Wouldn't be shocked to see Ervin Santana on the move

Seems like Jesus Luzardo will pitch for the A’s since their rotation is thin right now. Have you heard anything about this?
Jeff Sullivan
9:33
Haven't heard anything, aside from Luzardo having been promoted to Triple-A. I think part of the reason they got Fiers was to reduce the pressure here. Ideally, I think the A's would let Luzardo's season play out where it is, but there's little question to me that they'd want him to be available in the playoffs should they indeed advance
9:35
Luzardo isn't on the 40-man roster, and in theory he'd have to be added by August 31 to be postseason-eligible
But! "Clubs can petition the Commissioner's Office to add any player that was not on the 40-man roster as of Aug. 31 -- provided the player was in the organization on Aug. 31 and is replacing a player who has spent at least 60 days on the 60-day disabled list. The Royals were able to use this tactic to add Brandon Finnegan to their roster during the 2014 postseason, despite the fact that Finnegan was not on the 40-man roster as of Aug. 31."

Felix :(

Maybe he'll have a bullpen rejuvenation!
Maybe!
If you don't have hope, you don't have anything

Chris Archer's two starts since the trade: 9.1 IP, 12 H, 2 HR, 5 BB, 9 K, 7 runs (5 ER)
Tyler Glasnow's two starts (not stretched out yet) since the trade: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 2 HR, 1 BB, 14 K, 2 R (2 ER)
Not the most meaningful sample in the world, but one of these lines is more promising than the other.

I think that, today, 30 out of 30 front offices would say Chris Archer is still better than Tyler Glasnow, but at the same time I think there's a real good chance that a little down the road, we look back on this and say the Rays knew exactly what they were doing when they decided to make Archer available
9:38
Might not be a coincidence that the Rays were more willing to trade Archer than ever. Statistically, his slider has gone backwards, and without the slider, what is he?

Rumor has it the CIA has decided to stop waterboarding terror suspects in favor of forcing them to watch the Rockies bullpen.
Jeff Sullivan
9:39
Only works if every terror suspect is a Rockies fan
Is every terror suspect a Rockies fan?
If so, we gotta do something about all these Rockies fans
Maybe this is what makes them so radicalized in the first place

Jansen irregular heartbeat, huge blow for the dodgers. How do you think they will handle it? internally or via trade if not available for the postseason?
Jeff Sullivan
9:41
I think the expectation is that this is very treatable and he'd be okay by October. The Dodgers will probably stay internal; if there's one thing they have, it's an accumulation of quality arms

Thoughts on Tyler White? Can he hit enough to be a 1B/DH?
Jeff Sullivan
9:42
Yes
9:43
He actually projects for about the same wOBA as Gurriel
Ditto Gattis
9:44
This year in Triple-A, White had twice as many walks as swinging strikeouts
Would a team rather have Tyler White or Eric Hosmer? It's closer than you'd think!

If Felix was a free agent after this and not next season what kind of a contract do you think he would get?
Jeff Sullivan
9:46
After 2015, Tim Lincecum signed for a year and $2.5 million with the Angels
9:47
He was coming off surgery, while Felix would be coming off a lousy season. But something in that ballpark

Julio Teheran will cost $11MM next year... Is he an August/offseason trade candidate with all the young Braves arms starting to graduate?
Jeff Sullivan
9:48
Don't figure there would be a vibrant market
Been a below-average pitcher for a year and a half

Given that the season is almost over, who under 25 is worth getting excited about for their long term future?
Jeff Sullivan
9:49
Juan Soto. Juan Soto! Juan Soto!!
We haven't written nearly enough yet about Jake Bauers
9:50
Ronald Acuna is quietly still running a 119 wRC+
And there are young pitchers too
9:51
So many options. So many exciting young baseball players. Never a shortage

Does Dansby Swanson finish next season as Atlanta's SS? Camargo at short with Riley (or FA signing) at 3B would provide more offense.
Jeff Sullivan
9:51
I think Swanson will get another chance to open next season, but he has to hit. No other way to put it
9:52
His *highest* wRC+ for a month this year is 104
