Believer here ... but at the same time I think he's been a bit over his skis. Mid-3s sounds about right. Ride it and enjoy.

Hi Brent, one more in case there’s time. Which two of these four would you drop? Allard, Brash, Taylor Rogers, Cristopher Sanchez. Deep, 16-team H2H league with keepers. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:51
Rogers for sure and probably Brash ... unless there's some RP points or non-traditional consideration. Not in love with Sanchez, but has pitched well recently and better chance he becomes a useful starter than the above two IMO.

10-tm, H2H category … Nola, Javier, Morton all have been sinking what thought would be winning team. Would you think of dropping Javier and/or Morton and trying to stream ?
Brent Hershey
12:52
All depends on your options and in a 10, you may have them. But without replacement names, I'd probably say no and just ride out the proven vets.

Hi Brent, would you be able to rank the following ROS (I get that it might be tricky with slightly different skill sets)? Whit Merrifield, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., J.D. Davis, Joey Gallo, Ian Happ. I was offered Mike Trout (would be a rental) for Gallo, Happ, Aaron Civale, and Hyun-Jin Ryu and I’m trying to determine a) whether it’s worth giving up that much volume for a single player and b) which of those hitters are most worth moving on from versus those that could be significant contributors down the stretch (and thus whether it might be worth attempting to slightly alter the proposed deal in light of that). League is deep, 16-team H2H with keepers. Thanks and Happy Fourth!

1) this chat is tricky
2) Merrifield, Gurriel, Happ, Davis, Gallo ... though those final two are close
3) Take the deal, esp if you can sniff the championship. None of those seem like huge keeper values to me. Each could have some utility to you ROS, but I'd take my chances w/ Trout and picking out useful free agents. Good luck!

Christian Walker 125 BPV in June and K'ing less than ever. You think it's sustainable, or sell high?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Prob over his head a bit ... but I'm holding given his recent success and now with that great team context.

The hour is closing quickly, will try to bang out a few more....

What do you make of Matos? His projection looks like a slam dunk Rookie of the Year; his stats, no so much. Is this another 12 step guy?
Brent Hershey
12:59
10-stepper should be the standard, really, for all rooks. Matos will be up and down like most until he proves he can adjust.

Should we expect Eugenio Suarez's second half to look more like his first half or previous year's statlines?
Brent Hershey
1:00
Previous year; think he's a huge 2H rebound candidate given similar underlying skills to previous seasons.

Has Kyle Manzardo's stock taken a hit this year?
Brent Hershey
1:00
A bit, yes ... though checking back next week at our BHQ Top50 update list will be another data point

Odds that Jason Adam gets more than 5 saves in the second half?
Brent Hershey
1:01
High. Fairbanks has not shown he can stay healthy.

Any hints that Jansen starts to lose his closer role to Martin? He was putrid earlier in the year but seemed stronger last month
Brent Hershey
1:02
I'm not worried about that right now, though it's worth tracking for sure. Part of it is that "the field" is likely larger than just Martin.

Thanks to the BBHQ crew for all of their timely info.  Has helped me immensely since 1999.  Brent, have you ever considered having 2 chats a week sincethe queue seems to fill easily on Mondays?  Maybe a Friday chat?
Brent Hershey
1:03
We have considered that and may test it out here in the second half. Thx for the feedback

Who has the most promising ROS outlook (12 team 5x5 OBP): N. Jones, Casas, or Westburg? Casas seems most talented and furthest along, but can't seem to find full time PT despite reasonable platoon splits. Jones was off to a nice start but now getting Rockied on his PT. Westburg getting the PT but ceiling feels limited.
Brent Hershey
1:03
Pretty much agree w/ your assessment. I think Casas' skills win out.
Dave

Brent, thanks again for these chats- can you rank these C in H2H points ROS? Y. Diaz, Jansen, P. Bailey, Melendez, Stephenson
Brent Hershey
1:05
This was tough: MJ, Stephenson, Bailey, Diaz, Jansen. Not at all confident about that rank other than Jansen at #5.

EDC is electrifying, no doubt. Does his (somewhat troubling) 31%K rate limit his top end fantasy value or is this a true unicorn?
Brent Hershey
1:07
Lazy comp, but really does remind me of discussions re: Oneil Cruz recently. Both things can be true (capped, but also a unicorn).
Dave

Shallow H2H points- drop German or F. Peralta for ERod, or wait and see how he performs?
Brent Hershey
1:07
Wait in a shallow, I'd think
Drew
1:08
Are you buying or selling Luke Raley? K% still north of 30, but hitting the ball hard and in the middle of the Rays lineup. With SBs to boot.
Brent Hershey
1:08
Buying, though some trepidation about the PT rotation. Wish he was a full-timer. Along with Josh Lowe
Lou
1:09
Is Drey Jameson's ultimate role at the back end of the pen, or is he a tweak and improved command away from grabbing and holding onto a rotation spot?
Brent Hershey
1:09
He's a tweak away, but with bullpen fallback. Better in real life setup than in fantasy, unfortunately.

What’s the proper strategy for streaming hitters in daily transactions -only leagues? In this order, I watch for rainouts and days off, play my best players (e.g., Betts) all the time, and then:
1.      watch for minor injuries,
2.      watch for days off from the lineup,
3.      bench platoon hitters* facing same-side pitchers (but I treat one guy with reverse splits as if he hit from the opposite side).
4.      play matchups using BHQ daily ratings,
5.      bench slumping players
Yet I always seem to get it wrong: over the last 4 weeks, my bench is hitting .281 in 96 AB with 3 HR, 2 SB, 9 R and 11 RBI. And remember, I’m generally benching my worst players, yet they still seem to produce better from my bench.
Am I missing something, using the wrong priorities. or should I use other tools to choose whom to bench?
Brent Hershey

Process looks sound to me; I'd continue to use it. Randomness happens. Frustrating but true.

Alright, folks ... got to most of em; apologies for those I didn't. Will be here next week, reporting in from Seattle and the ASG week! Have an injury-free one in the sprint to the Break!
