Seven straight years without a postseason win ties a franchise record for failure for a head coach.  I really don't care about .500 or above seasons, and Mr. Rooney at least says the organization is judged by postseason.  More teams make the playoffs than ever, so it should be easier to get in and therefore you have a better chance to win one if you make the Tournament, as Tomlin loves to call it.  Doesn't this make the failure seem even worse than if it happened in years of less playoff teams?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but you seem to be unhappy with Mike Tomlin. I certainly get that. I don't know about ranking failures. They've come up short, no doubt. Seven years or whatever it is is way too long. But is it all Tomlin's fault? I have a tough time saying that. The Rooneys also don't really fire coaches, so not sure anyone should be surprised when they keep a guy.

Hello Jason. How can Ben Cherington stand pat with this lineup when a bat at 1b or OF could push them towards a wildcard spot? Also could the WR room be the reason the Steelers miss the playoffs more so than the tough schedule?

Who says he's standing pat? It's June 7. There's time. I'd hope he doesn't stand pat if that's what it takes. But not many teams are selling right now, at least at reasonable prices. Luis Robert Jr. seems to be a popular choice. Does anyone know the ask? My guess is that it would be astronomical at this point.

I’m just getting into baseball, but I think the play with Olivares and Betts should have been called a force out.

It was called an out on the field and later changed. I don't see how you can punish someone for their reactions to something that was not called.

If the Pirates are in a playoff run, will they limit or shutdown Jones and Skenes, or any starter for that mattter, because of innings through the summer?
Jason Mackey

Limit, maybe. But shutdown, I don't think so. At least that has been the goal. I think they need to space out and occasionally shorten some starts. But I don't think they will just shut those guys down.

Sorry if I come I. late on this. MT couldn't win with the Kilker B's, a great offense line and pretty good defense coached by arguably the best defensive coach ever. What makes anyone think he will win with this team?

i like his chances, actually. I think they have a better OC than they've had in some time. Should be able to run and pass effectively. Not saying they're going to be world beaters, but they should be a playoff team with this group.

Any concerns about Termarr Johnson?
Jason Mackey
12:51
Absolutely not. We're talking about less a half-season for a 19-year-old. He'll be fine.

Does Triolo have the defensive chops to be an everyday SS if Cruz moves off of short?
Jason Mackey

Defensively, I think he could handle the position. But I do worry about his offense. Would want to see more. There are some interesting pieces here. And I'm not sure it does us any good to worry about them now. Does Cruz stick? Does Nick keep hitting? What happens with Peguero? I don't know. But I'm not changing anything with Oneil until after the season, if then.
OK, folks. That does it for this week. Thanks so much for doing this. Lot of great questions, especially enjoyed the Steelers ones. Will talk to ya again next week!
