He's mostly the same, but I think he's been spiking a few too many curveballs, such that no one will swing at them
He's not exactly a command-first sort
11:02
Batters know what he's trying to do now, better than ever. He's going to need that cutter of his

Read the article on Franco on the Athletic. Fantastic. He's not he same player.
Jeff Sullivan
11:05
I would like for that to be true. It's just going to take a lot to convince me
I do like that he's chopped his pop-up rate in half, but that's such a small sample I don't know yet if it means anything

What are teams doing to Christian Villanueva for this prolonged slump? I’ve notice fastballs inside a lot lately anything else?
Jeff Sullivan
11:07
He's a dead pull hitter who swings too much. Teams are now working him high and away, and he hasn't caught up
11:08
Might just be the new Taylor Motter

It seems like every year or two I'll see an article about a team getting caught batting out of order, as the Mets did recently. Is there anywhere that these are kept track of,like the way that there are sites that list all known no-hitters?
Jeff Sullivan
11:08
Why yes!

Do you see anything that makes you think Darvish can't be his old self, or at least a solid NL pitcher?
Jeff Sullivan
11:09
His slider hasn't been any good for him yet, but I believe he's going to straighten it out. His track record is too good and I don't think he's injured

Seattle might have the best LHP in baseball right now, but they're struggling with their LHH left fielder. What might they do about that?
Jeff Sullivan
11:10
More Heredia. After that, panic
Would be interesting to see how desperate they get -- in theory they could promote Vogelbach and occasionally play Cruz in the outfield again

Is the humidor really killing Paul Goldschmidt? Just a slump? or a decline in skills?
Jeff Sullivan
11:11
It's not the humidor. He's swinging and missing too much
His approach is fine -- just a few too many whiffs
Haven't taken a close enough look to see why

Hi Jeff.  I would appreciate your opinion of baseball in Portland.  Do you believe the population will support it?  Thanks.
Jeff Sullivan
11:12
The population would support it. But there are a handful of other cities in North America that would probably be even more supportive
All right, I need to get rolling
11:13
So thank you everybody for hanging out, and I'm sorry for what I didn't or couldn't address. We'll do it again next week at the same time, and until then, be well and have great days
