Shelton needs to go at least back to a AA team to manage for a year or two.  When you send out Tellez twice in a row to pitch, that’s a minor league move.  Agree?

Ummm, I guess. It's a minor league move to be down that much in the first place, which isn't 100% on Shelton. Not absolving him, but I feel like that's kind of oversimplifying the Pirates problems.

He's been excellent at the plate, as expected. But his defense, aside from an occasional strong throw, has left something to be desired. Might investigate how he looks at 1B.

I wonder if the pirates ever would consider tailoring a hitting philosophy to each individual batter. Seems kind of primitive to have a philosophy and apply it to everyone. Doesn't that?

I don't know what you're saying I expressed reservations on, but I would absolutely try Bart at 1B. My only non-negotiable is that he's in the lineup every day.

Hey, friend. With all the enthusiasm about free agency, the draft, the “Khan Artist”, etc., it’s still amazing to me that MOST people still have the Steelers either where they were last year, or maybe worse. Being a 3-point dog in Atlanta stings a little as well. Is this surprising to you at all?

Yeah, it is. I thought they would get more respect nationally. Wrote about this yesterday, actually. They're predicted to get about 9 wins. I think they can fare better, though I can't logically have them in the AFC championship or something like that.
