Will Carmelo Anthony end up back with the Lakers or do you think he'll sign with a new team?
Dana Gauruder
12:04
There have been some rumblings that he'll wind up with the franchise where he started his career. Not sure how credible those rumors are but makes some sense. Denver's frontcourt depth is suspect beyond Jeff Green. Plus Porter will probably have his minutes monitored as he eases back into an NBA schedule. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if Carmelo still winds with the Lakers but he'd probably have a reduced role.

If Quinn Cook, Matthew Dellavedova, KZ Okpala, Kent Bazemore, and Chima Moneke are competing for 3 Kings roster spots, who do you think will be the odd men out?
Dana Gauruder
12:08
You can add Sam Merrill to that mix. I would think Dellavedova and Bazemore are most likely to MAKE the roster. I also like Okpala's chances, so I'd say Cook, Moneke and Merrill would be the training camp cuts. But that's just an educated guess, given Dellly and Bazemore's NBA experience.

What do you think is the highest Bulls can go this year? Will Dragic and Drummond be enough to give them little extra push in playoffs or will they be a play-in team
Dana Gauruder
12:12
I definitely like the Bulls to finish in the top 6. They'll have Williams back for a full season. They've got DeRozan, LaVine, Vuc and plenty of depth, especially in the backcourt. Dragic gives them insurance in case Ball's injury lingers, and Drummond is a pretty good option for the second unit behind Vuc. Cavs and Hawks are the only play in teams that  could move up but I think the Bulls' roster is better.

Any chance Hassan Whiteside signs with Boston as their backup center? He's got his faults but I'd trust him more than Kornet
Dana Gauruder
12:15
Not out of the question, as the Celtics seems to have an opening behind Williams at that spot. However, you'd think if they were interested in Whiteside, they would have signed him by now. Whiteside's free agency has been awfully quiet -- doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest in him but an early-season injury may open up a spot for him somewhere.

Any potential for kings getting involved in a Durant or Donovan trade as the third team, or do they roll with what they've got?
Dana Gauruder
12:19
They seem to be pretty content with the moves they've made. Signing Monk and trading for Huerter upgraded them at the wing spots. Obviously, Murray is going to play a ton right away. You can argue the merits of whether they would have been better off in the long run drafting Ivey but Murray was probably the most NBA ready prospect in the draft. I don't think they'd be signing all these free agents to non-guaranteed or partially guaranteed deals if they intended to get involved in a big trade.

Hi Dana! Do you think Nik Stauskas, the one and only "Sauce Castillo", is out of the NBA for good after being waived last month by the Pacers, or will he make it back? Is there any word about him playing overseas next season?
Dana Gauruder
12:23
Haven't heard anything new since the Pacers waived him. I know he had considered the possibility of walking away from basketball last season if he didn't get another NBA opportunity. He seems to be the type that has nine NBA lives, so I wouldn't rule it out. He may have to sign a G League deal and wait for an opportunity, as he did last season.

I'm the nets , do I want 3 starting caliber players for Durant or 1 and picks..
Dana Gauruder
12:28
I think you'd lean toward getting some quality players as well as picks. Figure that you're going to trade him to a serious contender, so unless they have some excess first-rounders those picks won't be all that valuable. Even in the rumors regarding Jaylen Brown in a potential Celtics trade, the Nets reportedly wanted Marcus Smart and a number of draft picks. Supposedly, they first asked for both Tatum and Brown! So clearly, they want some really good players and picks for KD. I don't see them getting just one starter back in a trade.
Interesting
12:29
Do the pacers make sense for Mitchell? He's young enough to pair with a bigger guard In haliburton and they got mathurin on the wing, turner as an anchor. 3 team with like hield, pat bev, Clarkson to Lakers. Jazz get all pacers future picks, duarte/Jackson/smith and a couple Lakers first?
Dana Gauruder
12:34
The Pacers have taken kind of an unconventional approach. They're sort of rebuilding, but then they pushed all their chips in during the failed attempt to sign Ayton. A trade like that would give them a nice trio in the backcourt/wing. That's the type of deal I could see happening. I don't see Hield being in their longterm plans and Beverley has no reason to play in Utah if they're not serious about contending this upcoming season. The flip side is that Indiana would be strapped of draft assets, so they'd better be convinced they have enough to contend quickly, not only in the East but in their much improved division as well.

