Do you see Wiggins taking a pay cut to resign with the warriors or just sign with who gives him the most money?
Dana Gauruder
11:03
He's got a guaranteed salary of 33-mill plus for the upcoming season. Despite his playoff showing, I don't see him getting that kind of coin in future seasons. I think he'll have to take a pay cut regardless of where he signs next year.

What's the next move for the Pistons? They have to many bigs and PG's but need shooting on the wing
Dana Gauruder
11:05
I keep forgetting they took a flyer on Kevin Knox but I agree, too many big guys, especially if they want to work Livers and/or Duren into the mix. I was surprised they were willing to take on Noel's salary, though it's non-guaranteed after next season. I still think they'll try to hard to move Olynyk to ease the logjam. You could also see some 3-guard lineups there -- some combo of Cade, Ivey, Hayes, Burks -- if they don't get another rotation wing.

As long as we're throwing around Russ trades, what about a deal with Utah for Conley and Bogdanovic?
Dana Gauruder
11:07
That would be a pure salary dump move for the Jazz and I wouldn't rule it out. My guess is they'll want to resolve the Mitchell situation first, see what kind of package they can get for him, then move other pieces. But Ainge isn't going to hesitate to make a move if he gets a substantial offer for any of his guys.

Do you think the Pacers expected the Suns to match the offer sheet for Ayton? Never seen a team match so quickly. Usually they let it run the full two days to make the other team sweat it out. The whole process of the "will they/won't they" make an offer sheet narrative from the Pacers was very odd too. Saw some rumblings about Ayton and Turner sharing an agent and the agent trying to leverage the Pacers to get his clients paid.
Dana Gauruder
11:10
That was a curious situation. Phoenix all along had said it wouldn't let Ayton go for nothing. The two teams had tried to work out a sign and trade to no avail -- my take is the Suns weren't all that interested in Turner. You are correct in that the match came in a couple of eye blinks! I don't understand what Indiana was thinking in that instance, or even why it was so interested in Ayton if they're in a rebuild mode.

What year do we get a basketball team?
Dana Gauruder
11:12
Every year, the prospect of Seattle and/or Vegas getting a team is brought up and every year Silver throws cold water on that possibility. Seems as if they 30 franchises are bringing in so much revenue (more than expected after the pandemic) that it isn't all that eager to add new franchises. I think it will only happen if the Players' Association pushes for expansion in the next CBA -- obviously should be a priority since it would create more jobs.

Is there still a chance for the Mavericks to make a move before the season starts?
Dana Gauruder
11:14
I believe so. Don't see where Powell fits into their plans with the addition of McGee. I still see them being a little thin at the wing and/or guard spots, especially given that Hardaway was banged up last season.

Hornets expectations?
Dana Gauruder
11:18
More likely to regress than improve, though their offseason is still playing out. The Bridges situation has created a ton of uncertainty -- I would be surprised if he plays at all next season. I don't see them going into a rebuild as long as Ball is on the roster but they'll need a bounce back year from Hayward or a major trade involving Hayward and/or Rozier that brings in multiple pieces to upgrade their prospects for next season.

11:19
Where is Jordon Nwora going to end up?
Dana Gauruder
11:22
He's still a restricted free agent since the Bucks gave him a qualifying offer. He could simply sign for the QO unless it's pulled. I think he's still waiting around to see if someone will extend an offer sheet. Otherwise, I think the Bucks will try to find a way to squeeze him onto the roster.

Do the Heat wait on Durant situation to play out? Do they take KD &SIMMONS, for BAM, LOWERY, plus players, & picks? What do you think?
Dana Gauruder
11:25
I don't think the Heat want to give up Bam in any scenario. And I can't see them wanting to include a wild card like Simmons to get KD. Most logical scenario would involve Herro and Robinson plus other assets, such as picks/another young player or two. However, I don't know if the Nets want to commit to Herro on a long-term deal. Remember, Brooklyn doesn't have to do anything. The front office figures if it doesn't get an overwhelming offer for KD, he's most likely to suit up and play than sit around in limbo.

Is Shai being made available from OKC?
Dana Gauruder
11:28
Haven't heard anything in that regard. OKC made a long-term commitment to him and seems excited to see how the young group it has assembled will fit together. Only way I see the Thunder moving him would be for a true superstar whose timeline fits the team's age group. Who would that be? So, I don't see Shai going anywhere.

