I really hope not. If they're trying to win over fans, investing money in the club would be a much better option.

Who do you see the Pirates looking at as their starting catcher for 2020?
Jason Mackey
12:45
I think they're going to sign someone this offseason, probably someone else's No. 3. I don't think it will be a big name.
Raymond

Heck could just have Manny move from his centerfield grill to the clubhouse
Don't vote Moran

Plus, a 0.5 fWAR and 0.0 bWAR.

You don't like Colin Moran, we get it. And also, to my earlier point, no I was not providing a legit comparison to Manny Machado. Just trying to make the point that he shouldn't be banished to Single-A.

Who starts opening day for the Bucs?
Jason Mackey
12:47
At this point I would say probably Joe Musgrove, with an outside chance of Trevor Williams if he's able to have a strong finish. Steven Brault is an interesting case, but I don't necessarily see that happening.

Who could the pirates add this offseason in terms of catcher
Jason Mackey
12:49
I think you're blindly throwing darts. It would be via trade, IMO. The free agent guys are all up there. Would have to be who could be involved in a trade, and the answer to that just isn't simple.

Last season Elias Diaz had a breakout season.  He was good defensively, batted well and hit 10 home runs.  How do you explain his regression?  Is he still part of the Pirates' future?
Jason Mackey
12:50
I don't know if anyone can, to be honest, Elias and the Pirates included. He's been extremely subpar defensively, but he also hasn't hit, especially for any shred of power. Future plans? I have a tough time seeing it. I could see them keeping Stallings as a backup, but they need a legit starter back there, and I don't think they have that guy in the organization right now. Maybe the virus with Diaz, but that should be cleared up by now.

Wondering why it took until recently for Pirates to be more aggressive on the basepaths. The team has a decent amount of speed. Should stealing bases be more of a priority?
Jason Mackey
12:50
Yeah, they picked the series against J.T. Realmuto to start running. Ha. No, seriously, I think they should to. I like it. They have to create runs in some way, and it isn't going to be by hitting home runs.

moran has a wRC+ hovering around 100. it's up to 103 now thanks to his good couple games. NL third basemen are 106. So he's a below average bat for his position, on top of playing oafish defense and being utterly worthless on the base paths. he's one of the biggest holes on a team full of them.

You're entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine. With Hayes in the system and other options around the infield, Newman included, I'm fine with what's happening here. Moran makes peanuts. I'm sure as heck not ready to blame the Pirates problems this season on Colin Moran's wRC+, but apparently he clogged your toilet or let the air out of your tires or something.

Throwing a few names out there if Hurdle is fired..   Chad Mottola, Darren Bush, Marcus Thames,

Rays, A's and Yankees, all 45 or younger. We're throwing darts here, but I agree, those are interesting. They jibe with what I (and others) think the Pirates need.
OK, folks. That does it for this week. Thanks for participating and trying to get Colin Moran to switch careers. Have to head to the ballpark now. Until next time ...