Do you think the Cavs are better off with Sexton as a starter or 6th man?
Dana Gauruder
12:38
I like the pairing of Garland and LeVert better but really, if Sexton is the sixth man, he's going to play a ton with both of those guys anyway. There certainly are scenarios where all three will be on the court at the same time. The bigger issue is if/when Sexton's contract situation will be resolved. I still think signing the qualifying offer would be a good strategy for him, if he's confident in the knee. He can build up his value and be one of the top free agents on the market next season.

Are the Sixers an option for some veterans looking to sign for the minimum?
Dana Gauruder
12:41
The Sixers already have a full roster (20) for camp, though they could a player or two loose before camp and sign a veteran if they wish. But if they had a serious interest in one of the main free agents, they could have already signed that player if they were willing to take the minimum. Perhaps some free agents are still waiting to see if they can get more but right now, the Sixers probably will go with this group heading into camp.

When will free agency resume.  It has been very quiet.  Is everyone waiting for a KD trade??
Dana Gauruder
12:47
Free agency hasn't stopped since it opened on June 30. There have still been players signing deals in the past few weeks, though mostly of the  training camp, non-guaranteed variety. There are still a number of veteran free agents out there waiting for offer but it's just a possible KD deal holding things up. You can also throw in the Mitchell and Kyrie situations as well, plus the simple fact that it's mid-August and camps don't open until late September. It's a down time right now -- it's vacation time for front office personnel and players alike. There will be more of a sense of urgency to fill any remaining roster spots early next month.

I am shocked that Draymond Green thinks he is a max player.   He is a tremendous defensive player and passer but he has a very limited scoring ability.   I can't see any team including the Pistons coming anywhere near a max deal.  As a Warrior fan I would rather pay Wiggins and let Green test the market.   I think he'll be shocked at what's out there
Dana Gauruder
12:50
We'll see how things play out this season. He'd have to take a $27.5 gamble to opt out after next season. I'm sure if he's healthy, he can land a multi-year contract somewhere. But he'll be 34 and that is going to factor into any suitor's thinking. It would be logical for Green to want to return to his home state and help the young core learn how to win. But i can't see the Pistons tying up too much of their cap to him, considering they'll have a lot of big rookie extensions to deal with -- Bey, Cade, Ivey, Duren, etc.

Is the league finally deep enough for expansion?
Dana Gauruder
12:54
If you are talking about true superstars, there's not many to go around. If you're talking about having enough NBA-level players out there, certainly I think they can add another team or two without watering down the quality of play. The league has gotten younger over the years but there are plenty of guys in their late 20s and 30s who are finding it increasingly difficult to stay in the league, even though they're good enough to stick. On another level, there are plenty of cities worthy of an NBA team -- Seattle tops that list, in my opinion.

I still think the Celtics need another All Star to win a championship. I’d like to see the Celtics make a trade with Utah. Utah gets Marcus Smart, Derrick White, a filler, and two unprotected first round picks. and the Celtics get Donovan Mitchell. Who says no?
Dana Gauruder
1:00
Tatum and Brown are a pretty solid duo and they've made some improvements with Brogdon and Gallinari. As discussed earlier, maybe they need a little more frontcourt depth but they're not getting another star player without surrendering Brown. What would the Jazz get out of the additions of Smart and White while giving up their best player? Ainge is only going to give up Mitchell if he gets several unprotected picks that could be lottery selections as well as some young talent. That's why the Knicks have been the favorites to land Mitchell -- they have numerous first-rounders at their disposal plus some desirable young players.
