Good Noon (ET), chatters! Lotsa goods in the queue; I'll try to get to as many as I can which means ... less small talk up front. Let's go!

Campusano was highly rated catching prospect who has gone through some struggles. With Sanchez and Nola surely gone next year, is it crazy he's has aPadres #1 catcher next year. How would you compare him to other young catchers like Naylor and Endy Rodriguez?
Brent Hershey
12:05
Think Campusano as Pads #1 in 2024 is plausible, yes. Could well be a bit of prospect fatigue here — though the repeated injuries should be noted. For fantasy, long-term I still would rank them Naylor / LCamp / Endy. I wonder a bit about how much pop Endy will ... ahem .... end up with. As we know, though, CAs are on their own development curve...

Brent, thanks for the chat!  What to do with Hunter Renfroe in 10 team H2H points?  Despite 15 HR, he only has.a 102 PX and 113 XPX ROS.  He is playing, but should I drop him for Kiriloff or another hot hand?
Brent Hershey
12:06
Context is everything ... in a 10-tmer, yes, I think you ride the hot hand more, and Kirilloff is that over Renfroe right now.

Hi Brent, our league’s trade deadline is in a week and I’m working hard to analyze my roster to identify my biggest needs (going for it again this year in our deep 16 team H2Hl league with keepers). A few questions on relievers (sholds league):

Do you think it’s worth seeking out trades for Mark Leiter Jr. and/or  David Robertson? Leiter has experienced some pretty significant skills slippage over the last month and role seems problematic on a non-contending team. Robertson has seen key skills decline linearly over the course of the season but definitely brings the volume (although not sure what will happen were he to be dealt).

How would you rank the following ROS in terms of contributions to sholds but also ability to not harm ratios: Chapman, Scott, Sewald, Adam. Am considering attempting to trade for one or two of them.

Do you see Abner Uribe grabbing any meaningful time in leverage ROS?

Thank you so much for your answers to all of my questions week in and week out. Love this chat.
Brent Hershey
12:12
In a 'going for it' mode; would prefer surer things than Leiter Jr/Robertson. Could change with MLB deadline, but that might not work for you. You have identified the risks with both.

Chapman / Seward / Adam / Scott

Really watched Uribe for the first time this week; really interesting arm. I guess it's possible he could have some impact ROS (holds, mostly), but always tough to project rookie like that. More interesting as a consistent setup/holds guy for 2024.

Garcia has a hand injury ,so would you sit him this week and start Bleday?
Brent Hershey
12:16
Given the downgrade, I'd wait as long as I could to make that call, ideally to see whether AG is in the Monday lineup or not. Have to think some more news on this comes out before gametime; the trouble gripping bat yesterday doesn't sound real promising.

Hi Brent, my pitching in a Points League has gone from a huge asset at the start of the season to a bit of a liability more recently. Keller, Urias, Ryan, Cobb, and especially Javier have been killing me. Cristopher Sanchez is on the wire. Worth dropping Javier, or maybe Gonsolin, for him? Thanks for any thoughts.
Brent Hershey
12:18
Ooooo, yeah that's a great May rotation gone shaky quickly. Would prob bench but not cut Javier, but could see picking up Sanchez for Gonsolin. Sanchez surprisingly effective, throwing strikes so far.

Is kiriloff putting it together now or what is this sudden outbreak after doing nothing all year?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Given his pedigree, I think he's putting it together. Not always going to have a monster week like last and seasonal BABIP is a bit high ... but controlling the zone better and getting the ball in the air more. Thumbs up for now.
Grant
12:24
Please rank the following relievers ROS: Payamps, Adam, Puk, Munoz.
Brent Hershey
12:24
Reminder that context is crucial -- are you looking for saves/holds/ratios, etc? Gonna rank via saves: Puk, Muñoz, Adam, Payamps. Am worried about Puk's recent struggles, but still feel he has best path to saves of the quartet right now.

Streamer for DH this week - no negative pts for k.  CJ Cron, Kiriloff, CJ Abrams or C. Correa? Also, does Hunter Greene start in the next 2 weeks?
Brent Hershey
12:28
Abrams - hot hand; 7G week.

Greene - guess it's possible, but I would have thought we would have heard rebab game plan by now if we expected him to get back in that window. So I'm going to assume mid-August MLB return at the earliest.

