Isaac could play C in some lineups, but it would be risky to lean on him too heavily there -- he doesn't have the size to guard the Jokics and Embiids of the world.

A lot has been made in the DFW media about Doncic needing more star power ... but if he has solid 3&D players around him like Nic Batum, Danny Green and PJ Tucker (to compliment what he already has in Finney-Smith and Kleber) WITHOUT another star added, is that enough for Dallas to take the next step forward?
Luke Adams
12:34
It makes sense in theory, but for it to work, you'd probably need guys like Batum, Green, and Tucker in their prime, rather than the current mid-30s versions of them. Don't think they're the answer now.

It's a guard/wing driven league now, so shouldn't Mobley be behind Suggs and Green? Rockets making a big mistake if they draft him? Especially considering his super quiet personality? Cannot build around him...
Luke Adams

Jokic and Embiid finished 1-2 in MVP voting this year, so it's not as if big men are entirely extinct. Mobley isn't a dinosaur either -- his skill set is basically what teams want in modern bigs (athletic, versatile, switchable, great rim protector, improving jump shot). I agree that a traditional big man shouldn't be picked ahead of Green and Suggs, but Mobley can be much more than that.

Will Detroit trade back in to the first round
Luke Adams
12:38
James Edwards, The Athletic's Pistons beat writer, seems to think the team will acquire a late 1st-rounder in addition to the No. 1 pick: https://theathletic.com/2689319/2021/07/06/pistons-could-add-another-f...
12:39
I think it might take more than a package of this year's 2nds (37, 42, 52) for Detroit to get into the first round, but I expect Troy Weaver to try. He showed last year when he acquired the Saddiq Bey pick that he's very comfortable trading quantity for quality.

Everyone seems to think we can easily add Lillard, Simmons, etc. How likely is it realistically?
Luke Adams
12:40
Very unlikely. If those guys are traded, other teams will be able to offer stronger packages. Also, fair or unfair, I get the sense that teams aren't especially keen on helping the Lakers accumulate star power if they can avoid it.

I have been scouting for months now and I am wondering who is better Kuminga or Barnes? Kuminga is raw and inefficient. Barnes got great playmaking skills which is tempting me to pick him
Luke Adams
12:42
I have to preface this with the caveat that I'm extremely out of my depth scouting teenage prospects. But based on what I've seen of both guys, Barnes is the one I like a little better.

12:43
Do you have a 2nd round draft guy that you think could be a starter one day?
Luke Adams
12:44
Don't feel strongly enough about any second-rounders to project them as future starters, but I like Miles McBride to develop into a high-end backup along the lines of Jalen Brunson or Monte Morris.
Rockets
12:44
Think there’s any deals out there that would make sense for the Rockets to consider trading Christian Wood?
Luke Adams
12:47
My sense is that the Rockets won't be actively shopping Wood and would have to get a pretty strong offer to pull the trigger on anything. Maybe there's a deal to be made with the Hornets or Raptors.

would the Magic trading the 5th pick, the 33rd pick, a future 1st rounder and Gary Harris get the #2 pick from Houston if they also agreed to take Eric Gordon's contract?
Luke Adams
12:48
Don't think that'd be enough. Your odds of adding a future All-Star just look way higher at No. 2 than No. 5 this year.
Tim James
12:48
Is Leandro Balmaro coming over stateside? Is he enough to forget about not having a FRP?
Luke Adams
12:49
I expect the Timberwolves to sign him, and he's a pretty intriguing prospect. I wouldn't count on him being better than this year's No. 7 pick though.

Of Larry Nance Jr., Kevin Love, or Colin Sexton, which will not be on the Cav's roster when training camp opens?
Luke Adams
12:50
In order from least likely to most likely:
  1. Kevin Love
  2. Collin Sexton
  3. Larry Nance Jr.
Love's contract is obviously way harder to move than the others but I get the feeling the Cavs want to move on from him and will try pretty hard to make it happen -- if not this offseason then definitely at the 2022 deadline.

Am I worth Reggie Jackson's 2020-2021 money or 100-120 million (years unknown) in free agency?
Luke Adams
12:52
A Brogdon/VanVleet-type contract (four years, $85MM) seems more than fair for you. Maaaybe five years, $100MM. Anything more than that feels like a mistake. And frankly, I wouldn't feel great about anything higher than four years, $70MM.

Assuming Kawhi stays with the Clips, what else could they possibly add/change without way exceeding the cap?
Luke Adams
12:55
The Clippers' ability to add someone with the taxpayer mid-level will be limited, so trades are their best bet. Anyone not named Kawhi Leonard or Paul George should probably be made available. None of their contracts are too onerous to be moved, and Mann and the 2028 first-rounder would be intriguing sweeteners.

Being a Finals with two of the smallest markets in the league, how would you measure success when ratings without the big names would presumably be low, though it’s a good thing for the league
Luke Adams
12:58
It's in the NBA's best interest long-term to have a couple fresh, non-marquee teams involved in the Finals, especially when those teams have young star power. It's too bad Giannis is hurt, but it's pretty easy to imagine Devin Booker becoming one of the league's more popular players among young fans if he has some huge games and the Suns win the title. Having more of those popular, marketable starts benefits the league in the long run.
Thanks for all your questions today, guys! Apologies if I didn't get to yours. Let's do it again next week. Enjoy Game 1 of the Finals tonight!
