Luke Adams

Hey guys, get your questions in now and we'll get underway in about 70 minutes!
Vic O
12:01
What team ends up taking a flier on me? I was a great two-way player for like a season and a half...
Luke Adams
12:02
If the Heat want to bring you back at a one-year discount rate, that might be your best play. That way you'd still have Bird rights in 2022, which would give you more options (sign-and-trades, etc.) if you can rebuild your value a bit.

12:03
Hey guys who do you think the Cavs will get at 3? Hoping for Mobley!
Luke Adams
12:04
I think Mobley looks like the best bet at this point, especially if Jalen Green goes to Houston. The only way I could see the Cavs taking Suggs over Mobley would be if they already have a deal lined up involving Sexton.
Hawks Fan
12:05
It looks like the Hawks one hole they need to fill is at backup PG, with all the money they have to spend who do you think they bring in?
Luke Adams
12:07
TJ McConnell might be my favourite mid-level target for teams looking for a backup point guard. I think he'd be a nice fit for the Hawks in particular since they don't necessarily need a three-point shooter at that spot.

If the Pelicans are looking to make a salary dump with Bledsoe’s contract and will attach the #10 pick. What would the Knicks have to add to the #21 pick to make that happen?
Luke Adams
12:08
Probably nothing. I think the Pelicans would be happy if the price to get rid of Bledsoe was just to move down 11 spots in the draft.

Do u think the rockets will consider trading wood this off-season the old buy low and sell high methods
Luke Adams
12:09
I'm sure they won't rule it out, but I'd be a little surprised if it happened. He was the first major free agent the new front office invested in -- it wouldn't send a great message to future FAs to turn around and trade him a year later (unless he wants out).
Napoli
12:09
Hi Luke who in your opinion was the most surprising head coach to get hired this year.
Luke Adams
12:10
I thought Willie Green might need a few more years as an assistant before getting a shot. Ditto for Chauncey Billups. Neither of those hires was shocking, but if I'd had to predict a couple months ago which seven guys got hired, I wouldn't have named them.
Finals
12:11
Do the Bucks close out the series tonight?
Luke Adams
12:11
We'll have a poll going up on the site shortly asking exactly this. My head is saying yes (the Bucks have been pretty dominant at home this postseason), but my heart is hoping we get one more game on Thursday.

If the Cavs take Mobley at three, is the plan to keep Jarrett Allen and play him along side Mobley, or do a sign and trade with Allen?
Luke Adams
12:12
I think the plan would be to re-sign Allen and see how those two guys mesh. If it doesn't look good after a year, Allen should be movable.
Sixers
12:13
How bad was the Bridges for Zhaire Smith deal 3 years later?
Luke Adams
12:15
It was.... bad. The silver lining of it is that the extra pick the Sixers got in the deal was used in the Tobias Harris trade, which has worked out reasonably well. But even at the time, the Bridges/Smith swap looked questionable for a team that could've used some three-and-D wings.
Stockton
12:15
Can Spida be “the” 1 guard on a legitimate contender if the Jazz replaced Conley with another 3-d wing?
Luke Adams
12:16
I think you'd probably need to add a vet point guard who could play on or off the ball to ease Mitchell's workload (a George Hill type). But it could work in theory. The trouble would be finding that 3-and-D player -- letting Conley walk won't open up any extra cap room.

Can we just move the draft up a week? This is killing me....
Luke Adams
12:18
Funny, after last year's extended summer break, I actually feel like this offseason is moving quickly. Seems hard to believe that in about three weeks, the draft and free agency will essentially be over.
Magic
12:18
Should we try to package our 5 and 8 picks and move up? We've got some talent, especially on D, but our O is a hot mess. Desperately need scoring and shooting. Who should we draft if we can't move up?
Luke Adams
12:19
Moving up is worth considering, but there will be legitimate talent available at 5 and 8. Either Kuminga or Barnes would be a nice addition at 5, and a guy like Bouknight or Keon Johnson would provide some real upside at 8.
Stan
12:20
Why are seniors dinged come draft day as too old? They may be a couple of years older but they are also more polished (theoretically) and NBA ready
Luke Adams
12:21
More polished generally means they're close to their final form and don't have as much room to continue improving. NBA teams are suckers for a 19-year-old who could theoretically keep making huge strides in the next 3-4 years.
12:22
(And I don't mean to imply that approach is necessarily wrong. Investing in those raw young players can really pay off.)
Kuz Kontrol
12:22
Kuzma's trade value seems to change by the day without him actually playing any games. What's a realistic return for him?
Luke Adams
12:23
I don't think the Lakers should expect much. His bump in three-point percentage in 2020/21 helps increase his stock a little, but Kuzma isn't a strong enough shooter or defender to be the sort of player that teams are going to specifically target in trade talks.
Scott Wedman
12:23
Richaun Holmes is an unrestricted free agent and Marvin Bagley already has his bags packed, what are Sacramento’s best options for bigs: Cody Zeller, Nerlens Noel, and Bobby Portis?
Luke Adams
12:25
I like Noel a lot. If the Kings get a veteran stopgap, it might also make sense for them to target a big man with their lottery pick. Alperen Sengun and Kai Jones are a couple intriguing options.

Do you think Paul will finish his career in Phoenix, and will the results of this year's finals impact that decision?
Luke Adams
12:26
I expect him to sign a new contract or extension with the Suns this summer, and that'll probably be his last big contract. Maybe in three years he ends up chasing a ring on a minimum salary with another team, but I don't see him leaving Phoenix anytime soon, regardless of how the Finals end.

Odds of Raptors going into rebuild mode?
Luke Adams
12:28
I'd be surprised. I think a Suggs/VanVleet/OG/Siakam/free agent center starting lineup with Trent and Boucher off the bench could easily be a playoff team in the East. And that group could be even better if Lowry is back or they get something decent in a sign-and-trade for him.

What do you make of the back and forth on whether Lillard is or is not going to request a trade? Are journalists hearing incorrect things, or do you think this is just a way to handle and trade quietly?
Luke Adams
12:30
Only one reporter has said that Lillard was going to request a trade, and while I'm a fan of his, Henry Abbott isn't generally a major news-breaker. So I'm inclined to believe Lillard when he says asking to be traded isn't the plan for now. But if the Blazers take a big swing this offseason and the new-look roster doesn't fare much better next season, the situation could certainly come to a head by the 2022 deadline.

how come the Warriors publicly announced their Draft workouts last week but yesterday worked out UConn’s James Bouknight without telling the local Press?  Is that at the Request of his Player Agent?  Seems kind of a shady way to conduct business.
Luke Adams
12:32
It's a little odd, and I don't have any inside info on the Bouknight situation specifically, but there's no requirement that teams publicly announce who's coming in for workouts -- the Warriors had been one of the few teams being fairly forthcoming with that info. It feels like about two-thirds of the league's teams aren't announcing anything.
