Steph has no Finals MVPs, been part of  "Super Teams", but why doesn't he get enough credit? Seems he is overlooked when it comes down to Top 10 - 15 of all time, he's a great scorer, efficient and provides supporting stats all around.

When you think of the all-time great basketball players, you tend to think of wings (Jordan, LeBron, Kobe) and other such dominant all-timers who were great passers (Magic, Bird) or centers (Shaq, Kareem). Curry's dominance is his ability to shoot from anywhere on the court, coupled with the fact that the game has changed so much that his talents are highlighted in this era where the 3 point shot is prevalent. I think as time goes by, it will be much more difficult to not consider Curry one of the all-time greats. Many already consider him the greatest all-time shooter.

What do you think the Sixers end up doing with the 23rd pick? Can they attach Danny green to get a solid vet?
Dana Gauruder
11:09
I believe so. They're certainly trying to do that. This regime isn't looking for a late first-rounder to come in and be an impact player. I can't really pinpoint a particular player, other than might have to take someone who has more than a year left on his contract. Would certainly seem they'd be in a the market for a starter-quality wing.

11:09
in which team Westbrook will be on opening night?
Dana Gauruder
11:11
Unless the Lakers are creating a giant smokescreen or the right deal comes along, looks like the Westbrook "show" will be around another season. Those contract numbers are prohibitive and their lack of other assets makes it even tougher to deal him. It's not like the Mavs deal with Houston yesterday, where Dallas could match up Wood's salary with a bunch of players at the end of the bench.

Should raptors trade OG for Ayton or go after Drummond other low cost center
Dana Gauruder
11:15
If you're committed to having Pascal and VanVleet for several more years -- and knowing Barnes will get a giant extension a couple of years down the road -- you'd have to be convinced Ayton would be the missing piece to a championship-caliber team. You're going to have to creative to get quality low-salary role players around him. So do you value Ayton enough to pay him 30 plus million or whatever he may get in a sign-and-trade? My guess is they'll look for lower cost alternatives.

Where is Jerami Grant in 2023 and what do the Pistons realistically get with all that cap space?
Dana Gauruder
11:20
The Grant-to-Portland scenario for the No. 7 pick has been rumored for awhile. I could see them doing that. Regarding the previous question, the Pistons have been linked to Ayton and Jalen Brunson and they'll have to lay their cards on the table in a couple of weeks and show if they're willing to pay big bucks for one of those players. Otherwise, nothing wrong keeping flexibility for next summer. Just making the playoffs would be a major step for the franchise next season. No reason to sign anymore Kelly Olynyks to three year deals. They wanted to get a big man who could stretch defenses, but he's not really a good fit for the current roster.

The Mavs/Rockets trade empowers fans to propose their team trading spare parts and mediocre draft compensation for useful players, right?
Dana Gauruder
11:25
We've seen a lot of these deals -- contending team wants a good player, rebuilding team wants a draft asset. Then the salaries have to match up, so multiple bench players get dealt to the rebuilding team, which winds up either waiving them or tossing them into another deal. It's interesting that these types of deals haven't been a bigger point of contention for NBPA in CBA talks. Those "throw-ins" still get their guaranteed money but they basically become a "salary" instead of a "player." A couple of those players may find it difficult to land another NBA job.

Who are the likely targets for the Bucks at backup center and wing, either in draft, trades or free agency?
Dana Gauruder
11:29
First, they have to sort out their own free agent issues -- Connaughton, Matthews, Portis. They're a tax team, so they're limited to taxpayer exception (6-mill plus). I wouldn't anticipate the Bucks doing anything eye-opening, considering their cap situation. They'll got the Big 3 and they'll fill in the blanks by retaining one or more of their free agents and adding some vets on minimum deals.

Do you think could’ve just traded Powell, Green and some picks alongside the first rounder to get Wood? Sending away Boban and Brown isn’t the best for the team culture, which was the main reason they did so well this year.
Dana Gauruder
11:35
Salary-wise, that probably would have worked. However, they were looking to not only pick up an asset but clear PT for the lottery pick and Sengun. Having Powell around may have complicated that process. And it's not a bad thing for Dallas to hold Powell's expiring deal, which they might be able to move in a different deal. But yes, who doesn't want Boban around? I doubt any of the guys Houston acquired will be on its roster all season, so hopefully Boban get another NBA opportunity.

Are the wizards interested in Russel, and what trade package would you see them offering? Does any other teams have interest in him, and what kind of package would the wolves be looking at?
Dana Gauruder
11:41
I know the Knicks have been thrown out there as a possible Russell suitor. According to a recent report, the Wizards are not interested in him. I think it would be an interesting pairing with Beal and if it doesn't work, he'll be a free agent after the season. In terms of salary match, you'd have to include either KCP or Kuzma with Hachimura and another filler, or both KCP and Kuzma to achieve it.

How will the Spurs use their 4 picks in the draft to help them take that next step.?
Dana Gauruder
11:45
With the impending Wood trade, the Rockets, Spurs and OKC will all have 3 first-rounders at their disposal. Do they really want that many rookies on their roster next season? I see a lot of wheeling and dealing -- perhaps the Spurs use a couple of those picks to move up a few slots, or they trade the No. 20 or No. 25 to a team looking to get into the first round. Even if they stay at No. 9, they'll get a pretty solid rotation player and another they can develop in the G League with the other first rounder they keep.

If warriors decide to stash a player overseas with their first round pick who are the most likely players they would draft to play in the NBA at a future date?
Dana Gauruder
11:49
Some of the international guys in that range who wind up in that category would be Khalifa Diop, Ismael Kamagate and Nikola jovic. That's assuming one or more of those players would be willing to stay overseas, rather than playing in the NBA next season.

Do you guys at HoopsRumors consider Zach LaVine a "max" player?  If DeMar DeRozan is worth 3 years and ~$80M, then why is LaVine worth 5 years and $212M?  Statistically they were nearly identical in the '21/'22 season and DeMar played in more games.
Dana Gauruder
11:55
I can't speak for the other guys who would at the site. I'd be reluctant to max out DeRozan, partially because of his knee and partially because I'm not convinced he's a two-way force. He's a fabulous offensive player, can go for 40-plus any night. And he's a superior 3-point shooter, while DeRozan has an old-school mid-range game. I love watching DeRozan and wish those types of players were given greater value. The bigger factor is where they're at age-wise in their careers -- DeRozan in his mid 30s, LaVine is 27. I certainly think DeRozan has a few good years left in him but that plays into the salaries for those players as well.

do the bucks trade middleton!
Dana Gauruder
11:56
That would be a pretty radical move, considering they won a championship with him last year. I don't see that happening.

Is it likely the Pacers deal Brogdon and what kind of return could they expect?
Dana Gauruder
11:58
I believe so. Brogdon is a valuable player on an expiring deal. He could help a lot of teams seeking a backcourt upgrade. I think you could get a future first-rounder and perhaps a promising young player on a rookie contract as part of the package.

Given the Maverick’s cap situation, there seems to be zero chance of resigning Jalen Brunson without having a payroll in excess of $175 million…are people projecting his return to Dallas aware of their cap situation??
Dana Gauruder
12:01
I think they're anticipating Cuban will find a way to make it work but you're correct, giving Brunson big money creates a lot of cap issues. I think it's more likely he ends up in a sign-and-trade.
