I think the first one will happen. I don't really see another option being possible, honestly.

Hi Jason
If we end up with#1 pick, will we go for Kumar or a cheaper knock off?
Jason Mackey
3:10
Hi Pete. Love New Castle. One of my favorite places on the planet. Seriously. ... I think they'll go for Kumar Rocker if they get the first overall pick.

Should they have left Keller go for the no-hitter?
Jason Mackey
3:11
Absolutely not. I would have been OK with one more, but he was on pace for a 126-pitch outing. Even if he got the no-hitter, the Pirates are miles away from the playoffs. Why on the world is that a risk worth taking? One more, fine. But not three at that pitch count.

Remember the good old days when baseball wasn't consumed with data, statistics, pitch counts, exit velocity, etc.?
Jason Mackey
3:12
I do. I miss it.

Please explain super 2 status and why it scares the Bucs
Jason Mackey
3:13
Simple version: By starting a guy's service time clock earlier, he basically gets an extra year of arbitration. That costs clubs for money. Super 2 was created to award the top 22% of players with two years of service time (I believe, I'm trying not to look it up) with getting to start the process early. Teams across baseball are aware of this and try to use the player while also not allowing him to become Super 2-eligible (and cost them more money).

On Kumar Rocker...would be great to have him for a few years I guess, but why get excited when he'll just be pitching for the Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers in 5 years?
Jason Mackey
3:13
That's the spirit!

If we get the #1 pick why pick Kumar..when no one can hit the ball...u can't have enough good hitting..right?
Jason Mackey
3:14
He's a generational talent. Plus, I would skew pitching over hitting all the time. Can never have enough good pitching.

The Marlins might be a team to emulate for the Bucs going forward....
Jason Mackey
3:14
Sorry, Derek. I don't think so.

Other than Hayes, any big surprises for you despite this disappointing "season?" Stallings?
Jason Mackey
3:15
Stallings, yeah. He's been outstanding. Would not be surprised if he won a Gold Glove. Mike Persak on our podcast had a good answer to this: Sam Howard. Talk about grabbing someone off the scrap heap and turning him into a semi-reliable reliever.

True or False ? Nutting likes Hunt's Ketchup and takes his Primanti sandwiches without fries ?
Jason Mackey
3:15
False.

Jason, the first report I heard on Cruz was that he was a passenger in the vehicle.  Has it been confirmed that he was the driver?  No matter what, it was a tragedy and my sympathies are with the families of the victims.
Jason Mackey
3:16
The police report I've seen says Cruz was driving the vehicle.

Too early for a World Series pick? Dream matchup?
Jason Mackey
3:17
Hmm ... never too early. I'm gonna go Rays/Padres. Not saying that's what it will be. More what I want it to be.
3:18
OK, folks. I'm sorry for the delays here. Special sorry to you, Zeke. I appreciate your patience. Look forward to doing this again next week. Goodbye, everybody.
