How is Lebron going to play with his son if he just signed an extension and cant become a FA
Luke Adams
12:52
The extension includes an opt-out in 2024, which is the first year Bronny would be draft-eligible.
McNair?
12:52
Do I get fired if Kings don't make playoffs this year? Will the owner ever figure it out?
Luke Adams
12:54
It feels (to me, at least) like Monte McNair just got hired, but this will be his third year on the job, and so far the Kings have a worse record under him than they did in the two years before he arrived. I don't know if he needs to make the playoffs to keep his job, but the Kings at least to show real signs of forward progress this season -- if they don't make the play-in tournament, he's probably in some trouble.

How do they keep having the schedule having less and less travel?
Luke Adams
12:56
It sounds as if the back-to-back matchups the NBA experimented with during the COVID seasons (ie. Charlotte playing in Miami twice in a row) didn't have a noticeable adverse effect on attendance and ratings, so the league is doubling down on them and including more in this year's schedule. That's one big reason.

Do Sixers get over the hump this year? Can they realistically make a run like Boston did last year?
Luke Adams
12:58
It feels like there has been a real element of randomness to the Eastern Conference playoffs since LeBron headed west, with injuries and key plays (Kawhi's four-bounce buzzer beater, KD's foot on the 3-point line) playing huge factors in determining which teams make the Finals. If the Sixers get some luck in 2023, they certainly have the talent to make a Celtics-like run.

Is Mitchell even a good fit for the Knicks? Having him and Brunson in the backcourt seems ill-advised, given that neither is a good defender and both are undersized. It's not like Randle is a good defender on the wing, and we've seen how going small and depending on a large, tough defensive Center worked for Utah.

I actually agree with this. I'd be more into the idea of the Knicks taking a big swing for Mitchell if they hadn't just committed $100MM+ to Brunson.

If the Lakers were to sign Schroder what would be the most money they could offer him
Luke Adams

The vet minimum, which for Schröder would be about $2.6MM. The Lakers have already used their mid-level exception and don't have access to the bi-annual or a sign-and-trade because they're over the hard cap.

With so many players rumored to be traded this off-season, but many of them not, it seems that the February trade deadline is more ripe for movement than normal. Do you agree? I’m especially anticipating a busy deadline for the Mavs….am I right to be optimistic?
Luke Adams

I do agree. Not sure that stars like Durant will be on the move, but there are a lot of second- and third-tier guys who I thought would be traded this offseason that haven't been (Eric Gordon, Myles Turner, John Collins, etc.). It should be a fun deadline.

Thanks for all the questions, guys. Have a great week! Our next live chat will be on Saturday at noon CT with Dana.
