Monday greetings, chatters, and thanks for joining. Apologies if you experienced a hiccup in terms of pre-loading the queue, we're all set now. But that means plenty of room for more questions. Let's go!

Should I sell high on ReyLo?  or keep riding this wave?
Brent Hershey
12:03
I'd ride the wave, and just adjust if it gets rocky/they address the innings limit, etc. Team context is good, spot seems secure for now, he's a vet as opposed to a rookie, etc. I think ATL will see where it leads, and you probably should, too.

12:05
Will Schwarber hit 37 HRs this year?
Brent Hershey
12:05
I'll take the under at this point. We have him projected right now for 34 total; it's not crazy that he could get hot and get to 37 (he's done it before), but more likely, especially given current injury, that he falls just short.

12:07
Hector Neris owner looking to hedge with a free agent bid today. Porter Hodge seems to be gaining trust and getting more leverage opportunities. Does he have a chance to close, especially if Cubs become sellers? Tyson Miller already owned in our league.
Brent Hershey
12:07
With Miller owned, I'd probably prefer Brewer to Hodge (since they inserted him into high-leverage from the get-go), but it's a tough bullpen to mine for Svs. The clearest thing is that Neris HAS to be on borrowed time, right? But, who do they turn to next is not an easy question. Handing it over to a non-pedigreed rookie like this (Hodge) does not happen that often.

12:09
In OBP NL only league, would you rather have Schwarber or Teoscar ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:09
Think Schwarber outperforms him; the bb% and OBP gap is pretty wide, even if the HR/production is similar.
Beano
12:13
Thanks for the chats, Brent! NL5x5 10 team. I'm being crushed with bad hitting - N Jones, Suwinski -injuries to M Harris....sigh.
I think I have to hold Jones but not Suwinski? (the only current rosterable FAs are F Wall, J Bauers, H Ramirez - any value here at all? Or shall I just hold my nose until some ALers come over and I can FAAB them?

And, if I may, pitching - the ROS  outlook for J Junis, E Cabrera, C Scott?
Brent Hershey
12:13
In NL-only, I'd probably prefer Suwinski to Bauers, who is the most attractive of those three FA lists. More likely that PIT gives JS rope and something 'clicks', rather than Bauers in what is more likely to be a playoff contender. Holding and hoping for AL crossovers is probably your best bet now.

Of the SP trio, like Scott the best by far .. probably go Junis then Cabrera, but wouldn't fight hard to flip those two.

12:17
What are your expectations for Wood and Noelvi?
Brent Hershey
12:17
Both are pretty high ... Noelvi b/c he's succeeded at MLB level already, even in a short sample. Speed is real, too -- it's an all-around play.
For Wood, the outlier physical gifts and year-over-year improvement especially in the past 12 months give me some hope that he bucks the 2024 trend of overhyped hitters who fail. Riskier than NM for 2024 ... but could also see where he hits and disrupts from the get-go. Both should have pretty long leashes if they happen to struggle out of the gate.

12:20
When would you stash DeGrom?
Brent Hershey
12:20
Not really enough context to fully answer — league size, stashing tendency, IL spot configuration all important data points. Without those, latest note says he's a month away, but that also means he's a setback away from getting pushed to mid-August? If you can live with that possibility, then I could see it.
GoBraves
12:24
Alright, Brent ... let's talk about him. Jarred Kelenic ... you in or out? And if you're in, how in are you?

Hope all is well on your end!
Brent Hershey
12:24
I'm tentatively in. I've been a big supporter (and been burned by him) for a while —including thinking the fresh start in ATL would help. It didn't of course, until he got moved to leadoff, which doesn't happen if Acuña doesn't go down.

I'm riding this out for now; how these next three months play out will dictate what my long-term thoughts on him will be. If he pumpkins out AGAIN between now and October, that will make it difficult to jump back in whole heartedly for 2025.
Dynasty Trade
12:28
Thanks for your time and expertise, as always. I struggle with dynasty values when looking at pitchers vs. hitters for trades. Is there an area on the site that will help me with dynasty ranks? I'm in a mixed roto dynasty league, and was offered Jackson Chourio for Grayson Rodriguez. Thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:28
Our HQ100 list is the best spot to start from, as those ranks are long-term focused, but of course they were compiled in December and things change with three months of games under our belts. (There's a Top 50 Update to come in a few weeks.)

