Hello friends
Welcome to baseball chat
Bork

Hello, friend!
Jeff Sullivan

Hello friend
Section 118
9:05
Why have I not heard any chatter at all re: Oakland shipping people off?
Jeff Sullivan
9:06
Hill has been hurt, Gray has been mediocre, Reddick is part of a saturated outfield market, and Valencia is basically on the level of Steve Pearce
oh, and Madson has been struggling
people will move over the coming days, almost certainly, but I get it
Trevor
9:07
Predict the biggest move at the deadline
Jeff Sullivan
9:07
go big or go home, right? let's put Chris Sale on the Rangers
Jeb
9:08
Reports are Melancon could be on the move. What could he net in a return for the Pirates?
Jeff Sullivan
9:08
one prospect from the middle of the top 100, probably, and one or two interesting filler pieces
JoshP
9:09
Jeff, how do Terry Collins and Kevin Long still have jobs? Do you think they keep said jobs through the end of the season?
Jeff Sullivan
9:09
Probably has a lot to do with having gone to the World Series
This Mets season feels so freaking similar to last Mets season

I'd like to present Myles Straw, owner of the weirdest spray chart I've ever seen for a RH hitter:

http://www.mlbfarm.com/player.php?player_id=664702&position=RF&split=&year=2016&txtStartDate=&txtEndDate=#spray
Jeff Sullivan

What in the actual hell
I gotta think that's in large part some kind of data error. I desperately hope it is not
Bork
9:11
If Josh Naylor's name seems familiar and you don't know why, he was the Marlins prospect who 'accidentally' put another Marlins prospect on the DL with a knife 'prank'
Jeff Sullivan
9:11
Probably learned it from Loria
Phantom of the Chakras
9:12
Hi Jeff. Wondering what I should be rooting for the O's to do at the deadline, other than start scoring runs again. It's always nice having something to long for beyond fame and fortune.
Jeff Sullivan
9:12
Their situation is a weird one. Similar in a way to the Marlins, who probably just overpaid for Cashner, and the O's shouldn't overpay for a similar arm. I wonder if there's a way for them to be the team that lands Rich Hill? His stock is down so maybe that makes him more acquirable. He'd feel like the right kind of gamble
9:13
Of course, the A's would still need more in return than they'd get from a QO draft pick, but the Orioles could meet that
PL
9:13
Please light a fire under this stove Jeff
Jeff Sullivan
9:13
It's too hot out for a stove
Jeb
9:13
Do you think the Pirates should trade McCutchen? What type of package could he bring back?
Jeff Sullivan
9:14
He's not a midseason trade candidate. Not to me. Let him try to rebound down the stretch, and reconsider in December
Nate
9:15
With the Giants acquiring Nunez, does this make Kelby Tomlinson expendable?
Jeff Sullivan
9:15
Kelby Tomlinson has always been expendable
j6takish
9:15
Jeff, is trading for Eduardo Nunez is seriously the most "Giants" move possible? Excuse me, World Series MVP Eduardo Nunez. Also I have heard you, Eno and dave make allusions to Cistulli having a stalker...or at least somebody who updates his Wikipedia page for him, can you explain?
Jeff Sullivan
9:17
It's hard to define but there definitely is a tier of players who seem Giants-appropriate. Guys like Nunez, Peter Bourjos, Jon Jay or something. I don't know how well this matches reality. In the Giants' defense, their position-player group is excellent when healthy so they don't need a ton
And I don't know anything more about the stalker except that I believe the stalker is French?
Carson didn't make that Wiki page himself
probably
Nate
9:18
Why would the Royals want to package Kennedy with Wade Davis? They could get the world for Davis, but Kennedy almost negates the value.
Jeff Sullivan
9:19
One way or another, the Royals are in possession of Kennedy's negative value. So the either keep that and exchange Davis, or they package them both, but the result would be similar. It's just a difference between already having negative value and accepting a form of negative value, and those would be equivalent
9:20
That's not a great way of putting that but hopefully the point gets across. Remember that the Braves reduced their own take for Kimbrel by including Upton
Travis
9:20
Are the Braves seriously gonna hold on to Teheran?
Jeff Sullivan
9:20
Looks that way. Bizarre

Happy Friday Jeff! Can you talk about how Austin Hedges' projections have changed from end of last year to this year? Are we talking a 50 bat and/or 50 power potential?
