Luke Adams

I... don't think he'd be the missing piece for the Blazers.
Raptors fan 123
12:36
With the raptors pretty much securing their spot outside of the playoffs, which rookie do you think would be the best and realistic fit?
Luke Adams
12:38
Evan Mobley would be really intriguing if the Raptors got lucky in the lottery. If they're more in the 7-9 range, then Keon Johnson, Jalen Johnson, and Corey Kispert would all make some sense.
Just my opinion
12:38
What’s going on with Isaiah Thomas.  Will I.T. Ever be back
Luke Adams
12:39
He was back for 10 days with the Pelicans a few weeks ago -- I wonder if the Pels will re-add him later in the week once they can sign a 15th man without going into the luxury tax. If not, it's hard to see a fit for him before the end of the regular season.

Where will Kyle Lowry end up next year and will they pay his reported asking price?
Luke Adams
12:41
Way too early for this sort of prediction, but what the hell -- I'll say he signs with the Heat for two years, $45MM.
Markelle Fultz
12:41
Is there enough room for me, cole Anthony, and Rj Hampton?
Luke Adams
12:42
For now, sure. The Magic are in no hurry to contend, so it makes sense to acquire as much young talent as possible and figure out which guys are keepers. Maybe they'll determine those three guys don't fit together eventually, but no reason to rush that decision.
Thon Maker is available
12:42
So is Justin Patton, Greg Monroe, John Henson, Tyler Zeller, etc.  why haven’t Contenders signed more Big Men as Insurance depth pieces?  Where is your Current Free Agents list saved again?
Luke Adams
12:44
I expect we could see a couple of those guys signed into open roster spots before the playoffs start, but centers who aren't that mobile are only useful in specific matchups in the playoffs.
Marvin Bagley
12:44
Can someone do a Deep five into his situation?  Have the Kings truly told him to stay home in Arizona rather than join the Team?  Does that mean the Kings will Decline his Contract option after the season?
Luke Adams
12:45
Bagley's back with the Kings and actually had a really nice game on Sunday! (23 points, nine rebounds, +20 in a 12-point win). That's good news for Sacramento, since they've already picked up his 2021/22 option -- the decision on that was due back in December.

Are the bulls tanking or do they just stink? And if they're not tanking, why not? Get in the top 4!
Luke Adams
12:48
They're not that good, especially without LaVine. But I'm not sure there's much point in tanking. They're currently 7th in the reverse standings, and the 6th-place Cavs are 4.5 games away, so they're not moving any higher than 7th. And they've been playing worse than the Raptors (8th) and Kings (9th) anyway. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/202021-nba-reverse-standings
John Collins
12:48
What is the max contract amount that John Collins can sign for after this year? He seems like a very good #3 player on a championship level team, but I can't imagine him ever being a #1 or #2 option.
Luke Adams
12:49
Here are the maximum salary projections for 2021/22 based on a 3% increase in the cap, which is the lowest possible increase: https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2020/12/nba-maximum-salary-projections-for...
Collins would fall into the first column there. So five years, $163MM with the Hawks or four years, $120.8MM with another team.

Yes the LeBron/AD injuries were crucial but had LA just started the season with McGee and Howard back would things be better now?
Luke Adams
12:52
I can't imagine it would've made a huge difference. The Lakers started off 21-6 with Gasol and Harrell in place of McGee and Howard. Occam's razor applies here -- the struggles can be largely attributed to losing two top-10 players!

What is Terrance Mann's contract status? Is he eligible for an extension?
Luke Adams
12:53
His deal is very team-friendly -- a non-guaranteed minimum salary for 2021/22 and a min-salary team option for '22/23. The Clippers could try to extend him as early as this offseason. If they don't work anything out, turning down that '22/23 option and negotiating with him as a resticted free agent is another possibility. If they pick up the option, he'd be unrestricted in 2023.

What moves can Washington make to pick up on this late season surge seeing they will probably not make too much noise if they sneak in? Is someone like Marvin bagley obtainable?
Luke Adams
12:56
Bagley could probably be had, but he's obviously not the kind of player who will turn them into a contender on his own. The development of Avdija and Hachimura is huge for the Wizards. Having one or both of them turn into impact players while on their rookie contracts would open up a lot more doors for the team.

If you’re a GM, and got your pick of any player to build around for the next five years, who you taking? Lots of good candidates to go #1
Luke Adams
12:57
Great question. Will open this up to responses from readers if anyone wants to weigh in.
12:58
Obviously for years my answer would've been LeBron, but he's at the point in his career where you can't safely count on five more big years. This probably isn't the "right" answer, but I'd be tempted to pick Jokic since he's so much fun to watch.

Do you think tha New York Knicks will be a big threat to playoffs?
Luke Adams

I can't see the Knicks knocking off any of the top three teams, but the way the seeding is shaking out, they could potentially win in round one, which is absolutely shocking, given where they were a year ago.

Jokic for sure
Zion

Give me Zion. He could potentially shut down Luka, but Luka couldn't shut him down

Thanks for all the questions today, guys. That's our hour, but I'll be back next week to do this again!
