Hi, unfortunately we can't say when at the moment as the University is still in lockdown. In the meantime the Accommodation team are offering a session at our virtual open day which you can sign up to here - https://virtualopenday.leeds.ac.uk/events/ There you will be able to speak to the accommodation team and see images of the accommodation sites.

Hi, the University will be offering a mixed approach with some teaching being online and some being faced to face. We will be constantly reviewing this approach inline with government guidance.

Some universities are planning online teaching will this be a thing in University of Leeds?
Helen

Hi, the delivery of our courses from September onward will depend on government guidance on social distancing at the time. The approach at Leeds will be flexible, offering a mix of face-to-face and online learning. And we will be constantly reviewing our approach.

Currently, teaching activities with large numbers of students will go ahead using digital technology. Teaching in small-group settings, including seminars, tutorials and practical’s, will be delivered face to face on campus wherever it can be done safely, in line with government advice.

We are also working towards supporting the wider student experience at Leeds which we know is a key part of making the most of your time at university.

We’re taking measures to ensure you feel safe and confident about staying in our accommodation and we’re sure you’ll soon feel at home. We’re introducing a staggered and contactless arrivals process, as well as effective social distancing measures, so you’ll be able to meet new people and socialise in a safe way. All our residences will be cleaned more regularly and hand sanitiser will be provided for you to use.

Are accomodation arrangements going to be different this year?
Helen

Hi Jessica, your first year is a great year to meet new people and join clubs and societies. All new students will take part in programme of induction and orientation activities to help you familiarise yourself and settle into Leeds as quickly as possible. We're busy working with the teams in Leeds University Union to develop a series of activities and events, both on campus and online, so you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome when you arrive.

Also how would you stay to make the most of my first year despite the covid-19 situation?
Ailsa Mackenzie

Hi Jessica! I am an undergraduate at the Uni of Leeds studying Biology. I joined Facebook groups online to speak to people that would be in my accommodation and course when I started Uni. this really helped as I had people I could meet up with or talk to when I got to Leeds. I would say that you don't need to do an academic prep in particular as first year is about getting everyone up to speed and to the same level but if you wanted to, you could go over some notes or read the module outline of your course to see what to expect! Hope this helps!

Hi @Guest. We plan to reopen the Leeds campus and student accommodation in September and we are working hard to ensure that the campus is a safe and welcoming environment for students when they arrive. The personal safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are putting appropriate safety and hygiene measures in place. You can find out more here: https://coronavirus.leeds.ac.uk/student-advice/safety-for-students/