As for your specific offer, I usually lean hitter over pitcher -- but in this case, what we've seen so far from Grayson at the MLB level at his age, AND the fact that he's on a great team that should have multi-year playoff aspirations, feel like I'd keep Rodriguez.

Hi Brent, NL only traditional 5x5….least risky pitching alternatives….junis, wesneski, bellozo, birdsong,Mercado, miller (sf),palante, spiers,Tyler      Have a great 4th . Thanks for your help
Brent Hershey
12:30
Wesneski <gap> Birdsong, Mercado, Junis <another gap> the rest. Could make a 'less risky' case for Junis over the two rooks in that second tier. IE, most are pretty risky.

are we viewing Grayson Rodriguez as an ace caliber starter ROS in 12 team rotos?
Brent Hershey
12:31
Related to a question above, yes (reading 'ace-caliber' = autostart). Even in 12s, I think you do that.

12:32
Kebryan Hayes for Jake Burger in a 12 tm mixed h2h who wins?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Preseason, I woulda said Hayes, but something just doesn't seem right there. Even with the Ks, Burger's swing has started to look better and his HR streaks could carry you at points in the 2H.

12:35
25 game hitting streak over, is Bryan Reynolds worth more in trade value than his ROS value?
Brent Hershey
12:35
Totally league-dependent—what are the offers, how do others value players like him, what is the waiver wire like if you're replacing him, what are your chances of success in this league this year etc. Those are the most important questions.

Void of that info, I'm holding onto him.
Brent Hershey
12:38
A quick reminder, as getting more Qs like this in the queue ... a couple simple details like league format/size; keeper vs redraft, options on the waiver wire are super important in helping me provide a actionable answer. Help me out with context; I'll help you out with a (hopefully) informed answer. Thanks!

Good afternoon Brent In an NL 12 Team Dynasty league couple quick questions: Pitching: Would you rather have Matt Waldron (salary $1) or Edward Cabrera (salary $3) rest of season? Career? Hitting I'm activating James Wood today-would you waive Ramon Leareano or Forrest Wall?
Brent Hershey
12:40
1) Waldron for this year; Cabrera for long-term. If you have to choose between one of these, I'd probably favor the long-term potential in a dynasty, even though I have Qs on Cabrera's ability to limit free passes.
2) I'd waive Laureano for Wood. Wall at least has that SB potential and is younger.

12 team H2H points league. At 1b, who do you like for ROS - Carlos Santana, Mountcastle or Andrew Vaugh. Thanks in advance Brent, you guys continue to rock.
Brent Hershey
12:40
Appreciate the props! Mountcastle, Vaughn, Santana would be my order.
Porcho Villa

Hi Brent and thanks as always for taking this time to give valued advice. Ray, Springs, and Senga, three possible difference-making starters, are all slated to return to MLB within the next 30 days. If you could only stash 2 of 3, which would you choose? (12-team 5x5 QS league). Ray and Springs have both looked great in rehab assignments and are closer, but Springs might be limited for all or most of the season given the Rays' situation and typical SP management.
Brent Hershey
12:41
Ray for sure, then probably Senga over Springs. Sounds to me like Senga is closer than Springs, which is a big part of it.
Greg
12:43
Any chance A. J. Puk or Hodge from Chicago gets saves after the trade deadline? Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:43
I would have both in the long-shot category for post-deadline saves. Each COULD get a chance ... but have to have a good streak to make good on the opportunity. Don't think the odds are in their favor on that front.
Wade
12:47
What to make of McGill when Devin Williams returns?
Brent Hershey
12:47
I think he probably gets bumped into setup duty, and many of my teams will suffer from it. Attempt to plan for it (figure out some sort of reinforcements); and I think it's obvious that if DW has a setback, Mcgill will be the guy no question. But given the shape of the season, I doubt neither will be traded in real life.
Porcho Villa
12:49
Any signs of hope for Nolan Jones? 0 for 6 with 5Ks yesterday and rough CT% since returning from injury. Is he still a hold (12-team 5x5 OBP) or would you consider moving on for someone like Wood or Noelvi Marte?
Brent Hershey
12:49
In a 12, yeah I'd want Marte (1st) or Wood (2nd choice) instead of Jones. Other than those 2, though, you might just need to hang onto Jones in a 12. Definitely have to hang on in a 15, I think. Need to give him more leash since the injury to get it turned around. Given COL at Coors all week, I'd not rush to cut Jones right now for sure.
