Back at it; chatters! Took a week off last Monday due to the holiday, but ready for another fun hour-plus. Lotsa Qs waiting, so let's go!

Do you prefer Cowser or Meadows?
Brent Hershey
12:02
Cowser, slightly. Track record, and feel like his PT is a bit more stable. BUT ... can see Meadows if you're in a SB bind.

What do you think of unheralded Otto Kemp, does he have a chance to play regularly for Phils in the 2d Half?  Next season? That 319/425/602 with 13 HR looks good, even though the .405 BABIP will regress. And he's played a bit of OF and 1B recently. (Ray suggested I ask you, as it's more your jam than his.)
Brent Hershey
12:05
I don't feel like Kemp has much of a shot at contributing in a long-term way sans disaster situation. Older prospect, defense not particularly good in OF (which matters for Phils given current stat). Won't surprise me to see him get some AB at some point, but pure AAA depth guy right now.

Scoresheet keeper league.  Who would you rather have - Agustin Ramirez, Edgar Quero, or Harry Ford?
Brent Hershey
12:07
Ramirez would seem to have the most Scoresheet juice ... though he's the likeliest to move off CA fairly soon. If that's a consideration, then Quero would make sense.

Hi Brent, I greatly enjoy these chats. Both informative and interesting. Thanks for answering my questions. 16 team H2H Points league.

I have a number of options to fill my 2B, CI and UT positions. I tend to place a fair bit of weight on the past week's performance and consistency. My preference for each is ordered below:

2B: IKF, Stott, Baty, McNeil
CI: Josh Bell, IKF, Ramon Urias, Baty
UT: Springer, McCutchen, Yainer Diaz

I've been riding a hottish hand with Baty but he seems to have cooled appreciably. RoS outlook for Baty? HQ (and other sites) are not enthusiastic. HQ only gives him 45% PT RoS.

I also think Bell might be starting one of his hot spells.
Help!

Hard to ignore Springers' output this past week. But he's been consistently inconsistent.

And finally, would you start Bibee (-.8 @NYY, +.4 vs HOU) OR Boyd (.6 @ WAS). Boyd is by far the safer play IMO.

And Thanks again.
Brent Hershey
12:12
2B: Really impressed with Baty; he'd probably be my choice here. Stott>IKF for me if you want more guaranteed AB than Baty
CI: Yeah, could be right with Bell, been tracking that also. Think he's best choice here given alternatives (though Stott+Baty also an option)
UT: Springer for me; another hot hand, perhaps? Yainer #2 tho

P: yeah, you wrapped it up nicely. Might go safe with Boyd here, though Bibee's skills tantalizing with that 2-start.

10 team mixed 5x5 keeper. My title hopes took a serious hit when I started Luzardo and Pfaadt Saturday. What happened, as no one saw this disaster coming, although I had some worries with Pfaadt. A one time thing or signs of trouble ahead? THANKS for taking the time to help us!
Brent Hershey
12:14
Yeah, rough. Feel like Luzardo's more a one-off than Pfaadt, and that's how I'll treat em here in the short term.

Using the BHQ website, I was able to snag a few pitchers with good skills but bad performance to wait them out.  I need to drop one going into next week: Ben Brown, Keller, E. Perez (IR), Taillon.
Brent Hershey
12:14
Keller for me

Hey Brent! Need some help rounding out my roster this week. Jesus Sanchez or Colt Keith (DET potentially facing 7 RHPs this week) for my last UTIL spot? And Chad Patrick v SD or Ben Brown @ DET this week as my 5th SP?
Brent Hershey
12:16
Keith (better lineup overall) and Brown (though going against Skubal  so wins prob is low)

hello Brent, thank you for taking my question: which 3 pitchers should I start this week : gallen vs atl and cin, bibee vs nyy and hou, roupp vs sd and atl, gonsolin vs nym, megill vs lad, vest sharing closing role,
Brent Hershey
12:19
Roupp, Gonsolin, and then either Bibee or Vest. Might go Vest as he kinda seems like the saves favorite for now (take advantage)

