Wednesday! Final touches on it today.

What is your [much too early, based on a much too small sample size, etc.] take on James Wood's prospects for the current season? Some contact issues and the 72% GB rate is generating Jordan Walker comparisons, but has there been any cause for optimism so far (other than WAS continuing to bat him high in the lineup to work through it)?
Brent Hershey
12:49
I'll take at least 1 hit in 11/14 games so far. He likely will have some issues with GB and Ks overall, but this is not the disaster debut that we all fear. Lineup position, those hits are good signs. He should get lots of run. More talented than Walker. Patience.

Who do you prefer to round out the back of a rotation ROS (12-team 5x5 QS league): Heaney or Schwellenbach?
Brent Hershey
12:49
Schwellenbach. Pitchability should help in a QS league.

Is Nolan Jones's improvement after he came back a good reason to hold on through his current injury?
Brent Hershey
12:51
For now, yes .... but he could be a setback away (very possible given this season's trajectory AND the fact it's a back issue) from a cut. I'm still (tentatively) holding.

What do you expect for Senga?
Brent Hershey
12:52
Entirely possible he's a 2H difference maker. My expectations are a bit lower than that, but in many leagues the upside shot is worth taking.

The K rate for Christian Scott has been disappointing, and his splits against left-handed hitters indicate there are adjustments needed. Will he hang on to a rotation spot and is his ceiling looking more like 4th/5th SP?
Brent Hershey
12:54
He's still a mid-rotation guy (with a #2 on his best years) for me. Those adjustments are ones he'll need to make for sure. Question will be for the Mets whether they give him the chance to do that at the MLB level in 2024. That's where he'll have to make them eventually, of course ... I hope they keep him up to see.

Morning, do you think Skubal is traded? What about Toronto? Are they gonna unload their top guys too?
Brent Hershey
12:55
I think Skubal stays. DET is making strides; he's a workhorse that they try and build around.

Thank you for the chat Brent. BBHQ Sub. I have A.Giminez in several Dynasty/Keeper leagues with HTH and Roto Scoring. I have to admit I am disappointed with the BA and OBP. It looks like the SB and HR are about what was expected. What are your thoughts on his future production? Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:59
Yep, I hear ya. Our xBA metrics always questioned that plus-BA in 2022, and though he makes great contact, the 4-5% walk rate is not an OBP foundation. While servicable, he's not as well-rounded as it seemed earlier in his career (though is still just 25 so could still improve).

Is woods Richardson a good keeper?  I can get him for $1
Brent Hershey

At $1 in that org (how they develop SP on the whole), could be worth a shot

Thanks Brent and enjoy the time in Arlington! Buzzer beater attempt: who would be your first cut if their recent struggles continue in the 2H: Woo, Bassitt, Kikuchi? (5x5 QS)
Brent Hershey

Bassitt

10-team 4x4 NL only.  I'd appreciate your opinion on ranking these buy-low SP candidates for 2025:  Max Meyer ($5), Braxton Garrett ($7), Edward Cabrera ($1), Kyle Harrison ($5), Jordan Hicks ($11).  Not sure which is the best to pursue, especially given confusing situation in MIA.  Thanks!
Brent Hershey

Harrison stands out, then Meyer/Hicks. Don't have much confidence in Garrett/Cabrera

5x5 (OB and TB)  10 Tm AL only Keeper League
Should I think of Soderstrom as my 1B, or as UT or CI for next year--I have two 3B planned for my 2025 roster, 1Yr Jr. Caminero and OPT Yr Maikel Garcia. PFNY. Thanks.
Brent Hershey

UT for now ... though 2H could change things. Lotsa ball yet to play!

H2H dynasty add OBP, TB, K's.  Rank these minors for next 5 years.  J. Caminero, Lawler, DeLauter, Mayo.  I can only keep 3 but can move one to my team roster.
Brent Hershey

Caminero / Mayo / Lawlar / DeLauter. I expect we'll see the first two on MLB rosters later this year.

(H2H QS, keeper)Traded to get Cease for this year and next 3.  His inconsistency is hurting.  Trade him or keep the faith?
Brent Hershey

His history says he's consistently inconsistent. Trade/keep depends on how much you can stomach it, as the highs are good.

Hi Brent,I am in 5x5 NL only league.Do to injury I have an opportunity to pick up either Rece Hinds or Troglia. I can use help in all offensive catagories.Which do you believe will add the most offense to my team……thank you !!!
Brent Hershey
1:05
Hinds, though both are high-risk due to Ks. But RH has shown speed also, so more bang/buck

Question, 10 team AL only quality starts/wins one of the categories.  Who do you trust health wise rest of season Flaherty of Schmidt?  thanks for all the great insight
Brent Hershey
1:06
Flaherty, since he's actually pitching now.

Thanks, all! Got to most of em; a fun hour+ as always. I WILL be back next week, as I hope you will also. Enjoy the few days off and the ASG festivities from wherever you are. And then keep grinding; still much of the season left. 'Til next week!
