I know that sounds stupid and boring, but it's my hypothesis

Please discuss Byron Buxton further.
Jeff Sullivan
10:49
The best thing about the recent hot stretch: he's not striking out so often. Although his contact rate is still low, so it's not like that has been conquered

Re Mt. St. Helens - dude, look into AT skis if you're wallowing in soft spring snow. After postholing down Rainier, I swore I would never walk down a volcano again.
Jeff Sullivan
10:50
Nothing has made me want to learn to ski more than watching people ski past my own sad trudging ass
The risk is...substantial, but oh god the reward

What's stopping every hitter from making the same adjustment as me and turning into a 20+ HR guy?
Jeff Sullivan
10:51
Not every hitter can up and change the way he's hit since he was in high school
Some guys have confessed that they've tried to hit more fly balls and it's messed them up

Pirates should start selling, right?
Jeff Sullivan
10:51
Nobody sells in the middle of May

To what degree do you believe in Kahnle's newfound control? His F-Str% is up close to league average right now.
Jeff Sullivan
10:52
His strike rate is trending back closer to normal, but I still do think he's significantly improved
Tyler
10:52
With Berrios coming back up for Saturday, do you think he can turn it around?
Jeff Sullivan
10:53
I'm not very worried about what happened in 2016. It didn't make much sense, given his talent

10:53
If someone invented a pill that increased the rate calluses developed (so pitchers would get fewer blisters) would it be considered a PED and be banned?
Jeff Sullivan
10:53
No, it wouldn't make enough of a wide-spread impact for people to be turned off by it
Laroo
10:53
Would love your take on Haniger when he comes back? Budding star in the making? Or just your average Joe?
Jeff Sullivan
10:54
In between. He's better than average but I don't think he has it in him to be an actual star player
Someone like Kyle Seager actually works. Seager's been great! But I don't think people think of him as a star third baseman

Erik Karlsson took over that series with a broken foot!!!!

Let's say the Mets offer Nimmo for Maurer...do Pads entertain it? Renfroe and Jank have been bad...
Jeff Sullivan
10:55
Revisit in a month or two, but for now, I don't think that's what the Padres would be looking for

Thoughts on A's depth chart as they try to find room for guys like barreto, nunez, chapman, olson. is plouffe gone next year? lowrie? healy? where does barreto play?
Jeff Sullivan
10:56
Plouffe will definitely disappear. And Lowrie will get squeezed out. Either Semien or Barreto will presumably shift, and slowly but surely, the A's will once again resemble a team with legitimate promise
5 Run Homer
10:57
You mentioned Pillar's power spike. Do you think it's sustainable? If it is, and his defence doesn't bounce back all the way, does his value really change at all?
Jeff Sullivan
10:57
I looked into Pillar on my own a week ago or something and I don't really see a lot of reason to believe that he's a good hitter now

Mike Trout has had the highest wRC+ the past few years with Votto right behind him. Miggy had the highest xwOBA last year and was known as the best hitter in baseball before that. Harper is having a monster start again. Freeman leads in xOBA this year in a very small sample while Zimmerman has the highest wRC+. Who is the best hitter in baseball?
Jeff Sullivan
10:58
Mike Trout

With regards to Jon Gray, how significant do foot injuries impact pitchers upon their return?
Jeff Sullivan
10:58
Going to be a question of discomfort and muscle memory. If Gray hasn't had his muscle memory screwed up, and if his foot feels all right, then he should be good to go. If something got knocked awry, or if he's feeling pain still in his delivery, then that's a bigger issue
10:59
It's his plant foot, so we'll see how he's commanding the ball when he's back
Kristen

Of the teams that were expected to be contenders this season but instead have disappointed, e. g., TEX, NYM, TOR, PIT, SF, KC, which is/are the best equipped/most likely to bounce back?
Jeff Sullivan
11:00
I think the Rangers have it in them to make a WC run if/when Beltre and Ross show up
And I haven't given up on the Mets, although the situation has clearly gotten much harder for them
Danny Salazar's Elbow
11:01
Jeff, do you have any life codes you stick by no matter what? Or is life to complex to afford any real absolutes to live by?
Jeff Sullivan
11:01
Be nice and go outside
You can't be nice all the time, and you can never go outside as often as you'd like to, but live your life to maximize them both and you'll be a happy and centered human being
