I think the Lakers could package DLo, Beasley and Bamba with picks for Beal.  DLo would s&t on a moveable contract and Beaz and Bamba would be on expiring deals.  I think thats a decent deal and if Beal says he wants to go there I think it could happen.

If the Lakers were willing to include their 2029 first-rounder with little to no protection, I like that deal for the Wizards. If the Lakers aren't including that 2029 pick, then the Wizards probably only accept that deal if Beal forces their hand.

What do you make out of the Warriors trading up in the draft using Jonathan Kuminga?
Luke Adams
12:08
It's an odd rumor. The issue with the young guys in Golden State the last couple years has been that they aren't ready for regular rotation roles. With Kuminga on the verge of reaching that level, it doesn't make much sense to me that they'd trade him for a rookie. We'll see though -- maybe there's a specific prospect they love.

I would question your valuation of DFS. Looks like a role player to me.
Luke Adams
12:10
He wasn't great after the trade, but he made 39%+ of his threes in each of the two previous seasons and is a really good perimeter defender who's on a reasonable contract (about $28MM for the next two years). Three-and-D guys like that have real trade value.

Luke, Seattle and Vegas would both have to be on the west geographically. So you would need to move 2 east
Memphis would fit nicely in the east too
Luke Adams
12:11
Didn't expect to spend so much time on the idea of expansion, but to clarify, if you're adding two teams to the West, the split would be 17/15, meaning you'd just need to move one to the East to make it 16/16. Agreed on Memphis.

How far up in the draft do you think Orlando could get trading the #6 and #11 picks, maybe adding the Denver pick owed to them?
Luke Adams
12:12
Have a hard time seeing them getting above No. 4, given the perceived divide after the top three.

Do you think that the new CBA will affect the trade value for stars? I remember how hard it used to be to get value for stars in trades and I wonder if the spending limits will bring some of that back.
Luke Adams
12:14
It's a good question. It will probably take a couple years to get a real sense of that, but the new rules could take some of the league's biggest spenders out of the running for stars on the trade block (since those teams won't be allowed to aggregate salaries). For instance, I'd have to double-check this, but I believe the Suns' trade for Durant this season wouldn't have been allowed under the new rules. Removing suitors would presumably make it harder for teams trading those stars to get top value.

Luke, do you start chats with at least partial answers to the most likely current questions already written out? It's amazing how you quickly you're able to respond to some of these. Or do you write all your answers as you go?
Luke Adams
12:16
No, I'm typing these as I go, and I usually don't look at any of the questions until a couple minutes before the chat. I want to maintain the "live chat" vibe, though it does mean that I often can't tackle questions that would require me to do a little more research (ie. if you want to me to suggest specific packages for what a player might return in a trade, I likely won't be able to look at every roster come up with a good answer in 2-3 minutes).

Do you think Charlotte will really pick Miller because of Scoot's fit alongside LaMelo?
Luke Adams
12:17
It sounds like they're seriously considering it, but I hope they don't do it, especially if they genuinely believe Scoot is the better prospect. I like Miller and I don't think Scoot is necessarily a future All-NBA First Team guy, but talking themselves out of him because of fit gives me Luka/Bagley vibes.

Do you see the Pacers moving the 7th pick for a player like OG Anunoby?
Luke Adams
12:19
He'd be a great fit on that roster, especially given his IU ties. I suspect if the Raptors are considering trading up using Anunoby or Siakam, they'll try to aim a little higher. Those guys would make a lot of sense for teams like Portland (No. 3) and Houston (No. 4) too.

If Beal wants to go to BOS to team up with Tatum, and the cost is bench talent and draft picks, doesn’t BOS have to take the plunge? The opportunity to win a championship or two over the next two-three years has to outweigh the penalties of the second apron when a player of his quality wants to join your team. With the players that have turned them down (Davis, Durant, probably Lillard if he is moved) BOS needs to take the chance.
Luke Adams
12:22
I mean, it's not my money, so sure, go for it! But the cost would be huge and the risk would be massive. I'd be surprised if ownership was enthusiastic about the idea.
Hawks
12:22
What kind of haul (picks/players) could the Hawks get for Trae Young if they decided to move him?
Luke Adams
12:23
If they could recoup what they gave up for Dejounte Murray (two unprotected first-rounders, a protected pick, a first-round swap, and matching salary), they'd be doing well.
12:24
(Though it might make more sense for them to focus on players instead of picks if they were to trade Trae.)
JACKIESWEETS
12:24
Milwaukee is being mentioned in trade rumors for Bradley Beal as well as to move into the 1st round for wing talent.   With my team up against the second apron and with a dearth of draft capital, what could you see happening?
Luke Adams
12:26
The Beal rumors caught me off guard. Jrue is a few years older and isn't the scorer that Beal is, but I figured they'd value him more because of his defense. And if you're keeping Jrue, that means making Middleton the centerpiece of a deal for Beal, despite having him involved in the head coaching search this offseason. Odd. I think the Bucks are probably a long shot to land Beal or to do anything too huge this summer, but we'll see.
LeBron
12:27
Yay or nay... LeBron will play for another team besides the Lakers before he retires?
Luke Adams
12:28
It depends how serious he is about playing with Bronny, since the odds of the Lakers drafting him seem low. I'm leaning "nay" here because I don't see LeBron wanting to leave Los Angeles, but a one-year farewell tour with Bronny's team isn't out of the question.

I get the sense that the Knicks will be reluctant to include Grimes or Quickly in any trades. Two very young, very talented 3nD players who have shown improvement each year, and have the ability to play multiple positions. Most packages that want to give up would be centered around Randle, Robinson, Barrett and/or picks, right?
Luke Adams
12:30
That would make sense, both in terms of roster balance and salary balance. With Fournier's expiring contract and Rose's team option, the Knicks COULD theoretically trade for a star without giving up one of Randle, Robinson, or Barrett, but I'd be shocked if that happened. Those three guys are owed too much money and don't shoot threes well enough to stay together for the long run.
12:31
Thanks for all the questions today, guys! A ton that I didn't get to (the queue is definitely busier now with the draft and free agency around the corner). Our next live chat will be on Tuesday afternoon, so you'll have an opportunity to ask Dana Gauruder your Q's then.
Have a great weekend!
