Happy Friday everyone! Looks like a fun weekend of ball ahead. Some good questions in the queue, let's dive in....

Hi Ray.  Thanks for doing the chat!!  What do you expect PT to be for Lawlar when he returns?  Also- any innings limits for Tolle, Cantillo, and Cavalli? Thank you!
Ray Murphy
2:05
I assume Lawlar gets CF back, and they shuffle Troy to a util role. Of course, with Lawlar the constant question is how long does he hold up until the next IL stint. Really seemed like things were clicking for him before this last injury, though.

Sox say no limit for Tolle, but we'll see if that holds up to reality. Ryan Bloomfield covered a lot of these innings limit guys in a recent Speculator.

Been holding Cole Ragans in keep-forever dynasty. But with 3rd UCL surgery, is he worth the roster spot? So good when healthy, but will he ever get back to that? Would love to hear your thoughts?
Ray Murphy
2:07
As always, depends what you'd do with the roster spot instead. There's so little data on 3rd UCL injuries, I don't know that we know how much worse they are than 2nd injuries (which are a lot worse than 1st). I hate managing my roster with a lockout in mind, but maybe you hold Ragans for rest of this season just in case next year is cut so short that it doesn't hurt as much to carry him then? Can always dump next March if we're playing ball. (Fingers crossed)

Thanks for the opportunity to ask for advice. I can get NYM SP Peralta in a trade for Hunter Brown. It’s a 2-2 trade with the 1-1 favoring me a little. I realize peak health, Brown is way more shiny. Peralta…I see him with great efforts every start ROS, playing for the ‘28 paycheck. Not a keeper league. Thoughts?
Ray Murphy
2:09
They've both been terrible lately, though Peralta's skills have been better. Brown with more BB than K over last month is horrifying. That said, you're putting a lot of weight on soft factors/narrative here. Who's to say that Peralta hasn't been "playing for the 28 paycheck" all season, putting too much pressure on himself and that's why he's stunk? We don't know what goes on inside these guys' heads.

AL only 4x4   ROS CE Strand or Mcneil, Rocker or Lugo.BONUS ? Has Bello figured it out? Thank you
Ray Murphy
2:11
Lots of apples/oranges here. I've given up on McNeil. CES has looked interesting in this latest callup, there's still latent skill there.

Bello is fascinating. He's looked good as a bulk guy, but he looked good as a bulk guy before he got sent down too. I think the Sox are content to keep him in a low-lev role like that as long as it's working, and it seems to be working.

AL only standard rotis with keepers. Wins and QS. Starting pitching has been pretty much picked clean with all the injuries. My choices are Bradish, Gore, or Bieber. Only considering Bieber due to his recent success. Bradish is pitching better as well, but he's been inconsistent. Gore’s been terrible lately, but his underlying metrics are good.Who do you like? Same story in NL only. Drohan or Roupp? Thanks as always!
Ray Murphy
2:12
Bradish and Drohan. Neither is a close call for me.

Is Endy Rodriguez worth holding on to? Was very productive before getting hurt (again). Henry Davis has shown some improvement with position all to himself so wondering what role Endy will step back into.
Ray Murphy
2:13
I've been holding him in a couple of places, just because the C pool is so bleak and, as you say, he was productive before getting hurt. If he comes back and stays productive, him in a job-share with Davis is still a better use of that roster spot than a lot of the blech C's on most waiver wires.

KyleManzardo has been disappointing to say the least. Do you think he is the long-term starting First Baseman for Cleveland or will Ralphy Velazquez take over soon?
Ray Murphy
2:15
I don't know about soon, but I loved Manzardo coming into the year and he's completely failed. CLE struggling to score and seemingly has to do something else there. When/whether that's Velazquez, I don't know.

who do you like ROS Moniak or Kwan
Ray Murphy
2:16
Moniak has picked up where he left off since coming off the IL. That said, Kwan seems to have figured it out over the last month or so. Kwan for BA, Moniak for power.

Hi Ray,  Very deep mixed 5x5 league questions:
A. Is this the correct waiver priority for ROS:  Zac Veen > CES > Cortes
B. Who is good ROS trade target to boost AVG? Arraez, Marte, J. Wilson?
C. Does Jack Perkins have bigger ROS impact than B. Garrett?
D. Who are your favorite deep league saves stashes? J. Martinez? E. Miller? M. Petersen?
Ray Murphy
2:19
A. I'd take the bird-in-hand of CES.
B. Arraez for BA, always.
C. Not optimistic about either.
D. Martinez, sure. Bachman in LAA if Yates is gone?

