It's one of the more interesting potential destinations, I agree, but I still don't see anything happening.

I love Malkin however, living in Charlotte I don't get to watch him everyday like I did in Pittsburgh. With that said, I was shocked to see the drop in skill level. It is like seeing your nephew show up to the house a foot taller than the last time you saw him....but his parents can't see the growth because they were exposed to it everyday. Jason, do you see how badly his skill set diminished?

I'm not sure I followed the analogy, John. However, having watched Malkin the entire season and talked to him about this stuff, I think confidence was a huge factor. He was pressing for much of this season. I really don't think it involved his skills diminishing.

What is your take on all of the first round upsets?  Overconfidence?  League parity?  Will and desire?  And did you forecast CBJ's buy-in of Torts?  He seemed on the ropes most of the season but now the team is really fun to watch.  Could we see an all-Metro Eastern Conference Final?

It's been really wild. I didn't see this coming at all. And you're right -- I didn't even think of that, an all-Metro final. I think Columbus just goes to show how crazy chemistry can be in the NHL. Remember right after they added those guys, it looked like a gigantic failure. Now, here we are. Funny how those things sometimes take awhile to come together. Like everyone else, I've been completely shocked to see so many top teams lose. I think it proves the parity in the NHL right now is really something else.

Who knew we'd miss Ian Cole, Ron Hainsey, and Trevor Daley so much?  I don't think this team is too far away.  But they do need at least one more defenseman that doesn't get hemmed in their own end, which is something those guys did well.

I think those guys are great players, yes, but I think you might be trying to find convenient facts. Those guys also had better forward support. I wouldn't ignore this in all of that.
Thanks Jason

What are the chances we’ll ever see a Penguins offseason where people accept the result calmly, with an overall sense that [stuff] happens, they can’t win every year, and they’ve been rather lucky with success all things considered?
Jason Mackey

I have no idea, but what are you supposed to do when this is what the organization is saying on the record? It's not the media running with some sort of narrative. The dude making these decisions is openly talking about it.

Pens didn't play all that great at home this year. Time to demolish PPG and start again?

I'm gonna go with no on that one.
OK, folks. That's all the time we have for this week. Thank you, as always, for participating. We'll do this again soon!