11:29
Knicks seem to be so focused on Mitchell, but 2 small guards scare me.  Is there a deal to be made for SAG and the Thunder?  The love picks and cheap young players that the Knicks have in spades.  He seems like a better fit for them
Dana Gauruder
11:32
I don't think that would work, unless OKC values Barrett more than most other franchises. The Thunder also seems to be finding out that having all those additional picks isn't as enticing as it might seem. A lot of those picks have protections, which make them less valuable. You look at the first-round picks the Knicks added -- most are at least top 10 protected, so it's not like the Thunder would be getting potential top 3 picks in return.

Do you think any team will sign free agent Blake Griffin before the season begins? If so what team?
Dana Gauruder
11:35
Kind of sad to see how Griffin's career has nosedived due to his knee issues. He was terrific during the 2018-19 season for Detroit, carried a team with an otherwise pedestrian roster into the playoffs. I can see Blake getting a vet's minimum somewhere. I also think he'd have a pretty good future as an NBA analyst, if he's interested in doing that.

Are the raptors a top 4 seed in the east?
Dana Gauruder
11:38
I guess part of that is predicated on the KD saga. I don't see the Raptors doing that, but who knows? They have a solid core group with Siakam, VanVleet, Barnes. I'd still rate them below the Heat and Celtics. Maybe on par with Bucks and Sixers. Definitely no lower than No. 5 as long as their three main guys are healthy.

11:39
Why no Richaun Holmes trade rumors this offseason? SAC is happy to just have him as a bench player now??
Dana Gauruder
11:42
Seems that way, right? Holmes drew interest in free agent market last summer but didn't have a particularly noteworthy season. He's making around 11 mill, which actually isn't an outrageous sum for a top second unit player. I still think he'd get 20-plus minutes with the way the roster is currently constructed.
Bobo
11:42
do you see the Celtics trading Derrick White now that Brogdon is there? His role is likely going to be greatly reduced in BOS and they could really use another good big to backup Time Lord and Horford
Dana Gauruder
11:46
I don't think they have to rush to do so but White would seem like a movable piece if they found a suitor looking to move frontcourt rotation player. They could rotate Brodgon, Smart and White in the backcourt and keep their minutes down until they found a way to break the logjam. That being said, it's a good problem to have.
Tugger
11:48
What can the Spurs get for some of their vet wings like Doug McDermott and Josh Richardson?
Dana Gauruder
11:50
Probably not much. McDermott might bring more, due to his solid 3 point numbers, but I doubt the Spurs could get a first-rounder for either one unless it's heavily protected. The Spurs are going to have ridiculous amount of cap room next season, regardless of whether they move McDermott.

11:51
The Rockets are looking overloaded on prospects.   Do you see them trading Gordon, Martin, or Mathews to thin out the squad a little?
Dana Gauruder
11:52
I have to think at some point Gordon will be dealt. Certainly not a fit for a team building around a very young core. I think there's a bigger market for him than the other two.
Tugger
11:52
Do you think there is any chance the Pistons could sign Colin Sexton to an offer sheet? If they wait until they spend all their cap space to sign Kevin Knox with part of the MLE and finish Kemba's buyout they could have $15-16M to offer Sexton in the first year of a deal
Dana Gauruder
11:55
The prospect of Sexton joining them seems farfetched now, especially since they've eaten up a good portion of their cap space. Even if/when they buy out Kemba, the cap hit would still be on the books (could be stretched). Most of the chatter about the Pistons possibly chasing Sexton came before they drafted Ivey. Don't see why they would pay heavily for Sexton if Cade/Ivey is their longterm backcourt.

11:55
What going on with my Magic. It's been a very quiet offseason.
Dana Gauruder
11:57
The Magic have plenty of good young pieces, especially the Banchero/Wagner duo at forward. Interesting that they basically decided to re-sign their own FAs (Harris, Bamba). Obviouisly, they're in no rush to get to playoff level -- they'll use next season as an evaluation process, then perhaps make more of an effort to get back to respectability.
Lu
11:58
Whats the deal with John Collins? He was supposed to be traded b4 the draft but he's still with the Hawks.
Dana Gauruder
12:00
The Hawks pulled off a major deal, getting a quality guard to pair up with Trae. They obviously are struggling to move Collins because the market has shrunk. Potential suitors have made other moves and Collins is signed through 2025-26, which makes him tougher to deal.
