Hi Brent--  can you comment on Sam Long?  And please rank him with Merrill Kelly, Vince Velasquez, Vladimir Gutierrez?
Brent Hershey
12:56
Intrigued; even w/ Kelly, ahead of the other 2

Good day. I picked up Luis Castillo a month ago, but have yet to start him. Is this the week? Or roll with a 1 start from Pablo Lopez? Or pick up Sammy Long based on his ratings this week?
Brent Hershey
12:58
Lopez I think.

Hi Brent  I have an embarrassment of riches on my pitching staff this week.  Points league, and I have DeGrom & Lynn definitely starting & need 3 from this group: Robbie Ray, Framber Valdez, Manoah, Gomber, Tucker Davidson, Nola, Alcantara, DeSclafani.  Any thoughts?  Thank you
Brent Hershey

Nola, Framber, Ray

Do you think Braxton Garrett will have any value, NL only keeper league?
Brent Hershey
1:00
Possibly, longer term. But depends if you have bench space for now.

Why would David Price up his sinker usage to over 40% this year when it’s his worst pitch by run value and almost every other metric? Does he have any value NL only keeper?
Brent Hershey

Not sure; don't think so

I'm desperate for pitching and stumbled across Sammy Long and Bailey Ober this week. Both have shown some skills in limited fashion. Do you like either?
Brent Hershey
1:01
Long more than Ober

Jorge Polanco seems to be heating up. He's got good plate skills with some pop. Are you a fan?
Brent Hershey
1:01
That overall lineup has to be better, right? Always depends on your other options, but could pull off a streak, yes.

In a H2H weekly categories league, what should a team likely to make the playoffs do with guys like Urias or Peralta who will probably face innings limits late in the season? Trade for older arms like Greinke (and who else?) who are likely to regularly pitch through September? Or hold and hope they keep pitching as they themselves are on playoff contenders? Thanks Brent.
Brent Hershey
1:02
Likely hold and just play it out. Tough spot, though

Missed your chat last week, still same question this week, Stanton, Cron and/or Andujar.   Stanton GB%52, XPX dropping plus his eye%below .50 do I keep him?  Cron has a decent ct%&eye% but xpx dropping and Andujar eye% is well below .50 so he's hacking away with a 50%GB & xpx below 100.   Any of these three you'd look at keeping?
Brent Hershey
1:04
All have flaws. Without context, I'd move on from Cron but keep the other two for now.

Bo Bichette is putting up elite counting stats with sub elite plate skills. Do you view him as someone who is going to consistently outperform his skill set, someone who is due for regression, or is there even more to come?
Brent Hershey
1:04
Think he outperforms, and yes, could be even more there.

Awful coincidental that my curve became very hitable at the same time the league is supposed to start cracking down on sticky substances.  Should my owners be worried?  Would you sell high now?
Brent Hershey

Always depends on the return. See my earlier answer re: league-wide effects, though,

Hi! Are either or both Monoa and McClanahan worth holding in 12-team root category league? Both are on very short leashes, rough last starts. I have Framber Valdez, Kikuchi and Pineda also at the end of a 9-man rotation. Nothing really on waiver wire but could use slot(s) for extra bench bats.
Brent Hershey
1:06
Rooks are going to be up and down. Gotta think both give you K potential than waiver wire options might not.

Hi, Brent! Happy Monday, all!

Brent, what are your thoughts on Ke'Bryan Hayes? He looks like a STUD! Why do you think that he was tabbed as more of a defensive wizard prior to his call-up? His swing looks legit!!
Brent Hershey
1:07
Think he is a stud; power was slow to show itself in the minors, and defense was outstanding. Sometimes this happens when it all comes together at the MLB level. Enjoy it.

points league. Need 2 of the 3 for two starts: Keller (KC), Bundy or Sam Long
Brent Hershey
1:08
Bundy/Long (tho certainly some Long risk)

Chances that Lewin oDiaz is the first baseman of the future for the Marlins?
Brent Hershey
1:09
50-60% right now? Likely has a chance to up that in the 2H. Obv Aguliar a current substantial roadblock

If I haven’t said it. I appreciate what you do

Whom do you prefer ROS (5X5 H2H categories):  Matz or Cobb?  And is it close or a no-brainer?  Thanks!
Brent Hershey
1:10
Cobb; it's close; personally never been a Matz fan

Hi Brent-- running into a roster crunch with Maeda getting reactivated. Would you drop Pineda to make room for him? Feels like a "pick your poison" decision, between Pineda (ineffective with recurring forearm issues) and Maeda (season-long funk in part based on vague "arm soreness").
Brent Hershey
1:10
Tough call, but I might. Am worried a bit about Pineda in the leagues I have him

Carson Kelly has looked lost since his IL return, with all his well-supported early season gains totally out the window. Seems that he may have been rushed back from the toe injury, which reportedly was not fully healed when he returned. Would you drop him for Stassi (12-team OBP, single catcher)?
Brent Hershey
1:11
As one can see above, I'm a Kelly fan, esp in OBP. But also think Stassi is legit. I'd probably lean towards Kelly, but it's close

What are your thoughts on Skubal ROS?
Brent Hershey

Strikeout ability helps to counterbalance the control and occasional rookie blowups.
