I've watched this carefully as a Gallegos owner in a few places. I actually don't hate how Marmol is handling it. He clearly tries not to use them in the same game unless he has an off day the next day. He wants one of them fresh at all times... and generally, he'll give the fresh guy the full 9th inning and use the other as a mid-inning/fireman and try to limit him to a couple of outs. I'm not close enough to the situation to see whether the two guys themselves are complaining about it, but I can see the method in the madness. That said, it is certainly not fantasy-friendly.

Brandon Lowe and his back problems. Having had back surgery myself I am inclined to drop him as this seems to have become chronic. What say you?

We gave it a 3 of 5 on our Big Hurt Worry-o-Meter. That's droppable in my book.

Time for the lightning round to finish up....

Would you prefer Logan Gilbert or George Kirby ROS in a 5X5 weekly H2H league, and why? Thanks!
Ray Murphy
12:55
I could barely separate them in the preseason and still can't. Give me Kirby and his 61/6 K/BB ratio... not that Gilbert's 81/13 is anything to sneeze at.

Please rank ROS for 5x5 Grossman, Olivares, Kepler, Bauers
Ray Murphy
12:55
Olivares and I'm not sure the rest even last til the end of the season.

Merrill Kelly or Charlie Morton in an IP/QS league ROS?
Ray Murphy
12:56
Kelly, esp in a QS format. Dude's an underappreciated horse.

Deep NL keeper league. Have a chance to flip Smith-Shawver in a deal that returns Lodolo. Who is better the next two years?
Ray Murphy

Tough one, maybe edge to S-S if you're willing to be patient, just because I don't trust the Reds to develop their stable of arms.

Have to cut an SP in favor of a hitter given mounting injuries (12 team 5x5 QS keeper). Who would be your first drop among Detmers, Bradley, L. Allen, and Bibee?
Ray Murphy

Ouch, this stings. Bradley, I think.

LA has played Vargas consistently but his metrics like hard-hit rate and exit velocity have been uninspiring. Batting eye and chase rate are exceptional for a rookie. Too soon to think his hit-tool was overhyped, and is there any chance Dodgers turn to Busch in the second half for more pop?

Too early to give up on Vargas. Might need a Triple-A reset, but foundational skills like that eye and chase rate bode very well long-term. He'll figure it out.

Anything to make of this Bregman increase in Ks?  Eye, contact, walk rate, xba all down in the last 30 days.  If he loses his elite plate skills i dont see much value moving forward.

He can't hear the trash can? <snicker>. Power's up in last month as well, so maybe a tradeoff worth accepting.

OK, that's all I've got time for today! Gotta go ice my fingers, this was quite a whirlwind. Brent should be back in this space next Monday, but I'll be sure to drop in somewhere down the road as well. Have a great week!
