Not sure where you stand with golf compared to some of your colleagues like Gerry, but any predictions for the Masters?
Jason Mackey
12:44
I've actually just REALLY started to get into golf. Gerry has forgotten more about golf than I know, but I have really enjoyed learning and playing it more. It's a daily endeavor for me now. I don't know what happened, but I'm all in. At this point I'm going with Scottie Scheffler. Big gamble, I know.

Jason, thanks for the chats.  This year the OL should really take a giant step forward to be considered a successful draft (s).  What percentage do you give for that to happen?
Jason Mackey
12:45
I actually don't think the OL is as bad as it looked at the end of last year. I like Broderick Jones moving to LT. I think Russ held onto the ball too long. Having Fautanu back will help. Not saying the Steelers will be top-5 in the NFL or anything. But they shouldn't be dreadful.

Honest question here: how much longer until Holderman potentially joins Bednar in Indy? He seems really lost too.
Jason Mackey
12:46
Yeah, I'd give it more time. But some of his misses have not been good. I think Colin bouncing back the way he did last year helped. He also had a much better spring.

Yea, I meant the Pirates-thought it was obvious haha.

I know.

O Cruz is the 5th worst fielder in all of baseball. Not sure how the one person thinks he looks good, other than in Miami. He's a DH. Someone take his glove and hide it forever!!!

Then you're putting your fastest player and the strongest arm on the bench. I'm not saying he's been good in CF -- he hasn't been -- but you could also just let him grow and help him improve. That's what I would do.

With the extensions happening around the league, do you get a sense anyone on the Pirates is close to one. Also, have there been attempts made to ones? Cruz was rumored there for a bit, but it's been quiet on that front.
Jason Mackey
12:47
Cruz and the Pirates were never close, as far as I understand it. And, no, I don't think they're going to extend anyone prior to opening day. Unfortunately. Have not heard many whispers there.

Jason,  what is the shortest rest period for a starting MLB pitcher that you are aware of in the last 5 years other than in the playoffs?   If Skenes pitches every 3 days, the Pirates have a shot!
Jason Mackey
12:48
Skenes isn't pitching every 3 days. Come on.
James A from 'Negie

With several young players getting new contracts in MLB, might the Bucs start drafting one for Skenes?  If it's 8 years and $300 million, would he take it?  Please don't send me to Ziese's article-he isn't very good.

I don't know why he would, James. I've been saying this since the discussion started. There are competing agendas here. It's a huge amount of risk for the Pirates just because of the nature of pitching. For Paul, if he stays healthy, he might sign for half a billion dollars. I can see why he'd want to ride it out. I also think you need to factor in playing for a competitive team. Guarantee you Paul wants to win. Is he convinced that will happen here? Would imagine that answer, at least right now (with the hope that it changes) is no.

Great job today by the way.  A lot of great replies from you and answering the plethora of questions that I'm sure you get bombarded with haha. Cheers!

Thank you very much!
Speaking of which, I need to get going. Have a podcast to record and then a radio hit at 2:35. Thanks so much for doing this. Enjoy the home opener. Mailbag next week!
