May be early to ask this but has the GM or coaching staff shared any thinking on how they will approach rules changes like how will they use the 26th man?  Would ddsignating Brault as a two-way player rank on their list at all?  Etc.
Jason Mackey

They've shared some, but it's been more just speaking about the impact. Nothing concrete, especially as it pertains to Brault.

Everything I've seen/read about Shelton is that he's a player's coach, good sense of humor, etc. But he also LOOKS like a guy who could be intimidating and take that approach if necessary...yes/no?
Jason Mackey

I don't think so. Players would see through that. Shelton is a really good, personable dude. I think players would see through that if he tried to act like some sort of tough guy.

Is the electronic umpire tech going in this year? If so, doesn't that take away some of the effectiveness, per se, of the catchers like Stallings who are good pitch framers?
Jason Mackey

It's not going into the major leagues this year. But yeah, once it does -- and I think it will -- it will unfortunately devalue pitch-framing some. I'm not a huge fan of that part of it.

over under on 70 wins?  I think this team was more average last year thaN horrible and they were a young team that underachieved. Not mich game changing talent bit steady progress, better coaching and a litt luck could get them back to just below mediocre rather than awful

I think over. I actually see the Pirates as an 80-84 win team, somewhere in there. I'm sure people will think I'm insane, but I actually think they can improve quite a bit over last year, which was more of a disaster than I think fans realized.

What are your thoughts on Cole Tucker? Everybody seems ready to send Frazier out the door to move Newman and make room for Tucker. He is better defensively but haven’t seen enough offensively to just assume he is the future.

I like Cole Tucker a lot, but he has to hit more and strike out less than he did last year to nail down a spot. Can he do that? Absolutely. I think he's very close, and he's a great teammate, all that fun stuff. He just needs to do it. On Frazier, I like him, too, but I can see business-wise why it would make sense to trade him.

Bigger PNC crowd - Pirate opener or Green Day/Weezer/FOB?

Pirates opener. Rick, dude, you've asked me more questions today than my wife.

I have been reading from other sites like Pirates Prospects how the last year or two of international signings have been pretty good.  Are you hearing anything like that from scouts or people that you talk to?
Jason Mackey

Yes. And especially under Ben Cherington (and Steve Sanders) the Pirates are likely to fare much better on the international market.
OK, folks. That does it. Sorry for the quick chat, but it was tough logistically with Jarrod Dyson being here. Look forward to doing this again next week.
