Is there any person or persons that  Bob Nutting would listen to consider selling the team, or at least be persuaded to listen to offers?  Think of it, he could get a billion dollars and no longer be despised in this town.  Pirates alumni, Rob Manfred, or anybody else? He's seems hell bent on torturing us.

He's convicted in his beliefs, yes. Q a little bit ago had me going back through that 2021 interview. Here's part of an answer on why he continues to own the team.

"Our family has been in a family business since 1890. The team has been around since 1887. I think of myself as a fourth generation. What that teaches you is to think very long-term and to think about stewardship. So, my goal would be to steward and steer and help the Pirates flourish to the greatest degree that they can for as long as possible."

Not defending any of it. Long past time for a change. Just trying to answer the question as completely as possible.

Thanks for the insight and chat Jason. Johnny will be ok. Bucco fans have no other outlet to vent as we cannot afford an airplane and banner.

This made me laugh. Some can afford an airplane and banner!

Fair enough. I'm happy to hear you hate the DH in the NL, because I hate it too. That being said, since Ohtani pitches and also hits as a DH in the same game, I think Paul Skenes should do the same. Apparently, he hit really well in college, and I'm sure he'd be an upgrade from the many sub-.200 hitters we pencil in on a nightly basis. What could it hurt? Of course the pirates won't do it. But I think they should. Your thoughts?

The Pirates gave him the opportunity. He turned it down. Here's my story on that from 2023: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/pirates/2023/08/17/pirates-paul-sk...

Best Pirate world champion manager? My vote is for Danny Murtaugh who should be in the hall of fame. Will he make the Bucs hall of fame?

The only one to win multiple WS. Who am I to argue with that? Believe he's already in the Pirates HOF. Should be in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Is there any shot that Konnor Griffin breaks Camp as the big league shortstop? Has there been any talk of maybe trying to get a long-term extension done for him or Paul Skenes this off-season?

There's at least a chance, yes. I don't know if it's likely because we're talking about the Pirates here; they've typically been pretty cautious about such things. I could see them at least wanting Griffin to start at Triple-A.

That being said, now that we're in the actual offseason, I don't know how they don't at least have cursory conversations on that. Makes too much sense. If I'm the Pirates, that's a way to spend money smartly, make a wise investment AND prove something to your fans.

Firstoff is right. We have no other outlet. Yet being a bucco fan is pain, perpetual torture that seems infinite. Thank you for doing this.

Haha. I love yinz. You're the best. Just every so often I need to remind that I can question, criticize and talk to these people to convey my feelings and fan sentiment. But I can't control how they act.

You are right: Murtaugh is in the Pirates Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the Irish American baseball Hall of Fame (2024)!

Nailed it.

PS. When nutting says "stewardship" I see red.

Don't blame you. If you've been doing something this long and you've won so little and so many people are upset, maybe it's just not working. Maybe let someone else have a turn.

OK, folks. That does it for this week. Gotta run. Thanks so much for the great questions. We'll be back next Thursday for another edition. Stay well!
