That's a very reasonable perspective. I thought the Fox trade made a lot of sense for them because it was so low-risk -- they gave up some draft assets, but they still have a surplus in that department, and they didn't have to give up any starter-caliber or high-upside players from their current roster.

Making a trade involving Castle or the No. 2 pick this summer would be a far greater risk, so I don't think there's anything wrong with playing it safe for now and reassessing during the season or the 2026 offseason.

What players do you see the Warriors acquiring to fit around Steph, Dray and Jimmy?

Any realistic role player options for the Warriors this offseason? De'Anthony Melton? Team obviously needs some perimeter shooting and size

Melton was a nice fit for that group. I'm not sure where his health stands, but if he's back to 100%, it would make sense to try him again -- his price tag will likely be lower this time around than it was in 2024.

If they sign-and-trade Kuminga, they'll presumably try to add a couple rotation players in that deal like they did last year when they acquired Anderson and Hield via the Klay Thompson sign-and-trade.

I'm looking at rosters now trying to come up with trade targets I like for them, but would need more time to compile a better list. A guy like Royce O'Neale would make sense.

How many teams really have the NTLE available this offseason - and how many will actually use it to sign a rotation level player?

I don't have an exact number, but I think there are probably something like 8-10 teams that will either have cap room or the full non-taxpayer MLE, and maybe another 10 that won't be limited to the taxpayer MLE but also may not have enough flexibility to use the non-taxpayer version.

If last season is any indication, a number of teams may be more inclined to save those exceptions for trades rather than using them in free agency. But we should still get at least 5-7 teams using them on FAs.

More sense for the sixers to draft Ace and let him find his way as the 4th option or package the 3rd with future assets and somebody not named Maxey for another superstar.

The second route would be tricky -- you're probably not using Embiid or George in that package since you'd be selling extremely low on them and diluting the value of the No. 3 pick. But the Sixers don't really have any other players earning significant money, so they aren't in position to add another high-salary star.

My preference would probably be somewhere in the middle. Trade down from No. 3 and pick up an extra asset or two (maybe a rotation player on a team-friendly contract) while drafting a player who'd fit better right away as a role player.

As an example, I might call the Blazers to ask about the No. 11 pick and Toumani Camara.

Who actually makes sense for Minny trade target? KD...gut the team for aging 2 year oft injured rental. Trae? Garland, Ja?

I kinda like the idea of Durant and Edwards together, but it's hard for me to wrap my head around what the package for KD would look like. Of the guys you mentioned, Garland is probably the target I like best. He doesn't need the ball in his hands as much as someone like Trae or Ja, which is a good trait next to Ant.

Thanks for the great questions today, guys! Enjoy the start of the Finals and we'll do this again next Thursday. Have a good week!
