Never going to root for a guy to get hurt. I'd also give the Conn Smythe to Ovechkin or Holtby if the Capitals go on to win this thing.

It is possibility that pens get Robin Lehnner? As backup goalie
Jason Mackey
1:56
No, I don't think so. I think they're plenty happy with Jarry/DeSmith in that role.

Hi to Sidney
Jason Mackey

Will pass that along.

How’s off-season treating him?
Jason Mackey
1:56
I'm pretty sure he's enjoying the downtime.

Who are the 5th and 6th defensemen next year? and if GMJR is looking for one, do you think he's looking for the Justin Shultz type or the Hal Gill type?
Jason Mackey
1:57
Probably the Hal Gill type, although I think the Penguins would like the defenseman they get to be a better skater than Gill.

Talk of the expansion to Seattle is popping up more lately...Do we know how definite it is of Seattle being the 2018-2019 Expansion??
Jason Mackey
1:57
It's going to happen. It's just a matter of how soon it happens.

Sidney Crosby there?
Jason Mackey

In the office with me? No.

What do you make of JR’s comments that Sprong “will” by playing on the team next season? Do you think he and Sullivan are at odds over player management, in particular Sprong? It seems like Sullivan does not want to play Sprong. Yet we would have had a better idea of what Sprong could bring to the team already (thus help decide whether to trade Kessel) if Sullivan had played him regularly for 30 games or so this past year. Do you think Sprong will be traded if Sullivan refuses to play him?
Jason Mackey
1:59
No, I don't think Sprong will be traded. I do think there's an issue with Sprong's game that Sullivan doesn't like. Perhaps the defense. Perhaps how he carries himself. It's OK for the GM and coach to differ some on player usage. If the coach wins games and Cups, it's cool. We're talking about it because they lost. I think Jim made his point. He wants Sprong in. I think you'll see Sprong play this upcoming season, and Sullivan will have to get over it.

Jason, Big fan of yours! Do you see us going after John T this offseason?
Jason Mackey
1:59
Thanks, Jeffry. I see them inquiring. I don't think it will get serious because I think it's just too hard cap-wise, and I really doubt Tavares would accept the role available to him here.

How do the Penguins plan to add a 4th liner with the number of forwards they currently have? With all the RFAs back, they have 14 waiver eligible forwards. There wouldn't be space to add unless they trade a forward.

Ding ding ding ding.

Sidney Crosby there?  How’s off-season treat him?
Jason Mackey
2:00
It's treating him very well.

Jason, do you feel that Jarry will be moved in the off-season since he has little to accomplish in the AHL and that the Pens seem comfortable with DeSmith as a backup?  And if moved, what could the Pens receive in a trade?
Jason Mackey
2:01
Yes, I think there's a chance he would get moved. I think he's better suited to the role of a starter. What they would get back? Tough to say, considering Jarry was a second-round pick. Maybe that. Maybe part of a package to shed the Hunwick contract.

Is Sidney enjoy off-season life?
Jason Mackey
2:01
Yes, the offseason is treating Sidney Crosby very well. He appreciates all of those concerned.
AR

Jason, who would you rather have on your team today? James Neal or Phil Kessel?
Jason Mackey
2:02
Phil Kessel.

Do you think Frank Pietrangelo's "The Save" was replaced with the new and improved "The Save" last night?
Jason Mackey
2:02
No, I think Pietrangelo's was better. While great, Holtby didn't have to combat as much lift as Frankie did from Peter Stastny.

How’s off-season treating Sidney?   Is he enjoying it ?
Jason Mackey

What in the world is happening here? This is like the 10th time this question have been asked. C'mon, folks. Nothing better to do?

would they consider bringing reeves and cole back
Jason Mackey
2:03
No. And I don't think either would want to come back.

do you think we'll see more of sheary as sid's winger? i personally see a lot of chemistry.
Jason Mackey
2:04
Assuming he's back, yes. I think they would consider it, simply because Sheary offers the most value in that spot. He's not a bottom-six guy. I've said for a long time, either you play him in your top-six, or you don't play him at all.

would they go after michael grabner
Jason Mackey
2:04
I don't think he'll be anywhere near affordable for them. Great player, though.

have you met beckham and leo murray? not a very hockey question but they're huge
Jason Mackey
2:05
I have, actually. Bumped into Matt, his girlfriend and dogs while walking with my wife, son and dog. Yes, they're huge.

Question about Geno: I recently watched some of the playoff games from 2009. It reinforced my belief that when engaged/enraged/motivated/PO'ed, Malkin is simply the best, most unstopplable player. Look at those games against Carolina and Detroit. He was a beast! Where did that Malkin go? He had a good year but we don't see that Malkin anymore. I want that Malkin back.
