No; I'd hold. Talent is there to succeed even outside LA. And he could be someone LA refuses to deal, which would make him all the more attractive fantasy wise.

Contending for the top in deep NL only league. I have Jake McCarthy as a roster stash. Is there enough in his profile to see him grabbing 50% OF starts, assuming Dbacks trade Peralta and make room? Seems like make or break time for the 24-year old.

As you prob know, his AAA numbers this year were very very good. I do think he could be an emergent player in the 2H, but not sure he'd be the type I'd count right now if I'm in contention. Would explore trade partners

NL-only, sitting in 2nd.  I have Corbin Carroll to trade.  I have asked for Fried, Varsho and K.Marte to make a push.  I would send back Carroll and Campusano.  Am I asking for too much to restock the 8th place team?  I view Carroll as a 5 tool guy who could perform for years.

Not asking for too much, but assuming this is a keeper league, I think it's more likely Carroll comes up and gives you something in the 2H (and you have him for future years) than that trio helps you. I'm with you on Carroll and would hold him for the future.

One last question from me for this week. Trying to figure out how to value Miranda long-term. Twins have a number of players that can play first base plus Sano will be back shortly. From a fantasy standpoint I'd like to see Miranda at 3B, but in real life not sure if he can handle it defensively. Looking ahead to 2023, is he a full time starter somewhere?

Was skeptical early, but like the adjustments at the plate. Like you, not sure of his position, but also don't think Sanó will block him as much as people think. Yes, in 2023, my hunch is that Miranda will have FT AB between COR IF / DH spots. MIN will find a way to make that work.

Still more Esteury Ruiz. A lot of soft contact in his small MLB sample, and despite great surface numbers, not a lot of hard contact in the minors, either. Do you think he’s likely to get optioned to AAA when Myers and Tatis return to the Padres?

This is one possibility that looms for sure, and the soft contact is a long-term fantasy risk. Could work, but might not.

Vinnie P has an xBA 100 points higher than his BA and xSLB 300 points higher than his SLG.  He will improve, yes??
Brent Hershey

Yes, but the "when" is why even the highest-hyped rookies are risky in-season adds. But correct the underlying metrics here are positive.

Last one; sorry I couldn't get to them all today ...

Good morning, Brent! Back by popular demand … it's another round of either/or! From a dynasty context (H2H; AVG/OBP/SLG/R/RBI/SB), who would you rather have between:

  1. A. Akil Baddoo and B. Trent Grisham?
  2. A. Thairo Estrada and B. Isaac Paredes?
  3. A. Tyler Stephenson and B. Daulton Varsho?
  4. A. Daulton Varsho and B. Alejandro Kirk?
  5. A. Kyle Tucker and B. Julio Rodriguez?
  6. A. Shane McClanahan and B. Julio Urias?
  7. A. V. Brujan and B. C. Biggio?
  8. B. Marsh and J. Walsh?

Thank you for another round of fun!

Gotta run here; enjoy the Derby tonight and the ASG tomorrow. Will be in the house for both. Back next week, same time/channel. Check out our BHQ offerings and especially First Pitch Arizona in November -- not too early to plan! Thanks, all!
