Hey there Monday chatters! Great to be back after a week off (looks like Ray took very good care of you). Even better to be at the All Star Break, and am lucky enough to be taking in the festivities this weekend in Arlington first-hand. But enough on me, we've got a full queue, so let's go!

Brent, long time, no chat! Hope things are good on your end. I have a few quick-hitters for you.

1) Xavier Edwards. I can envision him leading off for the Marlins once Jazz is traded. If xBA is "eh," but he has the profile (Speed, switch-hitter) to outperform it. Does his hit tool and wheels pique your interest?

2) Pete Fairbanks. Would you target him in a trade if you needed Saves? My concern is that he's dealt into a setup role elsewhere.

3) In a dynasty league with BA/OBP/SLG and R/RBI/SB as two of the categories, how do you rank the following players: Michael Busch, Brendan Donovan, Luis Arraez?

Things are good; thanks!

1) Yes, am interested -- especially due to the playing-time share he's gotten since the Fish moved on from Tim Anderson. With perhaps Jazz out the door next, seems like Edwards could continue to thrive there. Tools are in place for some 2H fantasy goodness.

2) One never quite knows with the Rays ... feel like Fairbanks is more stable than some other CL right now (say, Estevez and Megill) but if TAM gets a decent offer, can't think they'd have qualms with moving him. He wouldn't be a #1 fantasy trade target for me, but like him more than some.

3) Arraez, Busch, Donovan

Slight decrease in SwK and K rate is notable; that plus a bit of unfortunate H% are keeping his ratios a bit higher than expected. No huge skills swoon, though. This seems like within the realm of possible outcomes.

Hello sir, as always thank you for these chats. I’m in a dynasty 5x5 OBP league and just traded for Matt Olson with Casas hopefully coming back soon. What do you think the odds of Torkleson (who’s been holding down a bench spot for me) coming back and being a HR monster? I’ve been tempted to drop him for Pete Crow-Armstrong or Esteury Ruiz and use the spot for some stolen base potential. This is my cry for help to finally move on from Tork.

My gut said hang onto Tork, who is just 12 mo removed from a monster 2H-23. But then I checked the AAA statline, which is better than MLB, but not much. Still would not cut him for Ruiz, but could see it for PCA. But still difficult to give up on his pedigree.

H2H Dynasty QS. Is Bobby Miller worth stashing in a Dynasty League? What are your thoughts about him over the next 3 years?

Yes, I think so. The pitch-shape mavens have long raved about his fastball, and though obviously something's not been right so far in 2024, I think the Dodgers are committed to helping him figure it out. Would not surprise me if he still becomes a mainstay in that rotation over the next few seasons.

Walk rate higher; SwK/ K% small dip and unfortunate hit rate have all conspired. Given that he's 35, this has serious hints of age-related decline. I'd not be holding my breath for previous WHIP levels.

Waldron slightly for now, but am unconvinced long-term. Don't love Paddack, but if this is the only choice, give me CP over the next 3.

Good morning...what is the best way to utilize BBHQ stats to reconcile a P for a position player trade? In a Scoresheet NL only dynasty league, and a Bryce Harper for Skenes offer has been floated...if one assumes that P is average, and offence is average....what your opinion on that deal? Is a P that is awesome as Skenes has been still worth giving up a Harper type guy who gives production on a daily basis?

I'm still leaning Harper here if all things are "equal". His OBP is so outstanding for a sim league, it's been proven year over year. Yes, Skenes is awesome but the track record is minuscule and the injury risk so much greater. There are deals in which I'd trade a star hitter for him and take on that risk, but Harper is not one of these.

Good morning Brent-Love that the Red Sox got the Montgomery kid in the amateur draft last night! I am in a 12 team 5x5 AL Dynasty league and had Miranda go on the IR-with the All Star break would you wait and try and pick up Yoan Moncada or grab on of Willie Calhoun, Rich Palacios, Angel Martinez, Ryan Vilade or Anthony Rendon as a replacement until Miranda is back? Thanks in advance-Greg

Draft was fun last night for sure ... good plug to take in our fantasy-specific content on the draft if subscribers haven't yet.
The latest news on Miranda has him back fairly quickly -- as in next Sunday/Monday, so I wouldn't spend a ton for a replacement. Palacios and Martinez would be my prefs from the list you provide.

He's ... not that good and always injured? The two are likely related, of course, but the recent past says it's unlikely that changes in this season's 2H.

Assuming he doesn't have to take up one of those 6 spots (IE, you have a reserve or injury list) then yes for now I'd try to keep. If he has to fill one of those, then I'd move on.

Hi Brent, what’s the outlook for Sean Murphy for ROS? I’ve stuck with him all season, but don’t really see the production coming. Worth replacing him with someone like Stephenson? Thanks for any thoughts.

Gonna say yes, though of course more confident of this in 15s than 12s. But the fact that he could well be activated within a week or so adds to this likelihood.

Mountcastle given the team, though some risk of decreased PT with all the BAL youngsters. Lowe #2, Hoskins in there also. Vaughn had me interested in June; not so much now in July.
