He was a top-30 guy. Reynolds was kind of the same way. Not super flashy, but just a solid ballplayer with a good head on his shoulders. I think that temperament tends to show up in situations like this.

Hey Jason; joining the chat late so not sure if this has been asked and answered, but why was Chang even brought on? What does the track record show you? Did they panic because of Chavis potential injury back in LA? His days are numbered, correct?

Yes, I would have to think his days are numbered. He hasn't done much. They wanted someone who could play first, and he was really good the second half of last year. But so far, that obviously hasn't translated. I think you have to give him some runway, but you can't just give indefinite playing time to guys who aren't producing.

You have mentioned in the past about Bednar more likely being extended then traded. Do you see a potential extension similar to what 73 got when he was here?

Yes, I do. As I wrote, the trade nonsense with Bednar doesn't make sense to me. He would sign an extension here. The Pirates need guys like Bednar, who are good and want to be here. I could easily see a similar extension happening.

Really encouraged from what I’ve seen from Brubaker and Keller. Thoughts?

Same, Austin. I've really liked both lately, for different reasons. I like Brubaker throwing his curveball more. And the Keller sinker has actually gotten pretty good. Their pitching, oddly enough, has been a strength lately. I think Mitch may have finally figured something out that is giving him some confidence.
