Big fan, Jason. Do you think it’s possible that we see a move for a bullpen piece before the trade deadline? I know that’s not typically how they operate but we saw a “big time” deadline trade for Chris Archer under NH when in a similar division race.
Jason Mackey

I would be surprised if that happened, honestly. I think much of their bullpen help is internal at this point. Maybe if a bigger need emerges, but again, would be a little surprised.

Hi Jason, Once Edny and Liover get their call-up outside of Termarr, wouldn't it make sense to draft Crews even if it's mid to high $9M range? There seems to be pretty good pitching depth on the prospect list now vs little remaining top tier position players. With Jones, Solometo and JP pushing and Barco and Burrows coming back at some point take the hitter?
Jason Mackey
1:52
Yes, very possibly Chris. I think that number could work. I think it also depends on what you could get Skenes for. Like if Crews wanted $9.5 million and Skenes would sign for $7 M ...would you do that? $ million? I might.

On the draft, you continue to point to Skenes and Crews which is understandable.  But I think Langford from Florida is comparable and MLB Pipeline and others have written that some teams are higher on him than Crews.  Plus, it seems he would sign for less than $9 mill.  Have you heard anything that leads you to believe the Pirates don't put him in the same class as the LSU duo?
Jason Mackey

I think there's Crews/Skenes and the other three (Langford, Jenkins, Clark). Not an indictment of those guys. And maybe they take Langford. But I do think there's a clear delineation between the groups.

Do you think there’s a chance Hill finishes the season with Pitt? With Priester/Jones in AAA and Bido pitching fine it seems unlikely.
Jason Mackey
1:53
I do, yes. I don't know if it's large. But if that happens, things could be worse. He has added a lot, and they need pitching. Would be tough to back-fill right now.

Hey Jason, I know there was rumors about potential extensions for Cruz and Keller.  Any truth to those rumors and what would potential deals look like in both cases?
Jason Mackey
1:54
I don't like making up potential deals because that's what it is. I would also prefer to do research and use comps, and that's tough to answer within like 1-2 minutes here. ... But, yes. The Pirates absolutely have talked extension with both. Keller has more traction than Cruz.

Would you rather have Skenes or Crews?
Jason Mackey
1:54
It depends on numbers and asks on signing bonuses. But probably Skenes. I just can't pass up the pitching.

With a month until The Trading Deadline Aug 1st , to follow up on my last question. Do you think they will trade Hayes by then if Triolo does real well. It would fetch a nice return I'll bet.
Jason Mackey
1:55
No, I don't. Not at all.

I'm assuming your job didn't let you get to any shows this tour.  I made it to three.  Ticket prices being what they are/were, it's all I could afford.  I'm guessing Nugs is your friend ?
Jason Mackey
1:55
Didn't get to anything. Sadly. Missed Dead & Company here because Cutch was within range of 2,000 hits, and I couldn't miss that.

Josh Palciaos has impressed me.  He was another in the "let's throw some stuff against the wall and see what sticks" crowd.  Well, he seems to be sticking.  A fourth outfielder at best it seems, with that < .700 OPS.   Do you see him sticking around?
Jason Mackey
1:56
Through today, yes. Through Hayes & Choi, probably not. And nothing against Josh. I think it's just tough with what else they have.

How good is Cheng as a defensive SS?
Jason Mackey
1:56
Have honestly not yet seen him play there live. I hear quite good, though.

Zastryzny, Perdomo, and Borucki are all out of options!

I knew you'd be here, willing to lend a helping hand.

Is Peguero odd man out in the middle infield?
Jason Mackey
1:57
I don't think anybody is "out" in the middle infield at this point.

Elly or O’Neil?  Who do you think has the better career?
Jason Mackey
1:57
I'm going with Oneil. (Come on. Do you really think I would say Elly here?)

Do you think Swaggerty’s time is done for this organization. I’m not saying that to be down on him I hope he comes out on top but it seems he’s had a lot of misfortune. Maybe a fresh start somewhere else?
Jason Mackey
1:58
No, I don't think so. I think he'll get this under control and get another chance. It's not like he has sucked without reason. Dude is having debilitating migraines, and his wife is going through some serious health stuff. What's the harm if he steps away for a little? We saw in spring what he could do. I just want him to get back to that, and I think he can.

What r ur thoughts on ramirez coming up for mlodzinski along with Holderman for Bolton?
Jason Mackey
1:59
I wouldn't get rid of Mlodzinski. I think Holderman will be back today, and I would expect Bolton to out first.

OK, folks. That does it for this week. Sorry I didn't get to everything. A lot of really good questions. But I need to get things together and head down to the park. Thanks as always for participating!