Hi Brent, is Olivares (KC) and Gonzales (PIT) a productive bat in a 15-team mixed ROS?  Also, is this the time to sell on GrayRod given that he is at 100 IP this year versus 75 IP in the minors last year?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Borderline 15-tmers in the leagues I'm in. Think I would trust Olivares more for "production", although Gonzales may be up for more playing time.

GrayRod - Perhaps; could be a situation though where what BAL does at the deadline gives a window into their thinking. If they aren't able to get another SP, maybe that means they feel comfortable running him over as long as they are in the race. Redraft league, though, I could see moving him if the return is more stable.

Brent, thoughts on how Hernandez will do if Barlow is dealt?  His stuff is intriguing.  Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:36
Very intriguing. The thing I wonder about is if KC felt he was the one to ascend into the role (post-Barlow), why are his current usage patterns all over the map? Sometimes he enters in the 6th, sometimes he goes multiple innings, etc. That fact, along with some of the Rays roots in their leadership group (mgr the most), makes me wonder if they plan to adopt some of the non-fantasy friendly bullpen tactics that drive us all nuts. IE, Hernandez seems like a 'traditional' closer candidate if they move Barlow; but KC has other ideas. Will be fascinating to watch b/c yes, seems like CH's stuff if tailor-made for the 9th.
Ron
12:38
Always appreciate the time and guidance you guys provide. 12 team H2H redraft league, we start 3 SP’s per week and get most of their value on wins. Any reason to hold on to Braxton Garrett or just throw him in the pool and stream. He has been getting hit hard since ASB and not sure if he has an innings limit
Brent Hershey
12:38
For 3 SP/week, not sure Garrett is a no-doubt hold guy; I'd think you could play matchups and do just as well. Yeah, post-ASB has not been kind in this case (speaking from experience)
Ryan McMahon
12:40
Thanks for doing this each week. It has been so helpful for me! I'm struggling with what to do with Ryan McMahon. Should I be looking to trade or drop McMahon? I have Arraez and Altuve @ 2B, and Machado and Jordan Walker @ 3B.
Brent Hershey
12:40
I've used him most as a home-only guy this year; and with your alternatives, once Altuve proves himself healthy again, I think you can probably move on.
Keepers
12:43
In a startup keeper 5x5 roto (mixed) - no N/A spot. We can keep as many players as we want, for an additional cost to our buy-in, for the upcoming year. Does it make sense to keep top prospects (Holliday/Wood/etc.) on my bench, taking up a spot? It's hard to validate right now, when I could have someone there that is producing or closer to getting called up. This is my first year playing, so I'm just looking for a little guidance. Thanks so much!
Brent Hershey
12:43
If you have both Holliday and Wood in a keeper, I think you bite the bullet this year for the future (even in 2024) potential. They are 2 of the top 4 prospects in the game; both have significant fantasy impact qualities. Take the pain now for payoff later.

Brent - Our Scoresheet League has a 50 IP threshold for rookies.  I typically like to grab a rookie closer/set up type in our last draft who won't pass that threshold before the end of the season, so i can save him as a rookie instead of a keeper.  Any thoughts on candidates?  Last season, Robert Suarez was my guy.
Brent Hershey
12:48
Great strategy, which I've used myself. Maybe Abner Uribe for MIL? If the Phillies activate or trade Noah Song, that's another. On the AL side, maybe Alex Speas (TEX)?

12:48
What do you think the Ms do with Woo for the rest of the year? Shut down soon? Not like they have many other options
Brent Hershey
12:48
Seems like that should be the plan, yes. Especially if they sell at the deadline, I'll bet that happens.

12:49
Is Julks toast now with Yordan back and Chas playing so well?
Brent Hershey
12:49
Yea, think that window is rapidly closing right now.
Bob
12:50
Do you think AJ Puk will be worth rostering ROS in a holds league?
Brent Hershey
12:50
Yes, because I think they will give him chances to figure it out, even if they remove him from the 'closer' role. Arm is too good.
Buff
12:50
Deep NL-only keeper. Are you on board with Hayden Wesneski as a sneaky keeper target for next year?
Brent Hershey
12:50
Yes, still in on someone like Wesneski, especially if you're just targeting 2024.
Buff

Since the break Jackson Chourio and Tyler Black have been tearing it up at the top of the Beloit (AA) lineup. Have you heard anything about their possible promotion to AAA or even to Milwaukee this year?
Brent Hershey
12:51
Have not ... though a Chourio promotion to AAA would not surprise. Not out of the question that he could follow the Corbin Carroll / Gunnar path from last year (Sept callup, but maintain his rookie eligibility for 2024).
