney Smith's and PJ Tucker's of the league, for example, seem to be a lot more valuable than many assumed.

I'm not sure that shift is as drastic as it's made out to be. The "big three" superstar teams have underachieved lately more due to those players' personalities (Nets) or injuries/age (Lakers). A team with three healthy, happy superstars is still going to be a title contender just about every year.
That's not to say that those three-and-D role players aren't important -- but that was the case even on the Big Three teams (Shane Battier and Ray Allen in Miami, Andre Iguodala in Golden State, etc.). Always glad to see those guys get their due.

do you think the Celtics will sign Grant Williams to an extension this year,
Luke Adams
12:52
We'll see how the rest of his postseason goes, but he's certainly been making a strong case for one. If the Celtics can get him at a similar price as Robert Williams ($12MM per year), or maybe a little less, I imagine they'll be interested.

What do you see the spurs doing this offseason?
Luke Adams
12:56
The Spurs are always one of the toughest teams for me to get a feel for. Last summer, for instance, the DeRozan sign-and-trade was perfectly logical, but the free agent deals for Doug McDermott and Zach Collins? Kinda weird! They could go in any number of directions this season and I wouldn't be totally surprised. I'll predict they let Lonnie Walker walk, extend Keldon Johnson, use two of their first-round picks to bring in rookies, and trade the third one for a future pick or two.

Do the Sixers move mad max in any scenario?
Luke Adams
12:57
Can't really see it happening this summer.

How thrilled must the Mavs feel now about the Dinwiddie and Bertans for Porzingis trade?
Luke Adams
12:58
Would be fun to go back and re-read the reactions to that trade again now. I have to think that even the Mavs' front office has been pleasantly surprised by just how well it's worked out.

If the Mavs makes the finals, after beating Suns and Warrior, wich one can argue that had 4 out of the best 5 players on each series, besides Luka, will this be the most impressive run ever? I think that Suns and Warriors are better than 2007 Nets and Pistons.

It would definitely be in the conversation. I know people are really down on the Jazz at this point, but that was another really strong team that Dallas beat in round one.
Thanks everyone for the questions today. We'll be back on Thursday with Dana Gauruder hosting a live chat. Enjoy tonight's lottery!