Matthew Liberatore.  I had hoped that he could be a solid SP2 in my 10 team NL-only roto league, but now even a SP3 seems like a bit of a stretch.  I can keep him next year at a great price, but I'm starting to doubt whether he'll be worth it.Are you at all op
Ray Murphy
2:20
You were definitely too optimistic. Skills are basically flat over 2024, 2025, 2026. xERA says he's a 4.25-4.50 guy, nothing more.

20 team league H2H categories R/HR/RBI/SB/OBP/SLG, 40 man rosters, keep up to 20 per year.  Our commish is sadistic and makes us have an LF CF RF instead of just OFx3.  Jarren Duran or Michael Harris II, which would you rather have and keep for say at least the next three seasons?
Ray Murphy
2:23
Duran's season has been as mysterious as it's been frustrating. I'd favor Harris now and going forward. He's only 25, just coming into his prime off a nice platform year here.

NL 12 team keeper league.  Frustrated with a $25 Bogaerts. Would it be an upgrade to grab Max Kepler, Jim Jarvis, Jared Young, Jesus Rodriquez or Bryan Torres. If one of those is a better replacement how would you rank them?
Ray Murphy
2:24
I might just keep Bogaerts from this group. Not that I'm super optimistic about a recovery, but nothing you've listed as a replacement excites me.

5x5 AL only im holding tyron, guerrero from boston because of his bpv #s. any chance at all he gets traded and gets to close. or am i just wishing on  a 35 year old reclamation project as an ole timer thanks
Ray Murphy

Sox are back in the race, likely not trading Chapman or any other reliever. Guerrero's been great, but I think he remains a setup guy in Boston for the rest of the year.

Hi Ray, thanks for responding to this question 16 team H2H points league with $430 salary cap (40 man roster: 23 active 17 reserve). My question pertains to Trea Turner. I have at $33 this year and can resign him for at $45 next year. His production seems to be in a decline, both BA and power. He's SS eligible for '27 though how much longer that will continue is a question. I can trade him this winter or resign him. I'm leaning to trading him. I currently have Henderson at SS and Turner at MI. I can replace Turner there with Antonacci if necessay.
Ray Murphy
2:26
Turner's picked it up lately, a strong 2H may make you not regret that $33 too much. That said, $45 next year for a then-34 year old seems like a bridge too far.

Hi Ray, NFBC 15-team 5X5. My team is a MASH unit with Kurtz, Gelof, Witt, Horwitz on IR. How would you rank these guys ROS: Enc-Strand, Henry Davis, N. Fortes, Jacob Gonzalez, J. Ortiz, Pinango? Thanks.
Ray Murphy
2:28
Mentioned CES above, there seems to be some life in his bat right now and BAL needs that. Intrigued by Gonzalez in PIT as well, he's got some pop in the bat and a wide-open opportunity. Davis ok as a job-share C with Endy. Ortiz just doesn't hit enough. Pinango's crashing back to earth.
Chris
2:31
Hi Ray, thanks for taking my question. NFBC 15-team 5X5. Have Cabrera and McDonald on IR, waiting for Holmes to come off. In the meantime, how would you rank these SPs ROS: Dobbins, Bello, Drake, Petersen, Avila?
Ray Murphy
2:31
I like Dobbins from that group, and not much else. Mentioned Bello above. Wouldn't touch the rest.
Beano
2:31
Hey. Ray! Thanks for these chats. Do you think the Met will be able to move L Robert in a trade? If not, how does PT ROS play out?
Ray Murphy
2:31
Either they move him or he gets hurt again, I would assume.
Beano
2:33
OoH! One more - do you think Jim Jarvis is the real deal? I knew nothing about him until he became the Braves starting SS
Ray Murphy
2:33
What he's done so far is consistent with his callup report... empty contact, no pop. 35% hit rate prob doesn't last. I'm not terribly interested.
Bobby
2:34
Trading Julio as contract expires end of season. Which is better for a) Cam Smith, B) Lazaro Montes & Cade Anderson.
Ray Murphy
2:34
As always, I'm not a prospect guru. But getting #4 and #28 on our midseason top 50 seems pretty solid. I haven't given up on Smith, either, but I think I'd take package B.
Rick

I thought O'Hoppe was supposed to be a decent hitting catcher. Do you think he is healthy or still hurt?
