Do you see the Warriors picking up a veteran backup PG?  They have nobody that can handle the ball after Curry and Poole?
Luke Adams
12:42
Yeah, there aren't many great options out there in free agency, but I'd be surprised if the Warriors don't add one more ball-handler, even if it's just an insurance policy on a two-way contract to replace Chris Chiozza.

Is the Mavs’ front office just waiting to become a 3rd team in a trade for Mitchell or Durant to try to secure another rotation player, or do you think they really are content to go forward with what they have right now?
Luke Adams
12:44
I don't get the sense the Mavs have anything major up their sleeves for the rest of the summer. Even though they lost Brunson, they presumably view the addition of Wood and the reintegration of Hardaway as moves that can help make up for that. Guys on expiring contracts (Powell, Kleber, etc.) could be shopped in the fall or before the 2023 deadline if they feel the need for upgrades.

So now that Ayton is off the market where do the Raptors find their starting Center ?
Luke Adams
12:45
On their roster. Barring a Kevin Durant trade, I expect we'll either see a Barnes/Siakam/OG frontcourt again or Achiuwa will get a chance to start.

Why is there no love for Hassan Whiteside this offseason? Still a great defender and a matchup center against the teams who play traditional bigs
Luke Adams
12:47
I don't know if I'd consider him a "great" defender, but he's certainly solid enough for a minimum-salary backup center. I'm surprised we haven't seen him find a home yet -- he's one of the better bets of the remaining FAs to get a guaranteed contract and a 15-man roster spot.

KD going home to the WIZARDS - they have pieces which might entice the NETS, not sure about their picks though ...... any traction for this?
Luke Adams
12:49
Based on what the Nets are asking for, the Wizards don't have the necessary players OR picks to get it done. No one on their roster besides Beal (who's obviously not going anywhere) would move the needle for Brooklyn, and the Wiz have already traded away their 2023 first-rounder, which is protected through 2026 and would complicate trading additional picks.

realistically how many picks can Strus Vincent Yurtseven get Miami ?
Luke Adams
12:52
I like those guys but they're all on expiring contracts, so their trade value would be limited. Some second-rounders, sure, but it might be a challenge to get a first-round pick for any of them (Strus would be the best bet).

Are the Hawks expected to make any more moves?  Collins looking to begin the season on the roster? Who looks to be the backup 4?
Luke Adams
12:54
I'm a little surprised at how confidently multiple reporters were stating in June that Collins wouldn't be back in Atlanta. It makes me think that a move before the season remains a possibility. But if they don't make a move with Collins, they might just be done -- they have 14 guys on standard contracts now. Harkless is probably the backup 4.

Do you expect one or both of VanVleet/Siakam to be extended this offseason?
Luke Adams
12:55
VanVleet, yes. Siakam, no. No rush with Siakam still under contract for a couple more years.

What do bulls do if Ball doesn't get healthy again?
Luke Adams
12:57
In the short term, they have enough depth at the point guard position with Caruso, Ayo, Dragic, and White all in the mix. If Ball's health remains a long-term concern, that's another conversation, but I don't think we're there yet.

Will the players union take issue with Harden just giving away half his salary? Seems like a bad precedent to set.
Luke Adams
12:59
If he turned down his $47MM option to sign a one-year, $5MM deal, there would be some raised eyebrows at the NBPA. But the total value of his deal with the second-year player option will still likely be in the $65-70MM range. I doubt the players' union will stress too much about him not pushing for every possible dollar, especially since it's not like this is an unprecedented move (other stars have taken team-friendly deals in the past to help their teams add more talent).

Is it just me or does Brooklyn want way too much for durant? No chance I trade Scottie right?
Luke Adams

I'd be shocked. A package of OG or Siakam + Trent + a bunch of first-round picks is more than just about any other team can realistically offer. No need to bid against yourself.
Thanks for all the questions today, guys! Dana Gauruder will be back on Thursday with our next live chat. Have a great week.
