Cherington has struck out on about every off season addition

He's definitely down in the count -- and granted, it's May 17. But Chapman was an overpay, for sure. They could have spent that money differently. Perez, not sure what we have there at this point. Tellez and Grandal are likely losses. Olivares was a win. He should be playing more. They should have brought back Cutch. Taylor? I'd say incomplete there, too.

Will it ever be possible for Baseball to implement a similar system to world football of loaning and transfering players? Transfer will work much the same, give up money and /or prospects for the rights to a player. Loans could be interesting where the team gives up a prospect or two and gets the player for the remainder of the year or for a designated amount of time. Player gets experience and still holds the rights if they fall out of contention and a team that is still in competition gets a boost from the player with minimal compensation. This could also work if guys are blocked at the major league level but the player is ready. Thoughts?

I really hope not. I don't like that idea, personally. I'm fine with the way things work now.

Are you prepared for another 4 brilliant innings of no decision pitching?
Jason Mackey

I think he'll be in there longer.

How often has a major league team posted a lineup in May that honors my line with four consecutive hitters batting under .200 (cause that's our 6-9 situation today)
Jason Mackey

I don't know where I could find stats on that.

Jason, Not Fade Away, man! Come on!
Jason Mackey

Ahhh, man. I was considering that a Buddy Holly tune, but you're right. I'm embarrassed and hanging my head in shame.

Any update on Palacios? He was on IL at Indy then rehabbing at Bradenton but now not showing up either place
Jason Mackey

Believe he's back at Indy. I know his rehab assignment ended.

If Skenes gives up 3 ER in four innings again today will be join Roansy on the DFA list? Quinn in AAA?
Jason Mackey

I don't think they're going to DFA Paul Skenes.

Termarr is young for his level, is walking at a 20+% clip and has his strikeouts under 25% after starting the year at nearly 35%. His wRC+ is also over 100 even though he is barely hitting his weight. All of that is pretty dang impressive and I think the kid will be fine, this is just another adjustment on the road to the bigs!
Jason Mackey

I agree with you. As I've said, no concern from this corner about Termarr.

Thanks for doing these chats Jason, we miss you on the Pirates beat!

Ha! I miss it, to a degree. Miss the travel and pace. Miss baseball people and the culture of the sport. It's an adjustment right now for all of us. But thank you.
OK, folks. That does it for this week. Thanks so much for bearing with me. I know it was a little clunky with timing. Looking forward to an excellent ballgame this afternoon!
