Happy Monday, chatters! Thanks for joining, queue is ready (but still room for more), so let's get it!

Hi Brent- thanks again for the chat! 10 team H2H points (wins heavy)- drop Hunter Brown, Pivetta, Schwellenbach, Jared Jones or Woo for Pfaadt?
Brent Hershey
12:05
In a 10-teamer, not sure that waiting through Jones injury is worth it when you have the Pfaadt option. That's the way I'd go.

What do you expect ROS for Noelvi Marte?
Brent Hershey
12:07
Top-flight 3B option ... multi-category guy, great park and a situation where the team will just plug-and-play. I know it's been a slow start, but lots of season left. Hold.

morning do you think I should start Cannon against Texas this week ?
Brent Hershey
12:08
I do not; our Matchups tool rates his start this week as awful.

Hi Brent,
Thanks for answering this question. 16 team H@H points league.

We can only start 5 SPs. My top 3 are: Bibee, Valdez and Woo.

I have to choose 2 from: Ed. Cabrera (vBal), Scott (vATL), G. Williams (vDET), Civale (vMIA) and Marquez (vBOS)

I'm leaning to Civale and Scott - though without a great deal of confidence.

Thoughts? And thanks again.
Brent Hershey
12:11
Scott and Williams would be my choices; feel like those are the best mix of talent/situation/opponent. Not as much experience as some of the others, but have little faith in Civale/Cabrera/Marquez right now.

H2H 5x5 plus OBP, K, TB.  Have Goldy. A. Vaughn, M. Chapman, R. Tellez are available.  Hold or drop Goldy? Does the league being a dynasty league change the answer?
Brent Hershey
12:13
Hold Goldy, I would think. Dynasty doesn't change the answer, though Vaughn (if you still believe there's another step; I don't see it) becomes a bit more defensible.

H2H QS, K/9.  Rank ROS.  C Morton, E. Fedde, M. Waldron, L. Ortiz, J. Estes, B. Bello, Bobby Miller.
Brent Hershey
12:15
Big Ortiz believer, but still probably Fedde, Ortiz, Bello, Estes, Waldron, Morton, Miller.

Miller has the best raw stuff for me by far, but starting to think this is a lost year for him. Estes could be surprisingly good out of this group.

Hi Brent, and thanks for the year-long chats. As any fantasy baseball player knows, players rarely perform the same in the first half and second half. Some dip in performance in the 2nd half, while others surge. So Brent, are there players in each league that you would expect to have 1) lower stat output in the 2nd half, and 2) surging output in the 2H? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:19
Appreciate the kind words. Questions like these (open-ended) are tougher to answer in a chat format like this. But the premise is strong ... maybe Matt Wallner and Alek Thomas on the surprise side; Luis Gil and Ranger Suarez on the fall-off side?

DL Hall or Jacob Junis ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:20
Junis; Hall far more talent but ever-present injury risk.

Is Goldy done? UTL replacements? Standard redraft.
Brent Hershey
12:23
Could be (and my previous answer can also be true!). Metrics down across the board. Musta been because he went to Driveline (remember that?!?) Should be able to find a better UT replacement, yes.

H2H OBP. Vinny P is killing me at 1B. Stay the course or try to stream 1B. Options are all replacement level players.
Brent Hershey
12:25
I'd stay the course. Unlike Goldy, Vinnie's metrics are fine, a ton younger, coming off shoulder injury which could be playing a part. Good team now, too. He's basically a replacement player as-is, so don't feel like there's an upgrade there.
2B Trade
12:28
Hey Brent! Thanks for you advice in advance. Mixed League Dynasty Roto. I'm looking to move a 2B, but not sure who I should target. I'm looking to upgrade at pitcher (SP&RP needs). Currently have India, Turang, Stott, and Morel who are eligible for 2B. Which should I try to move and who would be a good target?
Brent Hershey
12:28
I'd probably prefer to move India, all things equal. But this is a good case study of maybe taking offers on them all, and choosing the best one that comes back. I might slightly prefer to keep Turang (sick SB #s), but believe enough in the others that if I was getting back the best player in the deal, could live with parting with him b/c of the depth you have. Let your trade partners "decide" who to deal.

10tm H2H OBP. S. Suzukis seems average this year.  What to expect the ROS.  M. Andujar, Soler, J. Sanchez, Renfroe as possible replacements.  Thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:30
Prefer Suzuki to all those guys. Andujar - no track record; Soler - inj history; Sanchez - hasn't proven can hit LHP; Renfroe - easy no. Stick with Seiya.

Was once excited about Adell, Moniak, Taveras, and Jesus Sanchez. Any signs that one of these men will live up to their hype or potential?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Adell is striking out a bit less again; for me he's the most likely to live up to expectations, but far from a sure thing. Sanchez maybe, if he can overcome platoon tag. Less hope for Taveras (though PT is stable for now); none for Moniak (at least the top draft pick expectations)

12:35
Hello Brent! Thanks as always. What does your crystal ball say the pirates will do - buy? Sell? How much longer can they live with such horrible OF production? Suwinski, Taylor & Palacios are terrible
Brent Hershey
12:35
Think they look to upgrade at the edges; getting better OF production should be a priority. But I don't expect big moves for now. Still a couple years away from that.
Johnny Dickshot
12:35
Should we be worried about Baz?
Brent Hershey
12:35
It's fair to be worried; yes. Has to improve command. Maybe ... this is why he took so long on rehab? Just an idea.
Porcho Villa
12:40
What's your take on Morel at the halfway point? Giving back his early contact gains over the past month. Cubs seem committed to giving him a shot but that could change post deadline (whether he's dealt or ceding PT to callups). He's been my everyday 3B but also have Royce coming back, Mayo stashed, and Burger, Malloy, and N. Marte available on the wire; in this context is Morel a priority hold ROS? (5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:40
With options like that on your wire, I wouldn't be holding/waiting for Morel. Yep, power potential is massive, but swing and miss is the main issue, and sounds like you have better options. Marte>Burger>Malloy on the wire guys.

Pivetta is impossible to own. I never know when to start/sit him...
Brent Hershey
12:43
Agree the volatility is maddening. But the highs, when you get em, are glorious. Right now, I've got him in the always-start bucket and living with the results, rather than trying to time the market. This has improved my mental health. :-)

Please rank ROS: Pivetta, Woo, Gore, Luis L. Ortiz. Thanks!
Brent Hershey

Woo, Pivetta, Ortiz, Gore. Those first three are close; Gore is not and an easy #4

Like you, I’m a believer in Luis L. Ortiz, and he’s on my current roster, but the projection systems are all down on him and he seemed to get pretty lucky in his last start with only 2 strikeouts in 7 innings and a BHQ xERA of 5.19. Please convince me he’s a hold in a 12-team mixed 5X5 league. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:50
  1. Projection systems not accounting for the new-pitch change (cutter).
  2. Pedigreed prospect who's been through some lumps and could be seeing the other side
  3. PIT has handled him in a way (slowly increasing workload and opps though this season) that say THEY believe in him as a long-term asset.
  4. Is it possible that Pirates morphed into a sneaky-good pitching org?
Broken Bat

Waldron or Rodon rest of year  and why. I am split. Waldron as knuckler seems to get thru 2nd time thru order pretty well. Thoughts.
