I know nobody really knows but since it would be cheap to acquire any of the Giant bullpen guys right now - do any of them have a chance at stealing the job and getting me 6 saves the rest of the way in my NL only league? I stashed Winn on my reserve a few weeks back because he was available.

I imagine Killan is gone ... that's the last one who was 'pegged', but that team and manager is so tough to pin down. Maybe Foley, but he's barely been there.

Looks like Langiliers is done for the year.  One catcher league.  Available are: Rutchman,Francisco Alvarez, Jonah Heim, Joe Mack, Kiebert Ruiz, Stephenson. Regular  playing time is important factor.  Please rank the listing.  Thanks!

Alvarez easily for me. Then Ruiz / Stephenson/ Heim in a pack, Mack and Adley bringing up the rear. Feel like most have solid PT outlooks

Starting pitching is scarce in 15-team QS league. Are Hayden Wesneski or Jordan Montgomery worthwhile preemptive pick-ups?

Yeah, could see either. Would probably lean Wesneski out of the two, as he's had less time off since last pitching.

Doubt it. He might have another randomly productive year or two, but nothing that would rise to regrettable. SD might be jealous of your opportunity to drop.

Good morning and thanks for the chat.  I've become one of those owners of Julio Rodriguez getting tired of a full blown breakout.  Feels like every game he's 1-5 or 1-4, if getting a hit at all.  Never seems to hit a hot streak. Then I see his 5-year trend of declining xPx, and I wonder...is there something under the hood that should make me concerned?  Is now the time to sell on a potential declining asset in an AL-only 35-man protect dynasty Scoresheet league?  Or just lower expectations?

Really fair question. But I just can't categorize a 25-year-old with his pedigree as a "potential declining asset." He has had hot streaks for periods earlier in his career (second halves, often), but it's been dry this year, for sure. Statcast measures — HH%, exit velo, barrels, etc — do mirror the slow decline of xPX, though. Comparing year to year, it seems within normal variance ... but as a multi-year trend, it's not good. Maybe I'm too much of a prospect hound, but I couldn't sell him off at this point, esp. in a SS league with CF defense. Lowering expectations might be the play.

I see Jarvis/Sanoja about equal. Might lean Sanoja because multipositional flexiblity gives him more paths to PT. ATL could well bring in a more proven SS here a the deadline.

Contending vs. Keeper Dilemma

Good morning Brent.  I'm in a 16 Team ROTO Keeper League with OBP, RP, HR, DT, and SB.  Have to cut one of these 3:  Bichette, R. Lewis, and K Stowers.  Bichette would not be a potential keeper (barring him exploding the rest of the way) but Lewis and Stowers would both be (Lewis could be kept for the minimum, Stowers slightly higher).  Another factor is Bichette's cost against our salary cap ROS is almost 2x the other two which limits our flexibility to trade for high priced non-keepers....  So wrestling with who would be the best player ROS and who has the most keeper league upside?  Thanks for your help.

Would tend to agree with you on Bichette being the cut given what you provided (keeper/sal considerations and categories). Also feel like Lewis/Stowers have more long-term value.

Is Serven worth a look for the A's assuming Heim gets dealt, or will someone else likely get the bulk of PT once that happens?

hi Brent-NL only 5x5 can you rank for bench- Polanco,Tawa,Killian and Junk. Not sure why Polanco comes up so much higher on the custom value tool. Thanks

Tawa, Polanco, Killan then Junk. If you're close in saves and can afford taking a shot, then Killan could be first. But the hitters likely more stable.

Is the ROS for Wilyer Abreu the stats we've seen from him the last several weeks? If so, is it time to look elsewhere?
Also, Boston's IF woes brought me Anthony Seigler, who has been as successful in their leadoff spot as JDuran had been, now appears redundant, do I drop him?

No; I'd wait until after the Deadline. He's gotta be the next one up if they move Sandy or another one of their SP. If he's not up after the deadline, then yes, fairly safe to move on from.

Eh around 5 HR, ~20 RBI; .250. Maybe some a bit of upside from there. Think the important thing is that if you're bidding today, you might get 2 extra weeks of stats before the Deadline Day moves (if there are any comparable NL-to-AL movers). Because you don't know who (or if) those are, there's an argument to be aggressive this period.

Hi Brent. Two-parter: who is the best speculative add for near-term production among CES, Joey Ortiz, Rengifo, and Crews? And, would you drop Jac Caglianone (scuffling for a month plus and now coming off another minor shoulder injury) for any of these guys?

I'd rank those four as Crews, CES, Ortiz, Rengifo, with the first two more desirable than the second duo.

Yeah, I'd try Crews over Cags ... more well-rounded player; waaaay better lineup of course. Would likely keep Cags over the rest. Just strikes me as a streaky player, and this is a down time.

Hey Brent, fantasy aside, what do you think about the Curtis Mead - Connelly Early trade? Like all trades, time will tell obviously, but it sure seems like the Sox gave up a lot for someone that was DFA'd just 3 months ago. Giving up great young pitching, which is not easy to come by, for someone that has been productive and hot for 3 months as a semi full time player seems like a win for the Nationals with little to lose and everything to gain from their perspective. Even fantasy owners were late in grabbing Mead, not being believers. That being said, Mead should be a pretty good fit in Fenway offensively at least if he is able to continue his breakout campaign.

Love it in terms of 1:1 deals. Each got something their team needed. I think Mead's step up is for real. But WAS has tons of young hitters behind him (House being the obvious one, but others in the system) and very little MLB-ready pitching. So love Early in terms of filling that need. Pretty much a given that Tolle is the higher upside of the two for BOS, and they had SP depth to deal for a RH bat. Personally, I probably prefer getting Early, but from this perspective, I don't think either side got fleeced. Fun deal.
