I like Phish. A lot, honestly. But they still don't make me feel the way the Dead does. ... I like Billy Strings, if you wanna call that jam band. Are we calling the Allman Brothers a jam band? I like some, but after Dead/Phish, I'm generally splintering off to like Childers/Sturgill/Isbell/Truckers, as well as classic rock/classic country/alternative or grunge/punk.

I really want suwinski to succeed but he’s not an MLB everyday player. I don’t know why he isn’t in the minors working on his hitting. Career 200 and super high strikeout rate is exhausting.

Had a .793. OPS in 144 games last year and hit 45 HR in his first two seasons. Not sure how you conclude that he's not an every day player. He's performing poorly right now. That's fair. Maybe he should be in the minors. But saying he can't play every day ... that's a strong assertion with little evidence to back it up.

Hey Jason, who do you think will be playing 2nd base in September?
Jason Mackey
1:05
For the Pirates or in general? I'll still go Triolo.

Jason, it pains me to say it, but looks like you may have had a point when you advised an overly optimistic chatter to chill out on the call-up talk. But it's still early, man....
Jason Mackey

Maybe it's me, but I'm missing the point you're trying to make here.

I have been saying this for two years Henry Davis is a first pick bust, terrible
Jason Mackey

He's played just over half an MLB season. Miiiiight be a little still. Just saying.

Youre a big music guy, what are your thoughts on Radiohead? any fans of them in the clubhouses you cover?
Jason Mackey
1:06
I've never met a Radiohead fan. I can't say I'm a huge one, honestly. A little too spacey/sonic-y for me. I get that people might skewer me for that, but I've never been able to get into it.

Jason have you had players join the chat in the past and does any of them stand out if they did?
Jason Mackey
1:07
No, players are not joining this chat. Or, if they are, I've never known about it.

Jason, can you believe it has been over 40 years since the Vermont boys have been cranking out the exquisite jams?  Not to be a downer, but you really are getting up there in years, my friend.
Jason Mackey
1:07
I know. As my kids tell me, I'm old.

Thanks Jason. I am just looking at the defensive play on the field of the Pirates as compared to Washington or other good coached teams. These teams make plays, small payroll, large payroll, young players, old  players they all are held accountable, reach their potential. The Bucs, I don’t see it.
Jason Mackey

You're not wrong. They haven't been good enough defensively. Completely fair take by you.

Jason, since the money did not go to my head, what the hell is going on?  I'll take anything you got. Thanks, man.
Jason Mackey

Yeah, hasn't been your best. I still don't like when you deviate from the sinker. I get the other stuff, but that has been your bread and cutter. I don't know six OK pitches. I want three good ones.

Why on earth haven’t the pirates recalled Gonzalez, Peguero, Bae, maybe even Lamb. Give someone who is seeing the ball much better opportunities to win you games now. We saw last year after a great august-September how these games could come back to bite you in September.

I don't have a great explanation for you, I'm sorry. Stubbornness? Believing in what they have? Not wanting to subject them to this? I don't get it either.

the A’s are terribly run, we have a good farm system. We should trade solomento for Mason miller
Jason Mackey
1:09
Yeah, I'm sure they'd do that.

12 wins for the Steelers?
Jason Mackey
1:09
Yep.

OK, folks. That does it. Have a couple things to bang out before heading to the park. Baseball tonight! Thanks for doing this. Talk to ya next week!
