On the Gallo/Chris Carter point: Do we have a sense for how valuable a player with Carter's offensive profile is worth if he also plays average defense at 3B?

Not really the same hitter profile but if Gallo puts up Carter-like production, then you'd be talking more or less about the Todd Frazier career. He's averaged a bit better than 3 WAR per 600 plate appearances

Maybe I haven't seen the full context? I didn't take it as a complaint. I just took it as a comparison. And it's true -- the Astros aren't in the same position to buy from the farm, because they aren't leading their division by several games
