Do any free agents stand out to you who could be available for a bargain but outperform the market price? Harder to find good value in a weak class but it always happens.
Luke Adams
12:37
Bobby Portis and Nic Batum have outperformed their contracts over the past couple years and will keep doing so if they keep signing below-market deals to stick with teams they like. I'm wary of guys coming off major injuries, but if they're back to 100%, T.J. Warren and Victor Oladipo are pretty intriguing. Of course, it's hard to really identify possible bargains until we see what guys are paid. Pat Connaughton and Kyle Anderson are a couple under-the-radar FAs that I like, but if a team offers one of them $15MM per year, it won't be a bargain!

Can we stop with these ridiculous rumors of Zach lavine goin to a rebuilding squad for less money than he can get with the Bulls, like detroit get real, this dude just made the playoffs for the first time in his career
Luke Adams
12:38
Yeah, a lot of the LaVine rumors don't make sense to me. He's not going a team that's in a worse spot than Chicago. If he does leave, it'll be for a team that's either around the Bulls' level (like the Hawks) or better.

Who do you have winning the Finals? I ( as a buyest Golden State fan) say Warriors in 6
Luke Adams
12:39
I'll take the Warriors in 7. But I also picked the Bucks and Heat in 7, so... you're welcome, Celtics fans.
12:41
Apologies, I need to step away for a couple minutes. Will be back as soon as I can to answer more questions before the top of the hour.
12:45
OK, I'm back. Let's keep rolling here...

what should the pelicans do we the 8th pick trade it are just pick a player?
Luke Adams
12:47
The Pelicans are certainly ready to acquire win-now help, but if the right deal doesn't arise, I have no problem with them using that pick to select the best player on their board. It's not like they have a ton of rotation holes that need to be filled -- they can afford to draft and develop a high-upside rookie, and he'd still have trade value down the road if they wanted to move him.

What is the more realistic offseason plans for lakers that can be done and get the Lakers back to finals contention?
Luke Adams
12:49
To get back to Finals contention, they'd probably have to be willing to give up their 2027 and 2029 first-round picks. I'll bet attaching those two picks to Westbrook could get them at least 2-3 solid rotation players who complement AD and LeBron. If they're not willing to give up first-rounders, it's tougher to find realistic upgrades.

What will it cost the Knicks to get up to #4
Luke Adams
12:50
Probably the No. 11 + at least two more future first-round picks (not necessarily unprotected, but at least one would have to be unprotected or very lightly protected).
CBA
12:50
The CBA can be very complicated at times, but you're very knowledgeable about it. Which aspect(s) of it do you find the most difficult to grasp?
Luke Adams
12:51
First of all, I appreciate the flattery. As for the trickiest part of the CBA, it's probably just keeping all the little rules straight in your head -- it's one thing to learn and understand them, but it's another thing to remember all of them when you're analyzing trades, cap situations, etc.

Do I avoid going around the league digging for someone to take THJ and Bertans' contracts to run it back with the same roster, and look ahead towards expiring contracts for cap flexibility in the 2023-24 offseason?
Luke Adams
12:53
It doesn't hurt to shop around to see what you could get back for them. The Mavs don't want to do what the Hawks did last year and assume that an unexpected conference final run means they should just run it back. On the other hand, if those contracts are being treated by potential trade partners as toxic assets, then yeah, Dallas might as well just be patient and wait for them to increase in value or come off the books.

Will I reunite with the Raptors as a free agent this summer? They need a backup pg and I certainly fit the mold of a long, versatile defender.
Luke Adams
12:55
I could see it. I do think that you're the one free agent the Hawks will probably try to keep as they look to upgrade their defense.

Why would anyone give up good player(s) for Gobert just to overpay him at 40million/season and tie up cap space? Trade for Turner/Nurkic/Ayton instead for way less.
Luke Adams
12:57
Ayton will probably be earning $30MM+ starting in 2022/23, and Turner could be in line for a significant raise starting in '23/24, but I get your point. I do think Gobert brings a lot more to the table defensively than any of those guys, but I wouldn't blame a team for not wanting to commit so much of its cap room to a center who doesn't contribute much offensively.

Luke, any talk about other rule changes being considered besides the take foul ?
Luke Adams
12:58
I think there's been a little more talk about tweaking the way challenges are handled, but I don't believe any major rule changes are imminent. We'll find out for sure later in the summer.
Offensive Fowl
12:58
If the Blazers fail to move 7 for a starter or find one in the first week of FA, does Cronin reverse course and put Lillard up for trade?
Luke Adams
12:59
I doubt that's happening unless Lillard asks out. He's earned the right to dictate how his time in Portland ends.

How do you feel about a core of Green/Paolo/Sengun moving forward for Houston? Think Ivey would make any more sense? Or a trade?
Luke Adams
1:00
I actually really like the Paolo fit there. He makes more sense in that frontcourt than Ivey would in the Porter/Green backcourt -- especially if Wood's days in Houston are numbered.
Thanks for all the questions today, guys! We'll be back on Thursday with another live chat, hosted by Dana Gauruder.