Hiya Brent! NL 10 team 5x5. I didn’t activate him his last start, but can I still run Qunitana out or should I be trying to trade him away before it all goes up in a puff of smoke?
Brent Hershey
12:21
I'd explore trades. Don't love him v SD this week
Hesh
12:22
Your thoughts on Will Warrens ROS outlook? Bouncing back?
Brent Hershey
12:22
The recent growth points to yes, that he'll bounce back. Pleasant surprise until that most recent outing. Not 100% a given -- still a rookie pitcher, after all
Mark S
12:22
Corbin Carroll recent slump just a slump or we exploring sell high options in shallow 12 team categories league?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Just a slump. Would not entertain trade offers

What is wrong with George Kirby? He looked bad on rehab, and has looked bad in both starts. Is this rust or similar to last August when he suddenly got lit up each start?
Brent Hershey
12:25
Just the risk with injured starters. Asking the even the really good ones to be in midseason form immediately is a lot. Don't think it's tied to last Aug -- unless that was his shoulder barking back then

Thanks for all your insights.  4x4 Roto.
1.) Rank 'em ROS (and are any intriguing in AL-only):  B. Baldwin, D. Avans, C. Thomas, M. Lugo, M. Canha, S. Haggerty, A. Toro.
2.) Do you see LAA, CWS, BAL, or ATH throwing in the towel on 2025 soon?  If so, a.) who do you see on the move, and b.) which players are likely to benefit from an uptick in PT?
Brent Hershey
12:28
  1. Lugo, Haggerty, Baldwin <AL-only interest ends>; Toro, Canha, Thomas, Avans
  2. a. Probably not yet; though check contract status for rentals or one-year-left-guys; b. Youngsters looking to impress. Sorry, too broad of a question for specific names right now. More relevant in a month

16 team dynasty 6x6 ops holds weekly h2h format...couple for you; 1 C ROS, Salvy or Agustin Ramirez, and also rank these CI's ROS Bohm, Yandy, Barger? Thanks Brent
Brent Hershey
12:30
1) Ramirez; 2) Barger, Yandy, Bohm. Barger much more juice than the others.

In desperate need of starting pitcher have two guys on my bench Festa from Minnesota or Rogers from Baltimore who gets up there first
Brent Hershey
12:31
Rogers may get there first (injuries play such a large role overall), but I'd want Festa by a bunch.

Hi Brent, 5X5 16 team redraft, Do you think Brent Ashcraft (Pittsburgh) enters the starting rotation this year or is he in bulk reliever purgatory this year? Also, will Zebby Matthews continue his growing pains in the big leagues or be sent down to hone his skills.
Brent Hershey
12:35
Think Ashcraft gets a SP shot; and depends if MIN is looking at skills or results with Matthews. He's getting killed by H%/S%; outside of Ryan and Pablo, he has the best skills right now on that starting staff. A hold for me if these skills continue.

Who at SS : Adames or Correa?
And who at DH. (Adames or Correa) or Bogaerts or Lourdes Gurriel?
Thanks!
Brent Hershey

Correa; Adames, then Bogaerts

Hey Brent, I figured Vientos wouldn't be as good as last year, but didn't expect this. Lewis has been terrible since getting back and who knows how long until his next injury. In  Dynasty League, how would you rank Shaw, Vientos, Lewis?
Brent Hershey
12:39
In the order you have em — but partially b/c I don't think Lewis can stay on the field. He probably has the best skills, but I'd prefer Shaw's upside right now and overall game (better hitter than Vientos). Even if/when he recovers, Vientos more of a streaky slugger it seems, prone to slumps and cold stretches. Highest HR potential, but a big downside right now also.

In 12-tm H2H category, with middling pitching (no SP1) and the best on waiver wire the likes of Ben Brown, T Bradley, R Nelson, Gonsolin, Sugano, Paddack and Cecconi — would you still hold Baz, G Holmes and Jobe?
Brent Hershey
12:40
Yes, but in a 12 would have interest in Brown and Bradley if you're trying to take shots at ceiling
