Does the upcoming draft have any players that look like future legends or once in a lifetime talents?  EVery so often a player looks like a future star, even if it ultimately doesn't pan out.
Jason Mackey

Dahlin would be one, but honestly, with this current trip on the heels of the Penguins' season ending, I haven't had a ton of time to delve into draft research.

In your humble opinion, is Eric Lindros a Hall of Famer?
Jason Mackey
1:12
Yes, I think so.

You have to give an answer, Mackey - If it was your choice, what is the best team name for a future Seattle NHL franchise?
Jason Mackey
1:13
Supersonics.

Will the legalization nationally of sports gambling make the NHL players susceptible to illegal payoffs, game fixing, and other terrible sins that will ruin sports?
Jason Mackey
1:13
I don't think so. Would be really, really hard to fix an NHL game even if you tried.

Isn't the Grateful Dead just KISS for hippies?    Average music that is marketed well and slapped on tons of tshirts and bumper stickers.
Jason Mackey
1:14
I would disagree with that. I don't think the music is average, one; not from a musical standpoint or from the multiple layers that go into it. Dead music also creates a feeling amount listeners that I'm not sure Kiss fans get.

Where is the NHL draft being held this years?

Do the Lightning seem a little flat to you? I don't think they have the depth afterall to win a Cup.
Jason Mackey
1:15
They looked pretty ... not flat the other night. I think they do. I think that fourth line can produce some offensively, even if that has been a challenge. They're even with the Caps in terms of depth, IMO.

Hey Jason, not to make a big deal about it, but I saw last week when you ripped the guy who mentioned liking the band Train. They've had some big hits - Drops of Jupiter & Meet Virginia are two you'd probably recognize. They actually formed out in the Bay Area just like the Grateful Dead. Anyway, you ought to give them a shot. They can jam pretty well on their live stuff and I think musically you'll see a lot of similarities to the Dead. I think Meet Virginia, for example, sounds a lot like New Speedway Boogie. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to give them a listen, especially since we've all tried to get more into the Dead for you. Also, check out Train's older stuff first. The newer stuff is a bit commercial. Thanks, Jason!
Jason Mackey

Thanks, music nerd. I'll check it out. To be clear: I didn't "rip" the guy/gal. I said I didn't care much for Train. That is all.

What player jersey of the Pens do you see most fans wearing at games? Crosby?
Jason Mackey
1:15
Crosby or Mario, honestly.

Right now, nationally, who do you think is the most popular NHL player or the face of the league so to speak?
Jason Mackey
1:16
I honestly don't think there's a consensus pick. Crosby and McDavid are obvious. Maybe in Toronto it's Matthews. Winnipeg, Laine. Vegas, Fleury. On and on. There are a lot. I'm not sure why the NHL -- above other pro sports leagues -- grabs onto the Face of the League concept. It's OK to have a bunch of stars and market them. NBA seems to do OK with the concept.

Jason...thoughts on Carl Hagelin for Jake Muzzin ...Kong’s want to get faster Muzzin when healthy fits a 3-4 defenseman and the money matches up !!
Jason Mackey
1:18
Wouldn't hate it. However, one advantage to moving Hagelin is to repurpose that money into Guentzel/Rust. They're going to need paid eventually. But I could also see the Muzzin move making sense because it addresses a need. Again, don't hate it.

These goalie equipment changes that you've been reporting on seem pretty extreme. Will the new goalie gear be as safe as the current stuff?
Jason Mackey
1:18
Good one. Reporting on? Must've been while I was sleeping.

What does a Jason Mackey like to do in his free time?    Besides listen to choice Dead nuggs of course!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jason Mackey

When I get some, I'll let you know. Ha. Been a busy couple of months. Nothing exciting. If I can sneak away for a run, I like that. Some sports watching and reading. But I have a wonderful wife and son at home. Hanging out with them is something I can't wait to do more of.

Will Jagr be back in the NHL next season?
Jason Mackey
1:19
No. He'll play another year for Kladno.

Are the Knight for real? Could this team win the Cup?   And would a Vegas stanley cup win be more impressive than the Avalanche winning it all their first season?
Jason Mackey
1:20
I think so. They started from nothing, even if the expansion rules were the best they've ever been. I think the Golden Knights are absolutely good enough. If Fleury keeps playing the way he is, there's zero reason why they couldn't win this thing.

Does S. Crosby live in Canada during the offseason?
Jason Mackey
1:20
Yes. He goes back home to Nova Scotia. Has his own place.

Is this B. Hayton everyone is raving about going into the Draft the real deal? Or is he a poser?
Jason Mackey

Poser.

Jason, do you think the Cole for Brassard deal was a killer blow to this season?
Jason Mackey
1:21
Killer blow might be a bit strong, but it certainly didn't pan out the way the Penguins hoped. It hurt that Brassard got hurt and never fully found a fit. But I can't fault the Penguins for going for it.

Jason, when you are totally spaced out listening to the Dead, do you imagine the band members on stage jamming or do you visualize nature scenes? I used to imagine the band members, but now I mainly imagine nature scenes they might have visited in the California area.    Any good concerts you listening to these days?    Thanks for the Great Pens Coverage and Have a great summer!
Jason Mackey
1:22
You, too, Rob. Honestly, a lot of times when I'm listening to the Dead, I'm working and doing other things. Been in a big '89 and '90 zone. Loving it.

Who should win Defenseman of the Year for this season?
