Hornets fan here -  what moves can this team make to help them break mediocrity and move past the play-in game in the East?

Myles Turner remains a really nice fit for them, but it seems like we've been hearing that rumor for 2-3 years and nothing has come of it yet. Even if the Hornets don't shake things up in a major way this summer, I could see them getting back to the playoffs next year -- Ball, Bridges, and Washington (assuming they're all back) should all keep getting better, and I actually like Steve Clifford as a coach.

are the pistons really out on miles bridges?  he seems like a perfect fit at something less than the max and the pistons have the money, no??  do they just not want to get too good before troy decides their window is open?

In recent years it feels like teams have really shied away from signing RFAs to offer sheets, knowing that their cap room will be tied up for a few days. I suppose that's understandable, but I feel like taking a shot at Bridges would be worthwhile for the Pistons. The Hornets are reportedly not 100% certain to match a big offer, and if they do match, it's not the end of the world for the Pistons -- it's not like they need to use their cap room on a win-now free agent for 2022/23. The fallback plan could be using their room like OKC did this past year, accommodating midseason or end-of-season salary dumps.

If Zion is healthy the Pels could look really solid with Dyson Daniels playing great D alongside Herb Jones. Daniels is a dark horse ROY candidate IMO. If he can shoot a bit he's gonna be a great player for them.

I like Daniels' long-term prospects, though I do wonder how much playing time he'll see in year one -- the Pelicans will be a playoff contender with a pretty solid rotation already. But I suppose they found room for Jones and Alvarado last season, so if Daniels impresses, he should get minutes.

What do you think are the most likely destinations if D Lo is moved?
Alex Kirschenbaum

It's honestly hard to think of many logical ones, which is why I think he'll likely end up sticking with the Wolves. Maaaaybe the Wizards, but they don't have great salary-matching pieces and I doubt they view D-Lo as an ideal fit next to Beal.

With Jalen Brunson having one foot out the door for the Knicks.  If the Mavs can work out a sign and trade with the Knicks, what can they get?  Thanks
Alex Kirschenbaum

If Brunson wants to join the Knicks and they're able to dump one more salary (probably Noel or Burks) to get to $24-25MM in cap space, the Mavs will be hard-pressed to negotiate a sign-and-trade. In scenarios where a team has enough cap room to sign a player outright and still agrees to do a sign-and-trade, it's usually because the player's new team (ie. the Knicks) is the one getting a second-round pick or two (in exchange for creating a trade exception for the player's old team).

Are there any Hawks rumors, other than Dejounte, that are credible/substantial at this point? I’ve heard them say there will be significant changes, but it seems they’ve kept a pretty decent lid on things.

Collins, Bogdanovic, and Gallinari seem like their top trade candidates at this point. And it sounds like they're willing to give up draft picks to acquire an impact player. I wonder if they could emerge as a Brogdon suitor if the Murray talks fall through -- he's the sort of solid defender and shooter who would be a nice fit next to Trae.
12:56
One thing that wouldn't surprise me is if Gallinari agrees to push his salary guarantee date back a week or two past June 29. The Hawks will probably just waive him if they don't have a deal in place using his partially guaranteed salary by tomorrow, so if he believes that partial guarantee could be increased if the Hawks can find a trade a week from now, why not push that deadline back.

Is norlen noles a better fit for clippers or Drummond? Also what kind of picks can clippers get from knicks for helping them cut salary?
Alex Kirschenbaum
12:59
I like both players as backup center options for L.A., though only if they think they can't re-sign Hartenstein. If the Clippers do trade for Noel, I'd expect him to come with either 2-3 second-rounders or a heavily protected first-rounder.

Which under MLE free agent is most likely to overperform the contract? I was thinking Oladipo, but maybe I am too optimistic considering his injuries...

Guys like Oladipo, Warren, Rubio, etc. are the most intriguing ones, but the injury histories are a concern. Young guys like Lonnie Walker or Jordan Nwora are also interesting to me, since there may be some untapped potential there. But they could just as easily be busts.
Thanks for the questions today, guys! Buckle up for a fun few days this week.
