The Cubs lost 100 games, and then 90 games, in Theo Epstein's first two seasons as their GM. Their burn-it-all-down rebuild didn't happen quickly, but it ended with a World Series and Cherington is trying to mimick it right? Cherington has now been the Pirates' GM for around the same amount of time. How do you think Cherington is doing directly compared to Theo?

I don't think it's fair to compare the two, in either direction. And I wouldn't say that Ben is using Theo's template or anything like that. Way different markets with much different amounts of TV money. I do think they've done similar things by building the farm system, worrying about development, etc. But I think the comparisons should probably end there.

Worse trade - the Rockies' franchise player (arguably the best position player in MLB) for a bag of balls or the Pirates' top three prospects for Archer, who just ended up back on the team WITH those prospects?

I would go Archer trade. It honestly might be the worst in the history of the sport. But Arenado was bad, too.

Who will the Pirates' top position player prospect be come, say, this winter?  I personally have a feeling about a Swaggerty breakout (i'm sure he'll have little enough MLB time to still qualify as a prospect)

I'm saying Nick Gonzales. But it's not a criticism of Swaggerty. Can see him being there. But I think Gonzales is gonna have a really big year, and he doesn't have far to go.
OK, folks. That's it for this week. Gotta run and work on other stuff. Thanks so much for doing this. Talk to you again next week!
